"It's a really good game, for a portable."

I couldn't believe it, but Konami has pulled off a really good port to such a great game, on such a limited system. The game uses midi files to make the music in the background. They are very good, and you can actually recognize the songs from the game.

Graphics: 6/10

About the only flaw in the graphics, is the arrows. They bunch up, and when right below each other, are hard to distinguish one arrow from another. They are flat, and the colors don't make them very easy to hit, as they are in such contrast to the usually solid-colored backgrounds. There are also dancers to the right that dance to the song. There is good detail on the dancers, which you might recognize if you played the first game, for an 8-bit portable. The color is good, excepting the arrows, and all of the song banners are in color according to the game, and the CD covers are pretty good. The menus colors, albeit ugly, are in more than one color, which is good.

Gameplay: 8/10

The arrows being a big, and main, part of the game, is the only bad point. The arrows, crappily done, do not help the gameplay. But, other than the being way too bright, they are not that hard to hit. The controls are really great, and if you can actually hit the arrow, you'll be able to.
That's a good thing. The game will remind you so much of other Dance Dance Revolution games that it's almost eerie. Well, most people haven't really played the first couple games, or this game for that matter, if they live in the west, but if you're like me and you got them anyway, then you'll see how much the likeness is.

Sound: 10/10

Undeniably the best part of this game. The sound on this game makes you feel like you are actually playing Dance Dance Revolution. The songs, 8-bit midis, are very nicely done and, while shortened, are very nice sounding, and sound like the songs out of the real game, on the Game Boy Color. If you actually know the songs, you could actually find yourself singing, well, maybe humming, the lyrics to yourself as you play.

Replay: 10/10

Just as addictive as any other Dance Dance Revolution game, this one will have you trying to achieve the highest score possible. The game is intensely hard on Maniac mode, and easier on the other two, which is a good thing. It gives players who really suck at it to be able to play, as well as the people who already know how to play.

Overall: 8/10

This was a great idea to take this game portable. While not perfectly executed, it's enough to satisfy a Dance Dance Revolution fanatic's cravings for Dance Dance Revolution on the road. It's hard to find, since it wasn't released in the United States, but I found it over the internet. It sells for quite a bit, for being a Game Boy Color game, but it's definitely worth it, it even came with a little dance pad.
