Gex: Enter the Gecko
Review by Wolf 2
"This is a really good game marred by really bad control."
Well, Gex is back. With appearances on 3DO and PlayStation, I thought that this 2-D reincarnation of our favorite Gecko would be...decent. I was right, at least about the decent part. The only really bad thing about this game is it's control, which leads to bad collision detection, and the fact that you have to land on Gex's tail doesn't make it a bit easier. Otherwise, this is Mario 64 in 2-D and 8 megabits. The story is that the evil Rez has stolen the world's T.V. programming. Now, for most people, it would be devastating, but with Gex, T.V. is life!! And now they've gone and thrown it all away. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!
Gex is not just going to sit back and let this happen, though. He ventures into the Media Dimension to get his Cable back. So much for the story. Anyway, you do all that by gathering remotes. You get a red remote for beating a mission in one of the many areas, a silver remote for finding or earning one. (I've earned them, I just don't know how I did it.) You get gold remotes for beating the bonus stages. You do that by collecting a certain number of icons (Which will vary by the theme of the level.) and then grabbing the remote. You need a certain number of a certain kind of remote to get into certain levels, and it's all very complicated and I'm not going to get into it. The graphics and sound are nice, and it's long and challenging, and that's always nice.

Buy it. It'll take you a while to get through, but it's a fun trip. Watch your jumps.
