Wario Land 3
Review by chuer
"Wario Land 3 is an amazing game"
When I first heard about this game and found out that Wario cannot die, I was somewhat disenchanted. However, I still picked it up. From the first level on, I was simply amazed. This game has a great story, extreme difficulty, and many hours of fun in store.
Graphics: 8/10
These are really good graphics compared most other Gameboy Color games. They are nearly SNES graphics and that is very nice. However, there are a few graphical flaws but nothing too severe.
Sound/Music: 10/10
WOW! Gameboy music is usual grainy and rough sounding, but Wario Land 3's sounds are incredible! The music is soft but still audible and really complement the levels. The music changes by level and form (More on forms later).
Story: 8/10
The story is OK, nothing like a Legend of Zelda game but still better than most Mario-type games. Wario is riding a plane over a deep forest. His plane crashes into the forest. He gets out and sees a cave. He then runs into the cave. There he sees a mystical music box. He touches it and gets sucked into a dream world! He then sees a ''hidden figure'' who tells him to seek out the 5 music boxes that will release him from captivity. If Wario does this, the hidden figure will release Wario from the dream world along with all the treasures Wario acquires along the way. Being a greedy person, Wario happily accepts. It's a pretty good story.
Gameplay: 10/10
WOW! This is where Wario Land 3 really shines! There are so many powerups and forms of Wario! But let's start from the beginning. Unlike Wario Land II, Wario starts with nothing but jump and dash. However, along the way he picks up more and more powerups to make him stronger and better than ever! Also, like Wario Land II, getting hit by certain enemies can change you into different forms. Example: Wario gets hit by a bat, he turns into Vampire Wario.
The levels in this game are so varied and different that each level requires a different strategy. Also in order to get certain treasures, you will have to go a head and get other powerups, then backtrack and get the treasures. Also there is a golf mini-game which is fun.
Replayablity: 9/10
You can try to get all 100 treasures and unlock and beat all of the golf mini-game courses which is actually pretty difficult. However, once you beat it completely, you won't want to play it again because it is so long. But you will want to beat it at least once.
Overall: 9/10
This game is a really great game that I would recommend to anyone. It is tons of fun and will keep you occupied for hours on end.
