"You can Easily get Lost in this.."

First, let me start off by saying that this is by far my favorite Game Boy game of all time. I haven't come by a Game Boy game yet that is as good as this one. The first Dragon Warrior Monsters I haven't played yet, but I don't think its superior to this one.

You start out as a young girl named Tara. Tara is able to enter worlds using key's in a magic key door. In these worlds, she uses monsters for protection against the dangers lying within them. While there, you can also tame the monsters within the key worlds and have them fight alongside of you. There are a total of 315 monsters you can get to fight with you. These monsters vary from slime to birds to snakes and fish and everything in between. Your brother, Cobi, will try and keep track of the monster farm/ranch while you're out on your adventures.

The graphics in this game are very nice. The monsters all look good and the scenery is similar to games like Dragon Quest 5 and 6. Every monster has their own animation when following you, so theres no generic picture of a monster ever. You can enter buildings and every key world has at least one town in it.

The sound is great! Sound effects are all over the place. In battle, your monsters will make different sound effects if they cast spells, attack, etc. Theres also a text sound effect when you're scrolling through the text when talking to townsfolk and the like.

The music is also another really great thing this game has. The music is really wonderful in almost all parts of the game. Its mysterious when you enter certain key worlds, and has a cool type of sound when you're in town. When you're crossing the sea, theres a nice sea-faring tune that goes along with it. All in all, the music is a really nice part of the game.

Replayability is also pretty high. Trying to get all of the monsters will take you a pretty long time, and theres an INSANE number of magic key worlds. This game can last from around 30 hours (beating it without collecting all monsters) to waaay over that (trying to collect all the keys/monsters).

In conclusion, this is a really great game that no RPGer or monster breeding fan should pass up. If you cant find this game, then try finding Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Cobi's Adventure. Its virtually the same game, but instead has Cobi as the lead character.

My final score: 9/10
