Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors

"Finally. A Good DBZ Game"
Introduction:
Finally, a good DBZ game comes to North America. The funny thing is, this game is for the Game Boy Color and not the Game Boy Advance. Still, get this game and not the ones for GBA. Why would you buy a game that is on a older system? Because. Even though this game does not have flashy graphics and too good of sound, it is the gameplay that counts.
Gameplay(9/10)
Ahh yes, the heart of the game. This game is an action/adventure game with a little bit of RPG thrown into it. The game has three different modes of play: Story Mode, Multiplayer Mode, and Battle mode. You only get Story Mode to start, and the rest will be unlocked later. In story mode, it faithfully follows the Dragon Ball Z story line from the Saiyan Saga through the Cell and Buu Sagas. You will mainly spend most of your time fighting and reading dialogs. To fight, you have to use cards and you might think that it is boring, but in reality, it's actually not. In battle, you can either use a regular attack, a special attack, or power up. For defending, you can either block or use movement. You can also change characters if you have a partner fighting along side with you. If you win the battle, you get to have 1 out of the available 125 cards. Also, once you have unlocked a character, you can use him or her in Story Mode. It's funny, cause if you unlock a bad guy such as Nappa, you get to use him to beat the game and save the universe. In Multiplayer Mode, you can battle a friend which adds to the replay value and you can even trade you cards. In Battle Mode, you can fight any character you have unlocked and you even get a card if you win.
Story(10/10)
It's DBZ!!! The story is the exact same as the show, so all you people who watch the television show, you should know exactly what happens. Actually, there is one part of the story that is different. There is no Garlic Jr. saga! In the show, this saga was basically a filler in saga that consisted of about 10 episodes. I guess the makers of this game thought that it wasn't important enough to be put in. Oh well, I didn't like this saga too much anyway's. Besides, the game still has A LOT of saga. It has the Saiyan, Frieza, Trunks, Android, Cell, and Majin Buu sagas.
Graphics(8/10)
For all you people who think graphics are the most important thing about a game, you would have fixed feelings about this game. For a Game boy Color game, you shouldn't expect flashy graphics and colors, but still, the map graphics and colors were horrible in my opinion. Also, there wasn't detail on anything. They could have definitely improved on this. But the thing that prevents me of giving this section a 4 or 5, are the battle animations. Yes, the battle animations were amazing! Each attack had its own animation, and each were great. They also had extremely good detail and color.
Sound(7/10)
Many people have hated this game for its music and sound. In my opinion, I don't really care for the music and sound in a game, but some people do. The music wasn't too good, and it wasn't too bad either. It was just okay. The sound however, I thought was pretty good. You can hear the cool sound effects when the characters pull of different attacks and get hit by them.
Dialog(5/10)
I just had to make a special section for this. The dialog in this game was horrible! For example, in the game the writers put in ''prepare to lost'' and ''lost now''. Instead of die, they put in lost. Also, there were many other grammatical and typos too.
Difficulty(8/10)
The difficulty in this game is pretty good. Don't expect to breeze through this game because you won't. Expect to try again in most fights. You might even have to try again a couple of times.
Replay value(9/10)
Very good replay value. I mean, how could you not play this game over and over again what with all the things in the game. There are lots of characters to unlock, a Battle Mode, a Multiplayer Mode, and 125 cards to collect.
Overall
The best DBZ game that I have played in a long time. I hope they make more DBZ games like this.
Buy/Rent
If you have a GameBoy Color, then I recommend you buy it, especially if you are a DBZ fan. If you are not a DBZ fan, then rent it to see what it is like. If you like it, then buy it. Either way, this game deserves a rental at least.
