Dragon Warrior Monsters
Review by bbeast
"pokemon should be afraid -- very afraid!"
This is one of the best rpg's ever. You need to buy it right now
Gameplay: 10 This is an extremely fun game. The basic idea of the game is similar to pokemon in that you are trying to catch monsters. But there is one huge difference. You can breed your monsters. Let's say that you are breeding a rock type monster with a dragon type monster. You want the offspring monster to be a dragon. You then chose for it to be dragon. The little monster will be able to learn moves that both the parents are capable of. You can use a link cable to breed monsters with a friend.
Story: 8 Your sister is kidnapped by an evil monster that emerges from a dresser. You follow the monster back into the dresser and end up in a strange tree kingdom. The king of the tree will let go find your sister after you win the starry nights tourniment. The tourniment is won by battling your best three monsters against other monster trainers' monsters. Original, but not too interesting.
Graphics: 9 Each monster is very detailed and colorful. You can count the number of hairs that wild cat has and see all the cracks on golem. The only problem is the backrounds are very bland. After a few days all of the different paths of the travelers gates will look the same.
Sound: 9 The music is above average for a gameboy game. The only problem is that there are no sounds that the monsters make.
Replay value: 10 There are 200 monsters that you can catch and over 40,000 monster that you obtain though breeding! Even after you beat DWM you have some serious breeding to do.
Don't let the childish box art scare you away. This is a must buy for any fan of rpg's. If you liked pokemon then I don't know why you don't already own DWM. It blasts pokemon away with better gameplay, graphics, and replay value. Although it will probably never be as popular as pokemon, DWM is far better!
