"A good game, but I want something new."

GRAPHICS: 9/10.
For a portable system, NGPC has come of the best graphics I've seen so far, and StH:PA shows off a good supply of them. While, it can get a little chalky while going too fast (which is something Sonic does pretty often), overall it meets my standards.

SOUND: 7/10.
The music is...familer. Not one original score is in the whole game. Every song is a rip-off of another BG music from Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and 1 or 2 from Sonic Jam for the Saturn. Not that I don't like the music, I think that it was great when it was new, but lets think of something else, hm?

Control: 8/10.
The analog pad really does some justice on the NGPC, but it can a little irritating at some parts. The special stages for example.

Innovation: 2/10.
There is VERY little originality in this game. Besides colecting the puzzle pieces scattered throughout the game, and a few other little bonuses, any moderate fan of Sonic will recognise a LOT of things in this game. The levels' design and background are exactly that of Sonic 2, just with a different layout and name. As I said earlier, every song is a rip-off of another BG music from Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and 1 or 2 from Sonic Jam for the Saturn. The special stage is just like Sonic 2's, and the ''big ring for 50 rings'' system for getting into the special stage is there, too. Basically, if you have Sonic Jam for the Saturn, or most of the Sonic games for the genesis, you'll get a LOT of deja vu.

Replay Value: 6/10.
The emeralds, puzzle pieces, and 2-player mode will keep you coming back. Unfortunatly, you won't be coming back too often.

Recap: If you've haven't played a Sonic game in your life, then get this game, no matter what. You don't know what you're missing! If you've owned quite a few, you may want to look elseware.
