Perfect Dark
Review by Rittix
"Not so perfect.."
A lot of you will remember what it was like when the n64 version of this game showed up on the scene, we all just got over Golden-eye and were all expecting a sequel to the James bond hit and we got it, Perfect dark on n64, then finally we wasn't expecting them to take it a step further only...In the wrong direction.
Graphics:
First off im no perfect dark hater, i love the game and i love everything about it but this version of the game is not what it should or could have been. Its like the James bond 007 game for the game-boy, the graphics although suspenseful does have some nice points, for the visuals sure its 3rd person above character shooting but the animation and frame rate all seemed to be there, visually speaking this game is average but this section is the bit that does the game justice.
Game-play:
Ok here comes the punchline, this game should have come before the n64 version was released and just marked down in price to about 15 English pounds because the n64 version has so much this does not. First off im not a 3rd person fan in shoot em ups, shoot em ups should be first person, 3rd shooters are usually hard to control and involve great trouble in changing camera angles, plus the game is dead hard, probably one of its redeeming qualities, still it lacks guns and when i kill someone i want to feel there dead in this you cant feel that, they just flop on the floor and vanish, its like you sprayed them with a water pistol and they die from getting wet a major tragedy for this kind of game.
Story:
Ok this is another lacking area i mean sure, it has story but not a story that grabs you and really makes you hate the enemy's. This game just makes you want to laugh at the enemy, when you see him for doing something illegal in this fake cartoon world, i mean you find yourself in the story going from point a to point b, killing all in your path, beating that boss, using that gun to wet that guard, its ok, it just lacks so much.
Sound:
Ok to me, this sucked it didn't have good sound effects you shooting sounded like the plonk e.t made on the Atari when he went down the pit. Music was rubbish nothing catchy it just made you want to hit that mute button and put on music, the music in this game is aimed at children 4-5 nothing like the n64 version, which had some pretty aw-som tracks this to me was a major let down something i expected a lot from obviously i was wrong in this case.
Replay:
This let me down so much because the n64 version has so much replay yet this has none, once you have done it its done, you only need it from then on to put the cheats on your n64 game if you decide to start again, otherwise you can eat the game, sell it to someone or throw it in the toaster dip it in chocolate and feed it to your dad as a treat this lost the game points alone.
Buy?, Rent?, Eat?:
Don't do none, this game to me is a waste of money for the price, its defiantly not worth it unless you really want the cheats on the n64 version, but then again you don't need them because you can get em the way your meant to by earning them, this game does not deserve your time nor money. Its a horrible knock off of a game, sure visual and a good animation frame rate will not safe this turd from getting trodden on. DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!!
