Dragon Warrior Monsters
Review by SClemmons
"Ok"
Welcome to the world of poke...err....Dragon Warrior: Monsters. All should be well here, but it's not for some odd reason. The Evil Dragon king, Hargoth, is ripping innocent animals apart and it's your job to stop this evil being from taking over the world.
We all know the role you play. A young, talented, magical, young little boy (how I like'em) that seems to have some kind of undermined power that only you know about. Some weird things happen, and he basically is taught, out of millions of humans, how to capture a bunch of silly monsters that consist of slimes, dragons, tress, and golems. It's not like it'd be a big secret on how to catch the monsters anyway. Just weaken them and have them join your team.
How do you weaken them down, FFM
Well, you begin the game with only pathetic, petty monsters that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag if their life depended on it. They can only ''Attack'', and they have no magic to use. Later, you'll get monsters that have special abilities that will make the game a lot more interesting them ''Attack, Defend, Run''. Use the elemental powers of each of the monsters to aid you in your conquest to rid the world of an overgrown dragon.
The powers you got at your disposal shouldn't be new to you, since they've been used in about every other RPG formula since Ultima. Fire, Water, Wind, Earth. We all know what is weak against what, DWM is no exception to the rule in which was put in place at the birth of Rpg’ing.
Then you got the graphics, these are pretty good to say the least. You got grass, sand, ice, fire, and all of it in between. There’s no shortage of diversity in the way of graphics. The monsters look great for being made up of the few colors the gameboy color can pump out compared to its newer brother, the GBA.
How about that audio. It sounds pretty good. I mean you got the classic Dragon Warrior themes here that you all know. The theme of edrick, the music of the battles. If you’ve played the original, these tunes shouldn’t come off as new to you. Then you got the sound effects. They’re what you’d expect. Sounds of swords swinging, monsters grunting, other stuff.
In the end you have a pretty mediocre game that used the same formula to many times. It’s a fad that needs to stop or I’ll cry.
Final Verdict
Graphics = 5
Sound = 7
Gameplay = 4
Control = 6
Final = 5
Pick it up if you find it cheap.
