Dragon Warrior Monsters

Review by SpiralSage

"A Magical Adventure. Ready to find your Sister and fight for a Kingdom?"

In all honesty: this game kicks ass. Most people will think it's "just a Poke'mon/ Azure Dreams clone". It isn't, this game may use ideas like using monsters to fight and having random generated floors in dungeons, bu the game is more than just that. It's just too bad this game never got more credit than it did.

Dragon Warrior Monsters is about a boy named Terry. His sister has been kidnapped by a mischievous monster named Warabou. Suddenly, a mysterious monster named Watabou tells Terry that if he (Terry) goes along with him(Watabou) there may be a chance in saving Terry's Sister. You arrive a a tree-like world named: Great Log. If Terry wants to find his sister, he'll have to compete in tournaments using monsters he's been training until he gets to the "Starry Night Tournament", once he's finished that he can be granted one wish from Great Log itself.

The King of Great Log opens Travelers Gates for you to enter. These gates bring you into a randomly generated dungeon, to get deeper into the dungeon you have to step on holes. Once you've gone to the last floor, you fight a boss. Once you kill the boss, you leave the dungeon and go back to Great Log where the King praises you for your hardships. You'll also have to enter tournaments to get farther in the game too. This may sound boring, but once you get the hang of it, you won't want to stop.

The battles system is like Dragon Warriors: You enter a random battle, you see your enemies on the screen and you choose your allies attacks or you can just tell your monsters what attacks you want them to use. You can have 3 allies on your side when you're fighting enemy monsters.

There are also many types of Monsters: Dragons, Birds, Slimes, Zombies,Demons,Bugs, Beasts,Plants, Material, and the legendary ? mark monsters. There's around 20 or so monsters for each class so expect it to take a long time to get them all in your library.

Capturing monsters can be a bit tricky. To capture monsters you must have a meat in your inventory, once you've entered a battle and use meat, there's a chance that the last monster you felled will join your party. It really depends on what meat you use and how much you use. Just keep this in mind: The more meat you use, the more the monster will be willing to join your party.

Breeding monsters is also a pretty cool thing to do in this game. You can breed monsters to make more powerful monsters. Of course, there are some rules. Both monsters need to be at least level 10, both monsters need to be opposite of each others sex, and once you've bred the two monsters they leave forever and an egg takes their place. Breeding can be fun since it can give you more monsters to put in your Library.

And in the end
Dragon Warrior Monsters is worth you money, hands down. It's pretty long and there's so much you can do. If you get tired of you party, just go make another! If you liked the Dragon Warrior Series, don't shy away because this game looks like a Poke'mon ripoff. You won't be disappointed.
