Magi Nation
Review by Master587
"One of the Best RPG’s I’ve ever played..."
Whether you’re a fan of RPG’s or not, you should defiantly choose this game. This is one of the most over-looked games for GBC, and it’s a real shame. This game raises the bar for all other games after it. And for those of you who think that this game is a Pokemon rip-off, think again.
Gameplay (10/10)
This isn’t like any Pokemon game you’ve ever played. No, this is much better. During battle, you can have a total of four creatures in front of you. And, unlike Pokemon, you’ll be helping to defeat the enemy as well, with a series of spells, summons, and items to help your creatures along. And the story is easy enough to follow. Also, the amount of secrets in this game is astounding! I’m still trying to uncover all of the secrets!
Sound/Music (10/10)
Although you may not believe it, Magi Nation has some of the best background music that I have ever heard. From Naroom to Cald, the music accurately represents parts that are occurring in the game.
Control (10/10)
Control in this game is very simple. The buttons quickly respond in the game, and you can run in every building, so getting around is very easy. Also, the one screen fits all menu is very easy to navigate through.
Graphics (10/10)
When I first turned on this game, I didn’t know what to expect. But, seeing these graphic displayed so wonderfully on the GameBoy Color, I just though, “Wow. This is going to be a GREAT game.” And sure enough it is. Every dream creature and character in the game is accented the most in any GBC game that I’ve seen. Yes, that includes Pokemon Silver/Gold. Magi Nation’s graphics beats the pants off of the Pokemon series!
Storyline (10/10)
The storyline in this game has got to be my favorite in all of the games I’ve played (and believe me, I’ve played a lot!). Its not the way that they introduce the legend of Kyros to you that did it for me; nor was it the easy to follow plotline. No, what makes this game great is the humor. Yes, Tony Jones is your average sarcastic kid. It’s a true-to-life way of expressing the game, not like some others out on the market now.
Replay Value (10/10)
This game, I feel, has a great deal of replay value. You can start a new game with all of your status intact, facing a harder enemy and slightly different storyline. Not to mention that if you just want to start a new game, it never gets old.
Overall (10/10)
I believe that it is a shame that this game is so underrated. It is clearly one of the best games on the GBC, and possibly on of the best RPG on a handheld device! Ask anyone who has ever played this game, and I think that they will agree with me. So, buy the game, and gaze into its wonder and glory… and if you can find the time, play it too!
