Dragon Warrior I&II
Review by Waveblade
"A great game created by Enix…"
Well I got this game from my aunt. When I first opened it I was enthusiastic. I had never played an RPG before. But I found the game was boring…so I just let it sit. 2 years ago I wasn't such a gamer. I was a ''racer'' gamer. 75% of all my games were racing. Now two years later I have gotten addicted to it.
Gameplay 8/10:
Well I give it an 8/10 because the game itself is fun but very difficult at parts. This was one of the reasons I stopped playing it before. This game won't attract the ''casual gamer.'' The difficultly of this game is pretty high. Even the clues that Enix does leave still make it difficult. But what is strange is how much money you can obtain in 10 minutes. I have gotten about 600 G (gold) in that period of Time. Also the different types of spells make it very interesting in how you can defeat the enemy. Another thing, you don't have to delete any spells. I always found that to be an annoyance because if I needed the spell later I wouldn't be able to get it. Controls obviously are simple since it is a turn-by-turn RPG.
Story 5/10:
DW I: The story starts out with Dracolord kidnapping the princess of Moonbrook. So you are called upon to save her. You start out in Tangel Castle
DW II: The story starts out as Hargon attacks Moonbrook Castle. Only one soldier is able to warn the people at Lorasia Castle and he dies as well after giving his warning. The Prince of Lorasia (warrior) must find others with the Loto bloodline. So you must find Prince of Cannock (warrior/spellcaster), and the Princess of Moonbrook (spellcaster).
Graphics 8/10:
It doesn't have the best graphics but it doesn't have any glaring ones either. Some of the non-main characters like kings have the exact same sprite. But it is often helpful since it is easy to tell what each character is. Example: The king has a beard and is red. So it is easy to tell who he is from the others. But the 4 characters in (the character in DW I and the three characters in DW II) that you do control have their own specific sprite.
Sound 8/10:
The backround music is pretty good wherever you go. The music fits each area that invokes a strong emotion.
Playtime 8/10:
This game takes a long time to beat. Don't expect it to be a breeze. It's easy to get lost so it is a good idea to use the map in the manual.
Replayability 5/10:
After you beat it the first time it won't be so interesting to play it again since you know exactly where everything is.
Final Recommendation 7/10:
It's good for the average RPGer but it may seem repetitive to the hardcore RPGer. But I think you should give it a shot and see if you like it or not.
