"Not as Good as the Playstation version, but longer."
Game Play 6/10
You walk through a tower and fight monsters to level up your own… and your self but sadly your levels are gone when you leave the tower. You can bring with you 5 things each time you enter the tower and leave with 20. You can summon monsters to protect yourself (you can have 2 out at a time, 5 in your bag and 20 total). You can also arm your self with swords, staffs, shields and anything you can throw (witch is every thing you find). You can upgrade swords and shields with sands that you find in the tower. Also monsters can be upgraded with seeds, the other kind of seed and herbs in addition to leveling up. However aside from having more levels in the tower then the Playstation version it has far less to do in the town (you can upgrade your house twice and that's it) and thus just isn't as good.
Fun Factor 5/10: Good if you just need to pass some time but really not all that fun. However it is really additive, I mean I would get lost in the game for hours at a time, but looking back on it I wasn't really having that much fun.
Challenge 5/10: Nothing much to see here, as long as you don't rush through the levels you should be fine and only have to go to the tower 10 or so times.
Controls 10/10: Like most RPGs there really isn't any reason they shouldn't be perfect.
Graphics 8/10
Well it's a Game Boy Color game so you really can't expect much but for a Game Boy Color game there quite good, great even. I mean the dialog screens look excellent and so do the monsters (in the status and battle screens).
Sound 7/10
Music 7/10: As good as any other Game Boy Color game, I guess it must be at least ok since it didn't seem to annoy anyone I played it around.
Sound Effects 7/10: Nothing special, things sound like they are suppose to what more can I say.
Voice Acting -/10: There is no voice acting in this game… unless you count the sounds it makes during dialog.
Story 2/10
Stop me if you have heard this one. Your dad goes into the tower and doesn't come back. Then years later when you come of age you go into the tower to look for him.
Originality 1/10: It is as predictable as an episode of Loony Toons and twice as lame.
Value 8/10
There are allot of, for lack of a better word side quests but they are not that fun at all. There are also over 100 levels in the tower.
Replay Value (Normal Gamer) 1/10: Once you are done you'll never want to look at this game again.
Replay Value (Hardcore Gamer) 5/10: Once you are done you might be able to squeeze some more hours out of this game by getting the best weapon and shield and trying to get all the different monsters (there are allot of them)
Multi-Player -/10: No multi-player in this game.
Bottom Line
If you like dungeon crawlers you'll like this game
Buy, Rent, Barrow or Forget: Rent it if you can find a place to rent Game Boy Color games.
Pros: Lots of value, addicting.
Cons: Bad story, boring game play.
Personal Tilt -/10
I can't really tilt this one ether way.
