Mega Man Xtreme
Review by SS3 Grown Trunks
"It's the GBC at it's Xtreme power"
This game is a lot like the Mega Man Xtreme that was made for the Super Nintendo or this one was made in base of the one of the Super Nintendo, well anyway, the thing is that they both look alike. It has its disadvantages but if you get used to it you will see that it it almost as good as the one made for the Super Nintendo, it is one of the greatest games.
Graphics - 8/10
Well, the graphics for this game are pretty good, not as good as the other one but still good, the characters are well designed and the enemies and monsters are well designed too that it will be really wierd if you cannot tell something apart from the other, you will never confuse something for another thing. The background is very good and the worlds are designed so that you can't actually go through it too easily and that way you will not see the end of it too fast. The graphics of this game are pretty good.
Gameplay - 9/10
The gameplay for this game is same as in any other Mega Man game, you are in a world and you have to get to the other side of that world, then, when you are there, you have to defeat the monster and then move to the next world, you can shoot bullets at enemies and can choose in which order you want to clear each world, normally that always happens. Well anyway, after you finally defeat each and every monster or boss of each world you will be able to get to the final stage in which is harder and it is also has a tougher boss which obviously is the final boss, when you manage to defeat that final boss you will see the end of it, but it is not that easy to get to the end, the only way to get to the end is that you should be an expert on this game. But still the gameplay of this game is same as always, great.
Sound - 8/10
The sound for this game is very good, it is O.K. As always, as in any other game I have played, there is the background music and the sound effects such such as when you shoot an enemy and also when you hit an enemy, it has its different sounds for each activity or action, and the background music is not annoying like in some other games, but even tough the sound does not makes the game good, it make it better and this time the game is better for it's great sound.
Controls - 8/10
Well, normally anyone who has played a game any game, or even if not, he or she will find out what each button works for, but I think that putting this in a review is important and may become helpful for someone. The Game Boy Color has the four buttons including start and select, and it also has the control pad, so here are what are their functions in this great game: the control pad, as usual, to move Mega Man, the A button makes Mega Man shoot his bullets and if its hold, it makes it charge up so that when you release it the shot is more powerful, the B button makes Mega Man jumps from the floor or to scale the wall by jumping too. The start is for, at the title screen when it says ''Press Start'' well there, you press it and a list of options will appear, and the select I think that is only so that your Game Boy Color doesn't look ugly. The controls of this game are well distributed.
Length - 7/10
Well, the length of this game is not that much, compared to other Mega Man games this game is quite long but, compared to other games this game is really short since it only has a few worlds and then the final boss comes, so it no big deal you can finish it in two days or even one if you are really good, but if you are not good it might take you more than two weeks to be able to end this game. So the length of this game depends on your abilities, my score is for a normal one.
Replay Value - 10/10
The replay value of this game is the best part of it, after finishing it you will want to play it again and again. Maybe you will get bored of it but after some weeks of not playing it you will want to play it again and you will not stop playing until you see the end of the game again.
Conclusion - 8/10
My conclusion for this game is that you have to buy it if you are planning to play it because it is very addictive and if you ever want to play it again you will want to have it there instead of going to the rentals and rent it again, and it might not be there anymore so buy it to someone since I do not hink that in the year 2002 this game is still for sale at stores, but it might be for sale if someone wants to sells his.
Overall
The overall score for this great game that will keep you busy is the following: 58/70
