"It's time for the Grand Finale..."

Introduction

This is one of the games that is hard to describe. You are Evel Knievel and you have to complete the courses provided without running out of gas and without getting injured. It is a very challenging game to play, because it's just hard to do most of the jumps and other things without falling over, turning upside down, or running out of gas.

Gameplay 8/10

This game has 2 different modes of play: practice mode, and the mode for completing the game. In practice mode, there is a practice level that you can use to hone in your skills as a dirt bike stunt man. It has a lot of features like jumps, moguls, and ramps. You can also use this to practice strategy, as it plays an important role in this game. For example, there might be a ramp that leads to another ramp, but there is a vertical obstacle close to the landing ramp. So then you have to practice using correct speed.

In the regular mode, you have to go to certain cities and complete the courses there. There are 4 different cities: London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. At each city, there are 5 different courses. After you've finished all 5 of the particular courses for a certain city, you get the chance to earn some extra money by doing a Grand Finale.

During the Grand Finale, you pick certain obstacles and how many of them to jump over between 2 ramps. You get 3 tries to do this.

The controls for this game are easy to remember too, since there's only a few buttons to remember. The A button is used for the gas, B is to turn around and the D-Pad is used for wheelies and other stuff.

This category lost a couple of points because you can't save your game. Instead, you have to write down a password for each level you beat and that can become quite tedious.

Graphics/Sound 9/10

The graphics for this game were great. The graphics are great compared to some of the other Game Boy Color titles that I have. They are about as sharp as you can get on this handheld.

The sound for this game could've been a little better. It only has a few different sounds, but the ones that it does have are great. The only reason this category lost a point is because of this.

Play Time/Replayability 10/10

This game took me about 8 hours to beat. That's not very much, but the game is hard, just not long. I have replayed this game several times just because it was fun! In my opinion, it's one of the best GBC games that was on the market. The game is just as hard the second, third, fourth and fifth times as it is the first time. That is an important factor in this game also.

Final Recommendation

Just by looking at this game, I wasn't too sure that I wanted to buy it, but I'm sure glad that I did! This game was worth every cent for me!
