"The greatest thing to hit the Gameboy Color."

Donkey Kong has been known worldwide for a while now, and one of his greatest games has been practically unnoticed for a long time now. Donkey Kong Country has been on the SNES for a long time now and it has been hailed as one of the best SNES games out there. Well, they imported it to the Gameboy Color and nobody really noticed. This is a very sad thing because for a portable game, this is the most fun that I have ever had with a Nintendo game. It includes all the stuff that made the SNES game great and much more.

There's nothing really to say about the graphics... Well, except that they're extremely detailed for that time and that the everything looks astounding! The game was great looking in the original and it's the same here. The graphics are half 2-D and half 3-D so it's a unique look and it works extremely well with this game. Each and every character are fun to look at and very colorful. Actually the whole game is colorful and there is nothing dull to look at. The trees sway, sometimes it rains, and the enemies are very cool looking also. Each and every one has a unique look, so that you're not beating the same baddie one after another.

When you first start to play the game, you immediately start to hum to the lovable tunes and soundtrack. Each level has a different theme of music, so you'll never run out of ear candy. There are no voices in the game, but you can hear the noises that monkey's make, and I guess that works for me. Overall, the music is fun to listen to and the monkey sounds are funny!

This is a side scroller, and as everybody knows, nobody likes them...*Hopes everybody notices sarcasm*. Anyway, like I said it's a side scroller. You go from side A to side B while going through obstacles. The cool thing about it is, they give you many different ways to complete each level. You can go one way, but then you can take a frog and go another way. That's another fun aspect of the gameplay. You can ride an assortment of animals from Frogs, to swordfish! This is surprisingly fun and gives the levels a fresh new twist. The bosses are cool, but challenging. The whole game is actually challenging and it will take you many different trys to complete some of the later levels.

Well, you've read (or skimmed through) my review, and now here's the big question: "Should I go through all the trouble of finding this game and buying it?" The answer is definitely yes. If you see it, pick it up immediately because the game's kinda rare. Overall, this is a fun and challenging game that is great for everyone of all ages.
