Tetris DX
Review by NHerradura
"A must buy for every GBC owner..."
The Tetrads are Falling! The Tetrads are Falling!
=================================
The GameBoy classic has finally gotten a deserving makeover.
Tetris DX will please many a tetris fan with its classic
gameplay... only now in full color! Plus, for those who
are seeking a high score, the game now has a battery back-up
feature so scores will not be erased when the game is turned
off. Finally!
Controls
========
Controlling the tetrads have never been easier. Rotate them
using the A and B buttons while positioning them with the
directional pad.
Gameplay
========
Tetris DX provides us with four modes to play in. Maration, Ultra,
40 lines, and VS Com. Marathon and Ultra are basically the same; you
try and get the highest score possible. 40 Lines mode challenges
you to see how high you can score within a 40 line limit. VS Com
mode pits you against the computer, which isn't easy at all.
The concept is simple: You create lines by lining up differently shaped 'tetrads.' The more lines you create in one move, the more points you get. When you create four lines at the same time, you score a Tetris. Of course, things get a wee bit tougher when you advance levels. At levels 14 and 15, the tetrads literally drop down the screen in less than a second!
Graphics/Sound
==============
Tetris never looked so good. The backgrounds are bursting with life
and the tetrads are now easily distinguishible from each other now.
The menus are nice to look at too.
The sound is disappointing. Gone are the classic Russian tunes from the past and in their place are three uninspired tunes. The songs get faster when you're about to lose, but that can be real annoying at times.
Replayability
=============
This is a puzzle game. These have unlimited replayability. 'Nuff said.
Bottom Line
===========
This is a must buy for every GameBoy Color owner. Seeing the classic
in full color is enough to merit a purchase.
