"Dragon Warrior meet Pokemon"

Introduction
Dragon Warrior is a popular RPG series just like the Final Fantasy series. Dragon Warrior Monster is a breakthrough in the development of Dragon Warrior series as this is the first time you can get monster to join you just like another popular RPG for Gameboy, Pokemon. In other word, this game could be said as a Pokemon spin off. Enix did a great job in making this game though as not to taint the legacy of Dragon Warrior series.

Story line: 7
The game begins on a middle of the night when you and your sister were talking about monster, when suddenly a monster appear and kidnapped your sister. A few moments later another monster came and told you to follow him, and you found yourself in the Kingdoms of Greatlogs. You found out from the king that in order to go back you need to win the Starry night tournament that will grant the winners any wish he/she desire.

In order to return to your world and to find your sister Tara, you need to win the tournament, but before that you must qualified for the task.

quite a decent story line in my opinion, even though its nothing outstanding.

Music: 10
The music is fabulous, There is a different music for each traveler’s gate, and the music really give the perfect ambience to the story. The music was a classic, reminiscence of old-school RPG set in Medieval times.

Gameplay: 10

The basic control in the game is just like many other RPG. In this game, you get monster from various Dragon Warrior games to join you. However, this is not exactly a copycat of Pokemon. While the basic gameplay just like Pokemon, however one of the concept that stands out in this game is Breeding monster which only implemented in the later Pokemon games.

In battle, you will fight up to 3 monster. This way, it makes the game more strategical, and you can try out different teams consisting of different monster. It is essential that you learn that diversity between attacking monster and your healer is the most important.

Breeding is probably one of the most interesting thing about this game. While it's not necessary to breed your monster to finish the game, breeding is a must if you want a strong monster with all the ultimate skill that you want.

Graphics: 9

Marvellous is the right word to describe the graphics in this game, each traveller gates and the mesmerising details of the place such as the sea, the walls, dessert and even the floor is potrayed in a great details. A variety of color that being used for the color of the monster are not bad.

Final Score: 9/10
While the game concept might be similar to Pokemon. Nevertheless, the game really stands out from the rest of GBC RPG. The uses of old monster from earlier Dragon Warrior games as the monster that you can catch are an innovative idea. I would recommend that you get this game if you own a GBC and you love RPG.
