A. Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A1. What the &^#$ is this thing?

This guide is here to give you insight into the Grand Theft Auto Series
universe. Dealing with the main storyline of the game series, trying
to make connections wherever possible in order to help you see the 'big
picture' and how everything in this series is related. Each game is a
part of a larger world and, hopefully, this guide will help you see
that. If not, then I've failed in life. I'm sorry.

This guide will go through a chronological timeline of the games giving
the stories and general plots of each. It'll also get into the
background and some history on the major gangs or groups in the series.
We'll then deal with main characters related to the storyline of the
games. Of course, the guide won't get into every single background
story on each building or group simply because there would be too much
data and I'd probably be an old man by the time I finished writing
this.

GTA Advance is a different story than the other modern GTA games. Some
of its cannon but then there are other facts that don't make sense.
Recently, I purchased a Nintendo DS so I may be able to grab a copy of
this and review it. I'll keep you all updated on it. However, if
there's currently something that you feel is important to the general
storyline then email me and I'll try to include it.

Please note that this guide contains as much information as possible
about the Grand Theft Auto series storylines. That means SPOILERS!
It's all discussed here so if you want to be surprised than you
shouldn't read any further. Go play the games and come back. I'll
wait.

OK, you done? Good. Now we'll continue.

This guide will be a comprehensive look at the Grand Theft Auto series
but will not include GTA 1, GTA London, or GTA 2.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
A2. Why not GTA 1, GTA London, and GTA 2?

The main problem with these games is that they don't have a fixed year.
It isn't specified in 1 or 2. Yes, London is set in the 60's but it
follows the ideas and flow of the 1st series of games. The Grand Theft
Auto 1 series/era if you will. GTA III was basically the start of the
"true" series and storyline aspect. Also, GTA 1 doesn't have a lead
character. So my description would be "some guy runs around doing jobs
for some people". Now you don't want crap like that in here do you?
Do you? You're sick!

Therefore, these games will be left out of this guide. One day I may
do some info from them like a 'History of GTA' or something but for now
they're gone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
A3. Meet the Author

My name is Matthew Vetere and I'm a 24 year old gamer. I've been
playing video games since as far back as I can remember. I originally
started out on the old Atari systems with my cousins but moved to
better technology afterwards. I began my love for writing long after
I'd finished college and I do regret not taking some writing courses
when I had the chance. But I did specialize in Accounting and now work
for the Town of Markham which is just north of Toronto, Ontario,
Canada. It's a good town as they're very environmentally friendly
here.

My first writing experiences came on a former site of mine as I would
review wrestling shows, PPVs, and write columns. I'm still a big
wrestling fan but video games are my true hobby. With my recent
wedding and a new house I have had less time to write but I still enjoy
it. This is my first guide experience and I really enjoyed writing it.
The Grand Theft Auto series along with the Metal Gear Solid series
would be my favourite games of all time. They're just 2 wonderful
series and I'm biting my nails waiting for GTA IV and Metal Gear Solid
4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3. Also note that just because I
have a PS3 I am not a 'fanboy'. I think all the current systems have
great features and the gamers benefit.

Well, I think that covers it for now. If anyone wants to know more or
wants me to write about something specific then email me
(MATTVSIN@GMAIL.COM). Or you can find me posting on the forum at
Stablewars.com.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
A4. Submissions/ Contact Info.

As thorough as I feel that I've been in this document I know that it's
not perfect. Nothing is ever perfect. Therefore, if you see any
problems or if you have any suggestions then contact me. If your
submission is new, better information or just a different idea it'll be
added and you'll be credited. Also if you have any comments about the
series or anything like that. My contact email is:

MATTVSIN@GMAIL.COM

Simple enough email I believe. I also check it everyday so I should be
a good contact if you have a question. Thanks to everyone that has
emailed me so far and given their feedback or additional information.

B. Locations

The Grand Theft Auto universe (GTA 3 to GTA Vice City Stories, soon to
be GTAIV) has been portrayed in five different cities. They're all
based on real-world cities and modeled similar to them. While in the
game you can notice the similarities between the cities and their real-
world counterparts. The most significant features will stand out (the
hills and streetcars of San Fierro, the crime and pollution of Los
Santos, the Miami Vice carbon copy of Vice City). Below is a list of
each city in the GTA universe, some information, and its corresponding
real-world city.

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-LC. Liberty City

Based on: New York City, NY
Population: Approx. 4 million
Comments: Motorcycle operation/ ownership banned in 2001.

It's composed of three islands attached by tunnels, bridges, and ferry
lines. The islands in Liberty City are: Portland, Staunton Island and
Shoreside Vale. Portland would be the industrial sector of the city.
It contains the poor neighbourhoods, docks, red light districts,
warehouses, etc... Portland is also the home to several criminal
organizations including the Italian Mafia, Chinese Triads, and the
Diablos. Staunton Island would be considered the commercial and
business sectors. Containing skyscrapers, a huge park, and a casino
it's the heart of the city. Crime gangs like the Yakuza and the
Yardies find their homes here. Shoreside Vale is primarily the
residential area. Upon entering the island one discovers a huge
international airport (Francis Intl. Airport). Moving further along,
the upper class housing is located on Shoreside Vale but several poor
neighbourhoods still exist (such as Wichita Gardens). There is also a
small industrial area located north of the airport. Liberty City would
be the most featured city in the GTA universe. It has been featured in
6 of the games. GTA III, Advance, and Liberty City Stories were
entirely set in the city. GTA IV will be the next game to be entirely
set in Liberty City. Vice City and San Andreas have opening credits
that start in Liberty City and during each game there are constant
references back to the city. San Andreas even has a mission that's in
Liberty City.

Liberty City is a town ruled by gang violence and corruption. There
are numerous gangs based on real-world groups. Yakuza, Triads, mafia,
and several others are all based on their real-world counterparts.
While there are some allies between the gangs the bonds are weak and it
usually doesn't take much to start a gang war. No one group can
control the city for too long as there are just too many gangs in the
same struggle for power and the strongest usually become the target for
all other groups.

The city is frequently referred to as 'the worst place in America'.

Games located in city: GTA 3, GTA Advance, GTA Liberty City Stories

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-LC07. Liberty City (2007)

Based on: New York City, NY
Population: Approx. 4 million
Comments: Motto: Worst Place in America

It's composed of 4 boroughs attached by tunnels, bridges, and ferry
lines. The boroughs in Liberty City are: Dukes, Bohan, Broker, and
Algonquin. Broker is primarily the industrial sector of the city. It
contains the poor neighbourhoods, docks, warehouses, etc... Broker is
also the home of a small taxi company owned by Roman Bellic. The Dukes
borough contains the city's airport known as Francis International.
Algonquin in the business area for Liberty City. Skyscrapers and for
all the major companies as well as the massive Middle Park are located
here. Bohan is the smallest borough in the city and contains mostly
co-op housing. To the west of Liberty City is the state of Alderney
primarily dominated by Alderney City in the south and marshlands in the
north. Liberty City would be the most featured city in the GTA
universe. It has been featured in 6 of the games. GTA III, Advance,
and Liberty City Stories were entirely set in the city. GTA IV is the
next game to be entirely set in Liberty City. Vice City and San
Andreas have opening credits that start in Liberty City and during each
game there are constant references back to the city. San Andreas even
has a mission that's in Liberty City. GTA IV, however, introduces a
complete redesign to Liberty City which bares an even stronger
resemblance to New York City.

Liberty City is a town ruled by gang violence and corruption. The
Russian and Italian mafias have strong influences on the city as does
the Triads. While there are some allies between the gangs the bonds
are weak and can be broken easily. No one group can control the city
for too long without them becoming the target of every other gang.

The city is frequently referred to as 'the worst place in America'.

Games located in city: GTAIV

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-VC. Vice City

Based on: Miami, FL
Population: 1.8 Million in 1986.
Comments: Enormous tax increases in the 1980's.

Vice City is a unique city. Its southern location provides for warm
weather all year long while this also positions it close to the
Caribbean. Legal and illegal immigration is a huge factor in the
city's population growth during the 1980's. Ethnic groups such as
Cubans, Haitians, Mexicans, and Dominican immigrants all call this city
home. Vice City consists of 2 primary islands. The east island
contains an enormous beach, a huge shopping mall, clubs, a beach front
district, apartment complexes, hotels and boating docks. The west
island contains most of the immigrant areas with Little Haiti and
Little Havana being the largest areas. Escobar Intl. Airport is
located here as well as the Fort Baxter Military Air Base. Hyman
Memorial Stadium attracts crowds with demolition derbies and other
violent car activities. The west island is also the business side of
the city with shipping docks and industrial areas. Located in the
centre of the 2 islands are several smaller ones. Starfish Island
contains a gated community of wealthy Vice City citizens. Leafs Links
Golf Course is located on these islands as well and provides a premiere
golf experience.

Gangs and racism are big issues in Vice City. Thanks to its southern
location and proximity to the Caribbean, most of the gangs are
immigrants. Groups of Cubans and Haitians have set themselves up in
Vice City and developed their own areas within the city. The primary
income for most gangs is the sale of drugs. Most of these drugs get
imported from the Caribbean and sold at a huge mark up to the Vice City
population. Corrupt businessmen and politicians hold the real power
over the city. Paying off the law or changing laws and legislation is
how they maintain that power.

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-LS. Los Santos

Based on: Los Angeles, CA
Population: Unknown.
Comments: Nicknamed the "City of Saints"

Los Santos is a city located in the southeast region of the San Andreas
state. Situated close to the Mexican border, immigration and low
income families are a huge problem for the city. There are several
poor neighbourhoods located in Los Santos. The city also suffers from
pollution problems, thanks to the industrial sector in the southeast
corner of the city. The wind off the ocean pushes this pollution all
over the city creating a 'haze' that surrounds it. The early 1990's
saw the huge introduction of drugs into Los Santos. Some of the local
gangs sold the drugs and profited from it while others stayed away from
the issue. These gangs suffered since some members betrayed them to
score on this industry and the drugs basically took over the city.

Gangs are a huge problem for Los Santos. Each gang has their own
territory located around their homes or neighbourhoods. Gang wars are
sparked very easily between similar ethnic groups or rival gangs.
Simple insults or accidentally walking into a gang's territory can be
the spark for gang wars. The early 1990's were filled with gang wars
and drug problems for the city. Corrupt police officers rule the town
and align themselves with gangs to promote their own agenda.

Games located in city: GTA San Andreas

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-SF. San Fierro

Based on: San Francisco, CA
Population: Unknown.
Comments: Least problematic city in the GTA universe.

San Fierro is located in the northwest region of the San Andreas state.
San Fierro has a very polished look to it. The streets are clean and
the city has no industrial sector so pollution isn't a problem. There
is no low income or "poor" area in the city possibly due to high
housing costs. San Fierro is a prime business city with hotels, car
dealerships, and clubs being the main businesses. San Fierro has a
large Chinese and Vietnamese population thanks to its position on the
west coast of the U.S. These 2 ethnic groups fight with each other but
not very often. Chinatown is a hot spot for tourists along with the
docks on the northern shore. San Fierro's airport is located to the
southeast of the city near the US Naval Base.

San Fierro has several gangs but most of them aren't very violent.
They stick to their own businesses and fronts. The Chinese gangs would
be the only large gang in the city with the Rifa (a Hispanic gang)
following. Some of these gangs have profited off the drug problems in
Los Santos. They produce the drugs in factories in San Fierro and then
send them off to Los Santos to be sold at a mark-up. Chinese and
Vietnamese gangs had several conflicts in the early 1990's but it
quickly ended with the disappearance of the Vietnamese gangs.

-----------------------------------------------------------
B-LV. Las Venturas

Based on: Las Vegas, NV
Population: Unknown.
Comments: City based around gambling.

Las Venturas is located in the northeast region of the San Andreas
state. Smack dab in the middle of a huge desert, Las Venturas glows
with neon lights in the night. The city is powered by a huge
hydroelectric dam located in the west called Sherman Dam. Tourist
gambling and spending is a primary source of revenue for the city.
Several quiet suburb areas surround the central district called 'The
Strip' which consists of restaurants, bars, casinos, hotels, and other
businesses. A main highway has been built which circles the city and
helps ease the flow of traffic around the main tourist locations.

In the early 1990's the town was owned by the mafia. The casino
business was firmly in their grasp. However, Chinese Triad gangs moved
in and develop their own casinos in competition with the mafia. Gang
issues arose but settled shortly after. The mafia's hold on the city
was eventually weakened and the city has become simply a business
community with minimal gang influence.

=====================================================================
C. GANGS

What would be a Grand Theft Auto game without gangs? Gangs are what
drive the personalities and motivations of the individuals met
throughout the GTA universe. There is no one type of gang in GTA.
They're very diverse and even the same gang can be totally different
depending on the time period and location. Motivations change during
the years. Gangs are armed differently, have different goals, and use
different fronts for their business. This section will list and
explain each gang or group that is worthy of such a description.
Worthiness is based on what influence they have in their city or their
importance to the storyline.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-BA. Ballas

City: Los Santos
Turf: Idlewood, Glen Park
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Any purple clothing. Hoody, pants, bandanas, etc...
Vehicles: Majestic (Credit: Dan Justice), Tahoma (Credit: Nitzhi
Volganopol)
Activity: Robbery, drug dealing.

The Ballas were originally formed somewhere in the 1980's. It is
unknown who started the group or where in Los Santos it originated.
Some theories suggest they started in or around Idlewood or Glen Park
since those are typically low income, African-American neighbourhoods.
This puts them close to the Grove Street Families which could also
point to the hatred between the gangs. The gang is the most hated
enemy of the Grove Street Families. Due to fighting among the Grove
Street Families and the introduction of drugs the GSF lost much of its
former glory. The Ballas were able to take over most of the Grove's
territory during this time. In 1992, Carl Johnson returned to Los
Santos and began helping the Grove Street Families regain territory and
influence. The Ballas may have been caught off guard as CJ was able to
unite the families quickly. However, due to the defection of Big Smoke
and Ryder to the Ballas and the murder of several top members, the
Grove Street Families were almost wiped out. The drugs the Ballas sold
were a strong reason for this defection. Later that year, the Grove
Street Families returned and were eventually able to wipe out most of
the Ballas gang. At present it is unknown whether the Ballas were
completely taken out or not.

Storyline: The Ballas started gaining strong influence around 1987 when
the Grove Street Families lost one of its leaders. Carl Johnson left
Los Santos after a mistake he made that got his brother, Brian, killed.
The Ballas began using drugs to expand their influence and control in
Los Santos. During this time they seemed to have allied with the Vagos
and had a drug syndicate set up with the Rifa from San Fierro. In
1992, the Johnson's mother was killed and Carl returned. Carl set out
to bring the gang back to life. He managed to get it going but found
drugs had a big influence over the former members. The Ballas has
taken control of much of the city. However, CJ was succeeding and had
several key victories over the Ballas. This was until the Grove Street
Families were betrayed by Big Smoke and Ryder who defected to the
Ballas. Several high ranking members of the Grove Street were killed
in the incident. The Ballas re-established themselves at the top of
Los Santos again. Later, CJ destroyed the Rifa drug factory in San
Fierro so the supply to Los Santos and the Ballas would end. CJ then
killed Ryder, broke up the drug syndicate and returned to Los Santos.
He brought together the Grove Street Families again and took on the
Ballas. CJ and the Grove Street Families were able to kill Big Smoke,
Officer Tenpenny, and numerous Ballas members. Continuing on they took
over the Ballas' territory. It is unknown if the Ballas survived and
if the gang is still around.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-BI. Bikers

City: Vice City
Turf: Small area near Greasy Choppers Bar
Leader: Big Mitch Baker
Clothes/ colours: Leather jackets and vest, blue jeans, bandanas
Vehicles: Harley-style Motorcycles
Activity: Security services, protection

The Bikers consist of several war veterans and motorcycle fanatics.
They act as a family and are very close to one another. Joining the
gang is difficult and not taken lightly among the members. One must
prove that they're worthy and this usually involving winning a race
against other bikers and perform several tasks to prove they're worthy
to be accepted. Once you're in the group, they will treat you as a
member of the family.

Storyline: Kent Paul decided that he needed security for a Love Fist
concert. So he asked Tommy Vercetti to go get the Bikers and hire them
as the security. Tommy first had to become a member of the gang before
they would do the security. So Tommy performed several tasks for the
gang including getting Big Mitch's bike back after it was stolen.
Eventually, Tommy is accepted into the gang and Big Mitch agrees to
provide security for the concert which goes off without any problems.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-BLFT. Blood Feather Triads

City: San Fierro
Turf: Chinatown
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Black suits, traditional red and white Chinese
clothing.
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Possibly involved in gambling

The Blood Feathers were a section of the Chinese Triad group in San
Fierro. Little is known about them as the gang was completely wiped
out by the Da Nang Boys, a Vietnamese gang, who moved to San Fierro in
the early 1990's. The Blood Feather Triads appeared to have been
targeted first by the Da Nang Boys as they were the weakest group of
the Triads. It didn't appear that the Blood Feathers had much control
or influence over the Triad operations or in the city of San Fierro.

Storyline: CJ and Woozie go to the Blood Feathers in an attempt to
strengthen their alliance in order to stop the Da Nang Boys. CJ and
Woozie were too late as the Da Nang Boys had already killed all the
Blood Feathers gang members. They attacked CJ and Woozie who managed
to escape after a brief chase. This action by the Da Nang Boys starts
a gang war between the Triads and themselves.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-CH. Cholos

City: Vice City
Turf: Little Havana
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Gang shirts
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Drug and weapon distribution

In the early 1980's the Cholos controlled the Little Havana area and
the majority of the illegal business in Vice City. They were involved
in drugs, guns, and several other business fronts. The Cholos were
involved in a constant war with the Trailer Park Mafia as well as Phil
Cassidy over their business fronts. In 1984, Los Cabrones arrived in
Vice City and started a massive turf war with the Cholos for control of
Little Havana. The Cholos fought Los Cabrones off for a short time but
were eventually wiped out that same year.

Storyline: In 1984 the Cholos had control of Little Havana. Los
Cabrones arrived in Vice City and started a turf war with the Cholos
over Little Havana. The leader of Los Cabrones, Umberto Robina,
acquired the help of Victor Vance to assist Umberto and his gang in
taking out the Cholos. That same year they were successful and Los
Cabrones took over.

C-COC. Columbian Cartel

City: Liberty City
Turf: Cedar Grove, Construction Site (Port Staunton)
Leader: Currently unknown, 1998 - Miguel, 2000 - Cisco, 2001 - Catalina
and Miguel
Clothes/ colours: Navy blue pants, Hawaiian shirts
Vehicles: Cartel Cruiser
Activity: Drug distribution

In 1998, the Cartel was led by Miguel (who leads in GTA III) and seemed
to be just starting out in Liberty City. They were heavy into the drug
business, which was their primary business front. In 2000, the
Columbian Cartel was lead by Cisco. It is unknown why or how Miguel
fell from leader of the Cartel during this time. They were primarily
involved in the drugs industry under Cisco's leadership as well. A man
by the name of Mike started working for the Cartel during the same
year. Mike began working with the Cartel after he had killed and beat
up several of the Cartel's high officials. Cisco, not knowing of the
murders, hired Mike for his brutality. The Cartel started some bad
blood with the Yakuza by kidnapping the Yakuza leader's niece. She was
eventually broken out by Mike. Cisco is eventually killed by a man
that Mike thought was dead. In 2001, Catalina and Miguel took over the
Cartel. They used the Cartel to sell their new drug, SPANK, to Liberty
City. Catalina, however, was still obsessed with ending her former
boyfriend's, Claude's, life and eventually was killed by Claude along
with several high ranking members in the Cartel. It's unknown what
happened to the Cartel after that.

Storyline: In 1998, the Cartel wasn't big time just yet. They were led
by Miguel who would later lose his power to Cisco and then regain it
thanks to Catalina. They were already into the drug business. In
2000, Cisco hired Mike for the Cartel and Mike would work with them
until he started to work for the Yakuza. Mike then went back to the
Cartel when Cisco said that he had information about Mike's friend's
(Vinnie) killer. Cisco was then murdered by Vinnie himself. In 2001,
Catalina and Miguel took over the Cartel. They used the Cartel to
distribute their new drug, SPANK. Catalina also used the Cartel to
attempt to kill Claude but they were unsuccessful. Miguel was captured
by Claude and Asuka. He proceeded to give up valuable information to
Asuka as a result of her torture. Catalina returned to where Miguel
was captured, killed Miguel and Asuka, and kidnapped Claude's
girlfriend, Maria. Claude followed them and managed to kill Catalina
as well as numerous Cartel members. It is unknown what happened after
this to the Cartel.

C-COL. Columbians (Vice City)

City: Vice City
Turf: Starfish Island, Diaz Mansion
Leader: Ricardo Diaz
Clothes/ colours: Hawaiian shirts and dark pants.
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Protection, drug dealing

In the mid 1980's the Vice City Columbians became extremely powerful
and held a great deal of influence over Vice City. They ruled the
city. The leader, Ricardo Diaz, had only been in the country for a few
years and had a reputation of being a hot head. He would do anything
and kill anyone to further the Columbian's business. They were heavily
into importing and selling of drugs. In 1986, however, the Columbian
gang interfered in a drug deal between the Vance Brothers and Tommy
Vercetti. Tommy eventually decimated the Columbians including killing
their leader, Ricardo Diaz. It's unknown if the gang regrouped or
ceased to exist in the following years.

Storyline: Ricardo Diaz was assisted by Victor Vance in 1984. Victor
did several jobs for Ricardo and when Victor and Lance left Vice City
for a short time, Ricardo took over most of their business. In 1986,
Ricardo Diaz had learned of Tommy Vercetti's drug deal and sent a team
to ambush it. They were successful. Tommy and the returning Lance
Vance set out to find who had done this. Tommy started working for
Diaz and soon discovered that it was Diaz who broke up their deal.
Tommy planned Diaz' downfall but Lance jumped the gun and attacked
Diaz. He was captured. Tommy broke him out, they stormed the Diaz
mansion, killed all of Diaz' men and then killed Diaz himself. It's
not known if some of the Diaz' gang members survived and restarted or
it ended at that point.

C-CULC. Cubans/ Los Cabrones

City: Vice City
Turf: Little Havana
Leader: Umberto Robina
Clothes/ colours: Red bandanas, white shirts, blue pants.
Vehicles: Cuban Hermes
Activity: Drug dealing, smuggling

In the mid 1980's, Cuban refugees came to Vice City in increasing
numbers due to its close proximity to Cuba. In 1984 a turf war broke
out between the newly arrived Los Cabrones and the Cholos in Vice City.
They fought with the Cholos for control of Little Havana and were
successful. Between this time and 1986 they began a turf war with
Haitian refugees in Vice City. Little Haiti and Little Havana are
located right beside each other and the pursuit of new territory may
have been a cause for this turf war. The war was back and forth with
neither side getting the upper hand. However, the Cubans eventually
crippled their Haitian rivals when several Cubans destroyed a Haitian
factory. The Cubans continued on with their business after this.

Storyline: In 1984, Los Cabrones came to Little Havana and started a
turf war with the Cholos for control of the area. They managed to wipe
out the Cholos with the help of Victor Vance. In 1986, they were in a
turf war with the Haitians. The Haitians tried to break up a deal the
Cubans were making with Ricardo Diaz and the Columbians but Tommy
Vercetti stopped them. Umberto Robina, the leader of the Cubans, hired
Tommy after he'd killed a man that did some jobs for Umberto. Tommy
first had to prove himself to Umberto and was successful. Tommy
proceeded to help the Cubans steal drugs from the Haitians and then
destroy the Haitian factory. It is assumed that the Cubans continued
along with their business after the turf war.

C-DANB. Da Nang Boys

City: San Fierro
Turf: Easter Basin
Leader: Currently unknown, 1992 - Snakehead
Clothes/ colours: Regular street clothes.
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Shipping, importing of illegal immigrants

The Da Nang Boys are a Vietnamese gang that moved to San Fierro in the
early 1990's. During the move they managed to kill the Blood Feather
Triads in an attempt to make their mark and seize territory. However,
they were quickly killed off by the Mountain Cloud Boys in retaliation
for this attack. It's not known if the remaining members returned to
Vietnam to rejoin the rest of the gang or not.

Storyline: In 1992, the Da Nang Boys attacked the Triad gangs in San
Fierro. The Triads questioned themselves on why the Da Nang Boys had
been on the offensive in recent weeks. The answer was found to be that
the entire group was relocating to San Fierro and looking to seize
territory. Woozie got CJ to bug the tanker that the Da Nang Boys
operated from to find this information. They also found that the
leader, Snakehead, is arriving in San Fierro and will be on the tanker.
CJ heads out to the tanker and kills all the Da Nang Boys on the boat
including the Snakehead. This ends the group's activities in San
Fierro.

C-DIA. Diablos

City: Liberty City
Turf: Hepburn Heights
Leader: El Burro
Clothes/ colours: Jeans, navy blue jackets, orange or navy blue hats.
Vehicles: Diablo Stallion
Activity: Car racing, burglary, small time activities.

The Diablos are a relatively small gang. They pride themselves on
being the top street racers of Liberty City. This causes issues
between the Yardies gang and themselves since both gangs were heavily
involved in street racing. Both gangs are located on separate islands
in the city but still managed to place hits and attacks on each other.
The Diablos only have small weapons such as handguns and bats. Their
other fronts include burglary and possibly some small time drug
dealing. The Diablos started making waves in 1998 on Portland Island.
By 2001, they controlled Hepburn Heights and the surrounding areas on
Portland after they won them in a turf war with the Leone Family.

Storyline: In 1998, the Diablos attacked the Leone Family in Hepburn
Heights in order to gain control of the area. The Diablos weren't
successful, thanks to Toni Cipriani, but after several more attacks
they were and the Leone Family lost Hepburn Heights, possibly forever.
In 2001, Claude gets a call from El Burro, the Diablo leader. He wants
Claude to work for him but he must prove himself first in a race.
Claude wins this race and shortly afterwards he performs some minor
jobs for El Burro before he stops doing business with them. Later,
Claude goes to work for the Yardies and in a job for them he guns down
numerous Diablos members. This severely hurt the group and its unknown
if anyone capitalized on this afterwards.

C-FOF. Forelli Family

City: Liberty City
Turf: St. Mark's Bistro
Leader: 1986 - Sonny Forelli, Franco Forelli by 1998
Clothes/ colours: Black suits, mafia style
Vehicles: Sentinel
Activity: Arms dealing, drug trafficking, protection, loan sharking.

The Forelli Family is a gang whose power has fluctuated over the years.
In the mid 1980's they had strong influence over much of Liberty City.
Attempts at expanding to Vice City would fail and would cause numerous
Forrelli Family member's deaths. In 1992, they joined with the Leone
and Sindacco Families to fund a casino in Las Venturas. That venture
would also fail as the Leone's took over, the casino was eventually
robbed and the Sindacco's would take over from there after the Leone
Family pulled out. In 1998, they were losing influence and numbers in
Liberty City. The Leone Family killed several more members in turf
wars involving all three families and the Sicilians. By 2001, the
Forelli Family had very little influence in Liberty City and were
almost wiped out by the Leone Family.

Storyline: In 1986, Sonny Forelli was the head of the Forelli Family.
He sent Tommy Vercetti down to Vice City to get things rolling down
there with a drug deal. The drug deal was ambushed and the money was
lost. Tommy promised he would get Sonny's money back but began forming
his own criminal empire in Vice City. The Forelli Family attempted to
take over Tommy's empire and failed. Sonny along with several Forelli
Family members were killed. In 1992, the Forelli Family had a part in
Caligula's Casino in Las Venturas. But the Leone Family took over the
casino, which would eventually be robbed by Carl Johnson and the
Triads. By 1998, the Forelli Family had minimal power in Liberty City.
They were caught in a war with the Sindacco and the Leone Families
thanks to a group of Sicilians. The Leone Family, mainly Toni
Cipriani, killed several Forelli Family members in this conflict. By
2001, the Forelli Family had lost a lot of influence in Liberty City.
Joey Leone started up some bad blood with them but Claude, working for
the Leone Family at the time, took care of the Forelli men that opposed
him.

C-GOL. Golfers

City: Vice City
Turf: Leaf Links Golf Course
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Regular golfing clothing.
Vehicles: Caddy
Activity: Playing golf

The golfers are a group in Vice City that are centered around the Leaf
Links Golf Course. They consist of elderly men and women, probably
retired, in golfing attire who love the club and sport. They aren't
particularly violent or well armed, however, they will attack with golf
clubs and even 9mm pistols if provoked or assaulted. They will only
resort to violence if you attack them first or disrupt their golf game.

Storyline: Tommy Vercetti encounters this group only a few times while
taking over Vice City in 1986. They aren't too hostile but on a few
occasions attack him. One particular incident happened after Tommy
Vercetti killed a man and several of his guards on the driving range in
the golf course area. Several nearby golfers attacked Tommy but he
managed to escape them.

C-GSF. Grove Street Families

City: Los Santos
Turf: Grove Street
Leader: Carl Johnson (CJ), Sean Johnson (Sweet)
Clothes/ colours: Any green clothing. Shirts, pants, bandanas, etc...
Vehicles: Savanna, Greenwood, Blade, Voodoo (Credit: Dan Justice,
Nitzhi Volganopol)
Activity: Robbery, land/ property acquisition

The Grove Street Families were originally formed somewhere in the
1980's. The Johnson brothers, Sean and Carl, along with Big Smoke and
Ryder lead the group. Due to fighting among the family, rival gangs,
and drugs the Grove Street Family lost much of its influence by the
early 1990's. In 1992, Carl returned to Los Santos and began helping
the Grove Street Families regain territory and influence. However, due
to the defection of Big Smoke and Ryder and the murder of several top
members, the Grove Street Family was almost wiped out. Later that
year, the Grove Street Families returned and were eventually able to
wipe out most of the other gangs in Los Santos. They allied themselves
with the Varrios Los Aztecas at this point.

Storyline: The downfall of the gang started around 1987 when a mistake
by Carl allowed the youngest brother in the family, Brian, to be
killed. Carl left Los Santos and went to Liberty City. In 1992, the
Johnson's mother was killed and Carl returned. Upon his return he was
framed for a cop's murder and found his former gang to have lost
influence and been broken up through fighting among themselves. Carl
set out to bring the gang back to life. He managed to starting gaining
influence again but found drugs had become a big problem with the
former members. Carl looked to be succeeding until the Grove Street
Family was betrayed by Big Smoke and Ryder. Several high ranking
members were killed in the incident and Sweet was placed in jail. Carl
was forced out of Los Santos. While Carl went around other cities and
towns in San Andreas he was able to acquire a garage, an airstrip, and
become a partial owner of a casino. He killed Ryder and a number of
individuals that he thought were involved in the drug operation that
cost him his family and gang. He returned to Los Santos with new
allies and was able to take back his neighbourhood. Sweet was released
from jail. Carl and Sweet got the Grove Street Family together again
and they eventually killed Big Smoke and most of the rival gang, the
Ballas. It's unknown whether the family was able to maintain their
influence in the following years.

C-HAI. Haitians

City: Vice City
Turf: Little Haiti
Leader: Auntie Poulet
Clothes/ colours: Purple bandanas and shirts, blue pants.
Vehicles: Voodoo
Activity: Drug dealing, smuggling

In the mid 1980's, Cuban refugees came to Vice City in increasing
numbers due to its close proximity to Haiti. At some point they began
a turf war with Cuban refugees in Vice City. The war was very back and
forth with no one getting the upper hand. The Haitians were able to
win several key fights between the gangs; however, the Cubans
eventually crippled the Haitians when several of them destroyed a
Haitian factory. The Haitian gang was not heard from after that point
and are believed to be either gone or in very few numbers.

Storyline: In 1986, the Haitians were involved in a turf war with the
Cubans in Vice City. The Cubans were aided by Tommy Vercetti in
several missions. However, Auntie Poulet used some special potions and
brainwashing to get Tommy to perform a few tasks for the Haitians. He
helped them in several fights with the Cubans. However, Tommy went
back to work for the Cubans and blew up the Haitian factory which may
have crippled the Haitian gang. It's unknown what happened after this.

Comments: A lot of the dialogue for GTA Vice City referencing the
killing of Haitians had to be removed or edited in later versions or
re-releases of the game. This was due to the Haitian community's
reaction over the negative treatment of their culture/ group and the
image it portrayed of them. But apparently it's ok to reference the
killing of Italians, Cubans (although the Cubans also had problems with
this), Columbians, French, etc... It's a game people, get over it.

C-LFM. Leone Family

City: Liberty City
Turf: Saint Mark's
Leader: Currently Joey Leone or Toni Cipriani, formerly Salvatore Leone
(formation of family in 80's until 2001)
Clothes/ colours: Black suits, sunglasses, mafia style
Vehicles: Mafia Sentinel
Activity: Protection, gambling, prostitution, drug trafficking

Little is known about the Leone Family before the 1990's. Salvatore
Leone became the leader sometime in the 1980's after a power struggle
in the family. In 1992, they were a third owner of a casino in Las
Venturas called Caligula's Casino. This was thanks to Salvatore
lending the Sindacco Family $5 million as an investment for the casino.
The Leone Family waited for the right time and that same year they made
their move. Taking over the casino, they were able to basically wipe
out the Sindacco Family. The Forelli Family sent men after the Leone's
but they were killed as well. However, the casino was later robbed and
it is assumed that the Leone's pulled out of the casino after that
incident. The Sindacco's took it over again afterwards. In 1998, the
Leone's made further pushes in Liberty City when Toni Cipriani returned
to the family. They killed several Sindacco and Forelli Family members
in a turf war. They also lost a lot of territory to the Diablos,
Triads, and Yakuza. By 2001, the Leone's were in gang wars with the
Yakuza, Cartel, and Forelli's. This put a severe strain on their
resources. The biggest blow came when Salvatore Leone was murdered by
a former employee named Claude. It is assumed that either Joey Leone,
Salvatore's son, or Toni Cipriani, Salvatore's right hand man took over
the family.

Storyline: In 1992, the Leone Family took control of Caligula's Casino
from the Sindacco and Forelli Families. Retaliation was met with by
Carl Johnson who was working for the Leone's at the time. What
Salvatore Leone didn't know was that Carl was planning a heist on the
casino and using his access to gather information. Carl eventually
robbed the casino and it's believed that the Leone's pulled out of the
casino at this point or shortly afterwards. In 1998, Toni Cipriani
returned to Liberty City and the Leone Family after performing a hit on
a "made" man in the city in 1994. Toni helped Salvatore expand the
Leone's influence by first killing the mayor of Liberty City. They
would also end the Sindacco Family in Liberty City and kill a great
deal of Forelli Family members. However, they lost territory to the
Diablos, Triads, and Yakuza during that time. Toni would eventually
become Salvatore's right hand man. By 2001, the Leone's had lost some
influence in the city but recruited Claude to do work for them. With
his help the Leone's were able to eliminate the Triad threat and
destroy a huge tanker owned by the Columbian Cartel. Salvatore began
to believe that Claude had betrayed him. Salvatore set up a trap but
Maria, Salvatore's former lover, saved Claude. Through Maria's
connections, Claude began to work with the Yakuza. He had to prove to
the Yakuza that he was no longer allied with the Leone's and,
therefore, killed Salvatore.

C-MBR. Mendez Brothers

City: Vice City
Turf: Vice City (City-wide influence)
Leader: Armando and Diego Mendez
Clothes/ colours: Light coloured suits/ clothing
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Drug trafficking/ distribution

The Mendez Brothers were a huge drug cartel that choked Vice City in
the 1980's. They were the largest cartel in the city and would kill
anyone in their way. The Mendez Brothers supplied the Vice City
citizens with drugs and were involved in any drug deal that took place
in the city. Lead by Armando and Diego they maintained their power
until 1984 when the group was killed off by the Vance Brothers after a
turf war was started between them.

Storyline: In 1984, they had a deal setup with the Vance Brothers and
Jerry Martinez. The deal went bad and the Mendez Brothers were set to
kill everyone involved. Lance managed to talk them into working with
the Vance Brothers as business partners. However, this was just a
setup and they attacked the Vance's. The Vance Brothers killed the
Mendez Brothers and most of their bodyguards. It's believed that the
group was ended at that point.

C-MCBT. Mountain Cloud Boys (Triads)

City: San Fierro, Las Venturas
Turf: Chinatown (SF), Four Dragons Casino (LV)
Leader: Wu Zi Mu
Clothes/ colours: Black suits
Vehicles: Sultan and Stratum (Credit: Nitzhi Volganopol)
Activity: Casino operating, street racing.

In the early 1990's the Mountain Cloud Boys attempted to bring together
the Triad groups in San Fierro in order to unite them against a
Vietnamese gang known as the Da Nang Boys. Located in San Fierro, the
Da Nang Boys choose the Triad territory as their new area of business.
The Da Nang Boys killed the entire Blood Feather Triads before the
Mountain Cloud Boys could ally with them. As retaliation, the Mountain
Cloud Boys and Carl Johnson managed to kill several Da Nang Boys
members in the following attack. The Da Nang Boys were becoming
increasingly aggressive because the group was making a full move to San
Fierro from Vietnam. The Mountain Cloud Boys lead an attack on the Da
Nang Boys' tanker out in the bay, north of San Fierro. Killing all the
Da Nang Boys within including their leader, Snakehead, the Mountain
Cloud Boys had ended the threat. They soon moved primary operations to
Las Venturas in the Four Dragons Casino. Facing pressures from the
Mafia the Mountain Cloud Boys, along with Carl Johnson, were able to
rob the Mafia's casino and end their threat. The Mountain Cloud Boys
would become strong allies of the Grove Street Families.

Storyline: CJ first meets Wu Zi Mu (Woozie for short) out near Red
County. They have a race and CJ ends up winning. CJ moves to San
Fierro after winning a garage from Catalina and Claude. CJ and Woozie
proceed to team up and face off with the Da Nang Boys after they killed
the Blood Feather Triads. In order to gather more information CJ swims
out to the Da Nang Boys' tanker and planted a bug on their
communication devices. Listening in, they found that the entire Da
Nang Boys gang is moving to San Fierro. In an attempt to stop them, CJ
heads out to the tanker and kills the entire gang, frees some refugees,
and kills the Da Nang Boys' leader, Snakehead. Afterwards, the
Mountain Cloud Boys move their main operations to Las Venturas and open
a casino called the Four Dragons. They run into problems when the
Mafia give them a hard time. CJ performs several tasks to get the
Mafia off the Mountain Cloud Boys' back. Eventually, CJ and Woozie set
up a heist on the Mafia casino and it is successful. The Grove Street
Family and the Mountain Cloud Boys become allies.

C-PUN. Purple Nines

City: Liberty City
Turf: Wichita Gardens
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Jeans, purple jackets.
Vehicles: Hoods Rumpo XL
Activity: Burglary, robbery, drug dealing.

In 2000 or 2001, the Purple Nines started up as a small gang in Wichita
Gardens in Liberty City. They mainly dealt with drug dealing of a new
drug, SPANK, supplied by the Cartel and the Yardies. The Purple Nines
were also into burglary and small time robbery. Unfortunately, their
turf was originally and currently the turf of the Red Jacks. This
started a gang war between the two groups. The Red Jacks were
eventually able to wipe out the Purple Nines and end their short
history.

Storyline: The Purple Nines started up in 2000 or 2001. They quickly
tried to take over the territory of the Red Jacks. Their main front
was the sale of SPANK supplied by the Columbian Cartel. The Red Jacks
decided to enlist the help of Claude in 2001 to deal with the Purple
Nines problem. They first got him to kill any Purple Nine he saw on
the street which quickly decreased their numbers. Afterwards, there
wasn't much left for the gang so they decided to have one final battle
with the Red Jacks and Claude. Claude and a member of the Red Jacks
took on the remaining members of the Purple Nines and were able to
finish them off for good.

C-REGT. Red Gecko Tong (Triads)

City: San Fierro, Las Venturas
Turf: Chinatown (SF), Four Dragons Casino (LV)
Leader: Ran Fa Li
Clothes/ colours: Black suits
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Gambling

The Red Gecko Tong's are led by Ran Fa Li. They're a section of the
Triads in San Fierro. In the early 1990's, one of the sects, the Blood
Feather Triads, were killed by a Vietnamese gang known as the Da Nang
Boys. Ran Fa Li and Wu Zi Mu, leader of the Mountain Cloud Boys, come
together to form a union in the Triad gang to fight the Vietnamese
group. They were successful in destroying the Da Nang Boys thanks to
the help of Carl Johnson. Later that year, Ran Fa Li became a partial
owner of the Four Dragons Casino in Las Venturas with the Mountain
Cloud Boys and the Grove Street Families.

Storyline: CJ first meets Ran Fa Li when he is introduced by Wu Zi Mu.
CJ recovers some packages for Ran Fa Li and helps him to leave the
Mountain Cloud Boys betting shop safely by creating a diversion. CJ
also ends up killing off the entire Da Nang Boys gang. Later on, Ran
Fa Li becomes a partial owner of the Four Dragons Casino in Las
Venturas with CJ and Wu Zi Mu. Ran Fa Li, apparently, is ranked higher
than Wu Zi Mu in the Triad organization.

C-REJ. Red Jacks

City: Liberty City
Turf: Wichita Gardens
Leader: D-Ice
Clothes/ colours: Jeans, red jackets.
Vehicles: Hoods Rumpo XL
Activity: Burglary, robbery, drug dealing.

In 2000, the Red Jacks were ruling the neighbourhood of Wichita Gardens
in Liberty City. Then in 2000 or 2001 the Purple Nines arrived on the
scene and staked their claim on the Wichita Gardens area. The Red
Jacks and Purple Nines immediately erupted into a gang war for control
of the area. The groups had very similar fronts and activities so the
gang war wasn't just based on territory. Both distributed drugs on the
streets so the other gang's activities would cost them profit. In
2001, the Red Jacks decided to end the Purple Nines' threat. A series
of shoot outs and fist fights broke out and the Red Jacks killed off
the Purple Nines gang entirely.

Storyline: In 2001, D-Ice, the leader of the Red Jacks, enlisted the
help of Claude to eliminate the Purple Nines forever. He first went
out to the streets and killed every Purple Nines he saw. This
decimated the Purple Nines numbers and they decided to make one final
stand against the Red Jacks. Claude and a Red Jack member (D-Ice's
brother) fought with the remaining members of the Purple Nines and won.
This ended the Purple Nines and established the Red Jacks as the top
gang (only gang) in Wichita Gardens.

Sometime before 1992, the Rifa and the Ballas (Los Santos) allied
themselves in a business deal. This was in large part thanks to the
Loco Syndicate that the Rifa leader, T-Bone Mendez, was a part of. The
Rifa would manufacture drugs in San Fierro and then send them to Los
Santos for the Ballas to sell on the streets. Both groups profited
from this and it was the main form of income for the gangs. However,
in 1992 the factory was destroyed and T-Bone Mendez was killed. The
group is believed to have disbanded or continued on in a weakened
state.

Storyline: It isn't known when the Rifa gang was formed. They primarily
manufactured and sold drugs to other groups as well as the Ballas gang
in Los Santos. They were lead by T-Bone Mendez. In 1992, the Ballas
destroyed the Grove Street Families, their biggest rivals. One of the
leaders, Carl Johnson, took his revenge on the Ballas and destroyed the
Rifa's drug plant so the Ballas could no longer get their supply of
drugs. CJ also killed T-Bone Mendez.

C-SEG. Security Guards

City: Vice City
Turf: Starfish Island, North Point Mall, Leaf Links, Escobar
International Airport
Leader: Company - Patrol Invest Group (P.I.G.)
Clothes/ colours: Dark blue officer uniforms
Vehicles: Baggage Handler (airport only)
Activity: Protection, smuggling.

Security guards are hired by certain companies for protection and
security purposes. The main company is called Patrol Invest Group. In
the mid 1980's they were in high demand in Vice City because of the
huge increase in criminal and drug activities. They will usually
shoot, before asking questions, at anyone they feel is up to no good.
These security guards are often chased by police officers. The reason
for this is that the police don't see them as a legitimate security
company and because they randomly shoot at anyone. It's believed that
the group uses Escobar International Airport for smuggling activities.

Storyline: Tommy Vercetti encounters these guards several times in Vice
City in 1986. They're involved in numerous conflicts mainly around the
North Point Mall. This is the turf of the Streetwannabe's so the
conflict of the two groups is sparked easily. The security guards are
often chased by cops for their "shot first, asked questions later"
attitudes. It's believed that the Security Guards use Escobar
International Airport for smuggling activities.

C-SFM. Sindacco Family

City: Liberty City, Las Venturas
Turf: Portland (LC), Caligula's Casino (LV)
Leader: 1992 - Johnny Sindacco, 1998 - Paulie Sindacco
Clothes/ colours: Suits, sunglasses, leather jackets
Vehicles: Sindacco Argento (LC) (Credit: Dan Justice), Admiral (LV)
(Credit: Nitzhi Volganopol)
Activity: Protection, gambling, prostitution, drug dealing.

In the early 1990's, the Sindaccos were one of three Liberty City mafia
families that owned shares of Caligula's Casino in Las Venturas. They
were able to fund this after a loan of $5 million from the Leone's.
Out of the 3 mafia families the Sindacco's were that ones that seem
most interested in Las Venturas as a business opportunity. They
maintained a warehouse in Las Venturas where they manufactured fake
betting chips to distribute at rival casinos to disrupt their business.
They also owned a meat factory. However, the Sindacco's time ran out
in 1992 when management at the Four Dragons Casino killed almost every
member of the Sindacco Family in their meat factory in Las Venturas.
In 1998, the Sindacco's had become a shell of their former selves.
They would be caught in turf wars with the Leone's and the Forelli's in
Liberty City. The Leone's would eventually finish off the Sindacco
Family for good in the city. It's believed that the Sindacco's then
left Liberty City to operate full time in Las Venturas at the casino.

Storyline: In 1992, Johnny Sindacco led the Sindacco Family. He was
captured by Woozie and CJ drove him around town tied to the front of a
car to get information out of him. Based on this, CJ was able to
destroy the Sindacco plastic warehouse and stop their fake chip
production. Johnny was released from hospital after the trauma he
suffered thanks to CJ. CJ went to meet Johnny and the Sindacco's as a
favour to Ken Rosenburg. When Johnny recognized CJ he died of a heart
attack. CJ proceeded to kill all the Sindacco Family members in the
factory and, basically, destroyed the family. By 1998 they had very
little influence in Liberty City but were operating the casino in Las
Venturas still and profiting. The Sindacco's got in a turf war with
the Forelli's and the Leone's. Toni Cipriani managed to finish off the
Sindacco's for good in Liberty City. It’s believed that they decided
to focus on the casino in Las Venturas after this.

C-STW. Streetwannabe's

City: Vice City
Turf: North Point Mall, Prawn Island
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Blue jeans, leather jacket, red shirts.
Vehicles: Gang Burrito
Activity: Theft, arms dealing.

The Streetwannabe's are a small gang of wannabe thugs in Vice City. In
the 1980's they took part in several minor acts against other gangs in
Vice City to increase their reputation but were usually dealt with
quickly. They mostly deal with theft of drugs or weapons and then
resell them on the streets for profit. The Streetwannabe's focus
mainly around the North Point Mall in Vice City and can often be seen
in conflicts with the local security guards.

Storyline: Tommy Vercetti deals with the Streetwannabe's several times
during his rise in Vice City in 1986. Ricardo Diaz finds that one of
his men is working with them and has been stealing extra cash from
Diaz. He assigns Tommy to follow him. Tommy finds the man head into an
abandoned house on Prawn Island. Tommy returns in a helicopter and
slaughters most of the members there. He then travels on foot and
recovers Diaz' drugs. Later, the Streetwannabe's steal Big Mitch
Baker's bike and Tommy Vercetti recovers it from the group.

C-TRLC. The Triads (Liberty City)

City: Liberty City
Turf: Chinatown
Leader: Unknown
Clothes/ colours: Blue uniforms (like a mechanic's clothes)
Vehicles: Fish Van
Activity: Food distribution (fish), protection.

The Triads of Liberty City were never an organized group or held much
power until 1998. At that time, they sabotaged a Leone Family complex
and destroyed it. This site would later become a Fish Factory for the
Triads. During the following years the Triads gained more and more
influence on Portland Island. They were never major but had a good
front and numerous members. In 2001, the Triads started a war with the
Leone Family again by attacking some high ranking members. With the
help of Claude, the Leone's were able to kill several high ranking
members of the Triads and destroy the Triad Fish Factory. The Triad
influence seemed to drop after that incident.

Storyline: The Triads weren't much of a group until they destroyed a
Leone Family facility in 1998. Toni Cipriani was in the building and
managed to survive the explosion and the following swarm of Triad
members. This could be the cause for his strong hatred of the Triads
by 2001. The Triads rebuilt the building as their Fish Factory, a
legitimate front for the group. Subsequent attacks on the Leone Family
allowed them to gain more territory. In 2001, the Triads started a
gang war with the Leone's by first attacking Toni Cipriani. He
instructed Claude to take out several Triad leaders and destroy their
Fish Factory in Portland. Claude accomplished this and ended the
threat from the Triads.

C-TRPM. Trailer Park Mafia

City: Vice City
Turf: Trailer Park
Leader: Marty Jay Williams
Clothes/ colours: Dirty jeans, wife beater shirts.
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Drug distribution, prostitution, protection.

The Trailer Park Mafia existed in the poor neighbourhoods of Vice City
in the early 1980's. They took advantage of the poor civilians in
these areas and squeezed all they could out of them. Their activities
cause problems with other local gangs but they fail to care about these
matters. Their leader is killed in 1984 and the group is broken up
after this.

Storyline: Marty Jay Williams leads the Trailer Park Mafia in the
1980's. In 1984, they start working with Victor Vance. Marty was
constantly abusive to his wife, Louise. She eventually tries to leave
but Marty kidnaps her. Victor Vance tracks him down and kills him
before he can get to his hideout. The group breaks up and Vic takes
over their business after this. It's unknown if the group reforms
later on.

C-VAG. Vagos

City: Los Santos

Clothes/ colours: Dark pants/ shorts, white shirts (wife-beaters), any
yellow bandanas, hats or other clothing.
Vehicles: Voodoo, Tornado, Ocean, Hermes (Credit: Nitzhi Volganopol)
Activity: Drug distribution, robbery.

In the early 1990's (or late 1980's) the Vagos allied themselves with
the Ballas in a drug distribution empire lead by Officer Tenpenny of
the LSPD's CRASH dept. In 1992, the Ballas wiped out the Grove Street
Families the Vagos were able to wipe out the Varrios Los Aztecas, the
rival Hispanic gang. Taking over their territory, the Vagos enjoyed a
time of dominance along with the Ballas. However, the Grove Street
Families and the Varrios Los Aztecas returned and killed numerous Vagos
members. They would eventually lose most or all of their territory.

Storyline: In 1992, the Ballas wiped out the Grove Street Families the
Vagos had several Varrios Los Aztecas members defect to them due to
drugs. The Vagos killed most of the remaining Varrios Los Aztecas
members and took over their territory. They enjoyed this time as an
ally of the Ballas and the Loco Syndicate. Eventually, Cesar (former
leader of the Varrios Los Aztecas) returned and with the help of CJ and
other Varrios Los Aztecas members they killed the Vagos. It's unknown
if the gang survived after this decimation.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-VLA. Varrios Los Aztecas

City: Los Santos
Turf: El Corona
Leader: Cesar Vialpando
Clothes/ colours: Any turquoise clothing. Wife-beaters, pants,
bandanas.
Vehicles: Any low-rider
Activity: Street racing, car modifications (car shops)

In 1992, the Varrios Los Aztecas were in a turf war with the Vagos.
The Vagos represented the Mexican gangs involved in drugs distribution.
The Los Aztecas wanted nothing to do with drugs and focused primarily
on car racing and modifying of cars. However, the Vagos allied
themselves with the Ballas and managed to kill most of the Varrios Los
Aztecas members. Several others turned on their friends and joined the
Vagos because of the drugs. Cesar Vialpando and several high ranking
members fled Los Santos. A while later they returned and allied with
the Grove Street Families, managing to kill off most of the Vagos
members and reclaim their territory.

Storyline: In 1992, Cesar Vialpando led the Varrios Los Aztecas. After
the Ballas and Vagos killed most of the Varrios Los Aztecas and Grove
Street Families members, Cesar, CJ, Kendl, and other members of both
gangs left Los Santos. They set up base in a garage in San Fierro to
figure out a strategy on getting back their territory in Los Santos.
Eventually, CJ and Cesar made it back into Los Santos. CJ helped Cesar
and several members of the Varrios Los Aztecas fight off and kill most
of the Vagos gangs and reclaim their territory. Cesar and CJ created a
strong alliance between their two groups but it is unknown if it
lasted.

C-VGCR. Vercetti Gang/ Crime Ring

City: Vice City
Turf: Various locations, Starfish Island
Leader: Tommy Vercetti
Clothes/ colours: Hawaiian shirts and navy blue pants.
Vehicles: Unknown
Activity: Protection, drug trafficking, counterfeiting, various
businesses used as fronts.

In the mid 1980's the Vercetti gang appeared, basically, overnight.
After completely destroying the Diaz (Columbian) gang, the Vercetti
gang took over most of their property. The Vercetti Gang was involved
in tons of property acquisition which included such companies as the
Print Works, Boatyard, Kauffmann Cabs, Pole Position, and several
others. After an attempt to destroy the gang by their former allies,
the Forelli’s, the Vercetti Gang settled in to their spot at the top of
Vice City. It's reported that the Vercetti Gang was still running Vice
City in 1992.

Storyline: In 1986, after Tommy Vercetti killed Ricardo Diaz and most
of his gang, he took over Diaz' mansion. The new 'Vercetti' mansion on
Starfish Island became the central base for the Vercetti Gang. They
purchased several companies as fronts for their activities. Soon
enough, Tommy Vercetti's former bosses came looking for him. Tommy and
the Vercetti Gang took care of the Forelli threat and continued to gain
influence in the city.

-----------------------------------------------------------
C-YAK. Yakuza

City: Liberty City
Turf: Torrington
Leader: 1998 - Kasuki, 2001 - Asuka & Kenji, currently unknown
Clothes/ colours: Black suits, black clothing.
Vehicles: Yakuza Stinger
Activity: Gambling, extortion.

In 1998, the Yakuza had an immense arsenal. This included a tank and
other military weapons. However, the Leone Family were able to destroy
a great deal of this weaponry and slow the Yakuza take over in
Torrington. Unfortunately for the Leone's, the Yakuza still managed to
take over Torrington on Staunton Island. The Yakuza continued their
turf war with the Leone Family and started one with the Columbian
Cartel. These turf wars continued through 2001. However, the Leone
Family would suffer a significant blow from the Yakuza. The Yakuza
managed to kill Salvatore Leone, the Don of the family. The Yakuza
would suffer as well as both Kenji and his sister Asuka, the leaders of
the Yakuza, were killed. Both killed by the Columbian Cartel. The
Cartel would be almost completely wiped out shortly after that.

Storyline: In 1998, the Yakuza was building up their arsenal in Liberty
City. However, the leader, Kasuki Kasen, had a very vengeful wife.
They were in an arranged marriage and he preferred the company of men
over her (you catch my drift?). She wanted to see her husband dead and
his gang destroyed thanks to this lack of attention. So she hired Toni
Cipriani to perform a few jobs to destroy the gang, its arsenal and
kill Kasuki. Even so, they managed to take Torrington on Staunton
Island from the Leone Family. In 2001, the Yakuza were in turf wars
with the Leone Family and the Columbian Cartel. Asuka, one of the
leaders, would partner up with a former employee of the Leone Family
after he was betrayed. This person was Claude. Claude killed
Salvatore Leone and several assassin groups of Leone Family members
searching for Claude. Having put this war behind them, the Yakuza
focused on the Columbian Cartel. Asuka and Kenji sent Claude on
several missions to stop their activities. Claude would eventually
work for a media tycoon named Donald Love. Donald set up a plan to
kill Kenji and frame the Cartel. It worked. The Yakuza believed the
Cartel killed Kenji. Asuka launched a war of revenge against the
Cartel and their operations. But Asuka would eventually be killed by
the Cartel leader, Catalina.

C-YAR. Yardies

City: Liberty City
Turf: Newport
Leader: King Courtney
Clothes/ colours: Tan coloured vest and pants.
Vehicles: Yardie Lobo
Activity: Car racing, drug dealing

The Yardies are a street gang in Liberty City. They focus on street
racing and dealing of drugs as their primary fronts. In 2001, the
Yardies were allied with the Columbian Cartel to produce and distribute
a new drug called SPANK. The Yardies' drug fronts, coffee stands,
would be destroyed that year by the Yakuza. The Yardies would suffer
another blow later as the Columbian Cartel was almost completely wiped
out. It's most likely that the Yardies simply went back to the regular
drug dealing and car racing activities.

Storyline: In 2001, the Yardies allied with the Columbian Cartel to
distribute SPANK across Liberty City. During the same time, Claude
worked for them on a few missions to help collect cars and to try and
wipe out the Diablos in Portland. Once Claude was done with them he
was working for the Yakuza and destroyed the Yardies' front, their
coffee stands. Claude would later be responsible for the destruction
of the Columbian Cartel. It's likely that the Yardies continued on
with drug selling and car racing.

D. Characters

Well we've gone through the gangs and cities of the Grand Theft Auto
universe but now we get down to the characters. No 2 characters in the
GTA universe are alike. Past experiences and circumstances change
people's lives and set them down their own path or destiny. This
section will go through some of the more influential people in Grand
Theft Auto. As I have previously stated, if you have any comments or
wish I add someone's profile then email me and I'll work it out for
you. This section contains background information and a few comments
from me.

D-8B. 8-Ball

Full name: Unknown
Nicknames: 8-Ball
Affiliation: None specific.
Lives in: Liberty City

8-Ball is the man to go to in Liberty City when you need a bomb. He's
an explosives expert that operates 3 shops across the city. In 1998,
8-Ball helped out Toni Cipriani on several missions he did for Donald
Love. This was probably why he had such strong ties with the Leone
Family by 2001. Prior to the events in GTA III, 8-Ball suffered
injuries to both his hands. Although it was believe to be caused by a
cop spilling hot oil/ fat on them, GTA Advance reveals that he suffered
these injuries from a gang ambush. By 2001, 8-Ball is on his way to
jail with his hands bandaged up. However, the Columbian Cartel attacks
his police escort to break another man out. 8-Ball and a man he just
met named Claude (you may know him) use this opportunity to escape. 8-
Ball went back to work and introduced Claude to the Leone Family. 8-
Ball provide Claude with his explosive expertise on several occasions
including joining Claude in a mission to blow up a Cartel tanker.
However, the Leone Family betray Claude. Nothing is heard from 8-Ball
after this. It's assumed that he carried on regular business
operations.

Comments: Despite living in Liberty City, 8-Ball has bomb shops located
in Vice City and the San Andreas state. He sure does get around.

too attached to the drugs to leave B Dup. Once CJ comes back again,

business and the town. During one mission, Avery introduces Tommy to
his protégé, Donald Love. Donald Love seems to learn a lot off Avery
as he becomes a big business tycoon in Liberty City years later. When
Avery comes to Liberty City he plans to start up the Panlantic

Casa owned and operated a deli near Chinatown on Portland Island. It's
located in the heart of Sindacco Family territory which sparks ideas
that he could have been allied with the Sindacco's. Casa became Ma
Cipriani's lover some time in the mid 1990's. Ma always compared her
son, Toni, to Casa as she believed he was a good man and treated his
mother with respect. Toni knew that Casa was nothing but a pervert and
decided to show his mom the truth. He followed Casa and took pictures
of him dressed as a baby with some hookers but Ma wouldn't accept it

Cartel and introduces SPANK to the city along with her partner, Miguel.
She uses the Cartel to take out Claude but they fail. Eventually, she
kills Claude's business associate, Asuka, and kidnaps Claude's lover,
Maria. Claude chases after and kills her by blowing up the helicopter

D-CV. Cilli, Vincenzo

Full name: Vincenzo Cilli
Nicknames: Lucky
Affiliation: Leone Family
Lives in: Liberty City

In the early 1990's, Vincenzo was a small time member of the Leone
Mafia Family. At some point around 1994, Toni Cipriani killed a made
man and had to flee Liberty City. Vincenzo started to climb his way up
the family hierarchy. He became one of Salvatore's top men. When Toni
returned in 1998 he found Vincenzo had taken his place. Toni was
forced to work for Vincenzo. Vincenzo treated Toni like crap and with
no respect. Toni dealt with it for Salvatore's sake but was growing
increasingly impatient. Soon Vincenzo assigned Toni with picking up
his car and a stash of drugs in it. Toni went there but found the car
was a setup with the cops. Toni called up Vincenzo who said he knew it
was a setup but didn't care as sometimes you have to take risks. Toni
quit Vincenzo's employment and crushed his car. Vincenzo then called
to make peace. He invited Toni to a tanker to offload a shipment.
Toni entered the tanker and was trapped with a bunch of chainsaw
maniacs. Toni killed them and then killed Vincenzo.

D-CMS. Mrs. Cipriani

Full name: Mrs. Cipriani (no first name is given)
Nicknames: Ma, Ma Cipriani
Affiliation: Leone Family
Lives in: Liberty City

Mrs. Cipriani is the mother of Toni. Her husband was once part of the
mafia (probably the Leone Family) as well but was eventually killed or
died in an undisclosed manner. She holds Toni to the same standards as
her husband and is, thus, never satisfied with what he does. Toni is a
failure to her. In the mid 1990's Toni had to leave Liberty City after
killing a made man. In 1998, he returns and she sees Toni as bringing
a bad name to her family so she calls a hit on him. Toni fights off
the assassins and she eventually calls it off once Toni becomes 'made'.
She's proud of him at that point. Toni moves back in with his mother
and she resorts back to her old ways of putting him down. Even after
the hit attempt Toni still loves her and wishes to make her happy.

-----------------------------------------------------------
D-CT. Cipriani, Toni

Full name: Antonio Cipriani
Nicknames: Toni
Affiliation: Leone Family
Lives in: Liberty City

Toni Cipriani followed his father and got into the Leone Family mafia.
He made his way up the family ladder and was eventually asked to kill a
made man. Toni succeeded but had to leave Liberty City for several
years until it blew over (ala Michael in GodFather). Returning in
1998, Toni joined the Leone Family again. He was placed under
Vincenzo's watch, much to Toni's dismay. Working his way back up the
ladder, he becomes Don Salvatore’s right hand man. Toni helps
Salvatore in attempts to wipe out the other families in Liberty City.
They succeed in killing off the Sindacco Family. By 2001, Toni had
become the Don’s capo. Toni would hire Claude to do some work for him
usually involving the Triads. After Salvatore betrayed Claude, Claude
returned and killed Salvatore Leone. It's unknown whether Salvatore’s
son, Joey, or Toni Cipriani took over the family after that.

-----------------------------------------------------------
D-CLD. Claude

Full name: Claude
Nicknames: Fido, Kid
Affiliation: Has worked for multiple groups.
Lives in: San Fierro then moved to Liberty City

Claude originally lived in San Fierro and owned a garage. In 1992, he
started dating Catalina after she broke up with CJ. Claude and CJ
raced for pink slips but Claude ended up losing. He handed over the
deed to his garage to CJ. Claude and Catalina left for Liberty City.
During the next few years they probably robbed several stores and banks
in Liberty City. In 2001, they robbed another bank. On the way out
Catalina shot Claude stating that he was only small time. Claude was
sent to jail. However, on the trip to Liberty City Penitentiary the
Columbian Cartel inadvertently broke Claude out. He started to work
for the Leone Family but was eventually betrayed by them. Claude then
killed Salvatore Leone as payback for this betrayal. Claude continued
on his quest for revenge by working for the Yakuza. Eventually, Claude
was able to kill Catalina after she kidnapped his girlfriend, Maria.
He saved Maria and they moved on. But at the end of the game a shotgun
blast can be heard. It's possible that Claude shot her to shut her up
but nothing is certain.

Comments: Claude's name was speculated at during GTA III. He was never
referred to by name. Claude was the name fans gave him as some of the
GTA III disc files referred to the name Claude. This would later be
confirmed in GTA San Andreas when, after you have completed the game,
Catalina calls CJ and yells out Claude’s name during their intimate
love making. Claude's silence was also referred to in San Andreas.
When Claude doesn't respond to CJ's threats, CJ calls him a mute. So
this could mean that Claude actually is mute.

Hole in their pocket. In 1998, the mayor began to put too much
pressure on the Leone Family. Salvatore had Toni Cipriani kill the
mayor while he was in the park. Franco was irate and began backing
another candidate for the mayor spot. This was O'Donovan. O'Donovan
would win but the Leone Family saved his life from the Sicilians and he

operations and was about to let them be known. Tenpenny frames CJ for
this death. Eventually, the law begins to focus in on what Tenpenny
and gang are doing. Tenpenny becomes suspicious. When they are out in
the desert, Tenpenny smacks Hernandez with a shovel and calls him a

ferry workers out of business for good. Jane actually never cared if
the workers lost their jobs. She only cared about getting paid by
corrupt politicians or gangs to get the ferries operational again or
end the strike. The Leone Family was negatively affected by this
strike and weren't going to pay Hopper. Toni Cipriani killed the

Beverly is the mother of Sean, CJ, Kendl, and Brian Johnson. She
raised them on her own (the father's location or story is unknown).
She doesn't appear in GTA San Andreas but she is the key point to the
plot. When Brian was killed in 1987, as a result of an accident CJ
made, CJ left Los Santos for Liberty City. Beverly lost two sons that
day as CJ was too heartbroken to return and Brian was gone. She
continued on as a parent for Kendl and Sean. In 1992, she was gunned

accident that caused Brian's death. CJ never forgave himself. He left
Los Santos for Liberty City and only returned 5 years later when his
mom was killed.

-----------------------------------------------------------
D-JC. Johnson, Carl

Full name: Carl Johnson
Nicknames: CJ
Affiliation: Grove Street Families, allied with Triads and Varrios Los
Aztecas
Lives in: Los Santos

CJ was the second oldest son in the Johnson family. He and Sean
started up the Grove Street Families sometime in the mid 1980's.
However, CJ left Los Santos for Liberty City after a mistake he made
got Brian, his younger brother, killed. CJ cleaned himself up in
Liberty City and worked legitimately for 5 years (or so he says). In
1992 he returned to Los Santos because of the death of his mom. CJ
returned to find the Grove Street Families were a shell of their former
selves. He vowed to restore the gang to its former glory. However,
Big Smoke and Ryder turned on the families and most of the members were
slaughtered in a shoot out. CJ left Los Santos and established himself
elsewhere by obtaining a garage in San Fierro and then an airfield in
the desert. He became a partial owner of the Four Dragons Casino in
Las Venturas. He returned to Los Santos and proceeded to take his
territory back. Bringing the Grove Street Families back, he began to
take out the rival gangs. Eventually CJ killed the crooked cops
(Tenpenny and Pulaski), the turncoats Ryder and Big Smoke, and took
established the Grove Street Families as the top gang in Los Santos.

-----------------------------------------------------------
D-JK. Johnson, Kendl

Full name: Kendl Johnson
Nicknames: None.
Affiliation: Grove Street Families
Lives in: Los Santos

Kendl is the only daughter of Bev Johnson. When the Grove Street
Families were established, Kendl wanted no part of them as she wasn't
into violence and gangs. She was usually the one to stop the brothers
from fighting when they were younger. It's believed that Kendl was
there when Brian was killed by a mistake CJ made (you can hear it in
CJ's head when he enters his house at the beginning of the game).
After Brian's death CJ left for Liberty City. Kendl probably took this
hard as she had to deal with Brian's death and CJ leaving. In 1992, CJ
returned after their mom's death. Kendl was dating a Mexican named
Cesar at this time and Sean was having a problem with it. CJ had a
problem with it too but was less vocal. Eventually, CJ met Cesar and
they soon became friends. After the Grove Street Families were
decimated, CJ won a garage in San Fierro during a race. Kendl moved
out to San Fierro to run the business. When CJ became an owner of the
Four Dragons Casino, Kendl helped him with some of the business there
as well. She eventually returned to Los Santos with him and Cesar.

D-JS. Johnson, Sean

Full name: Sean Johnson
Nicknames: Sweet
Affiliation: Grove Street Families
Lives in: Los Santos

Sean is the oldest child in the Johnson family. He's a tough ass and
dictates what the other members of the family should do. He tries to
be the father figure in the family since they had grown up without one.
In the 1980's Sean and CJ formed the Grove Street Families. In 1987,
CJ made a mistake that got Brian, the youngest brother, killed. CJ
left Los Santos for Liberty City because of this. Sean saw this as
running from your problems and resented CJ for it. As hard as Sean
tried he couldn't maintain the Grove Street Families. Members began to
fight among themselves and the families fell apart. Drugs were also
introduced into Los Santos which furthered the problems. When their
mom was killed in 1992 it was believed that the people responsible were
trying to kill Sean. CJ returned home and Sean didn't give him a warm
welcome. He was still bitter over Brian's death. CJ began to rebuild
the Grove Street Families and earn back Sean's respect. Sean was still
hard on him probably because of the father figure he had become. He
disapproved of Kendl's boyfriend but she didn't care. When Ryder and
Big Smoke turned on the Grove Street Families, Sean was ambushed and
injured. He spent the next few weeks in jail awaiting trial. In jail,
Sweet got very depressed and called CJ several times to tell CJ to
forget about him. But CJ got Sweet out and they restored the Grove
Street Families.

bank and Cam broke the safe. As they escaped, Hilary was shot dead.
Cam's status is unknown.

Comment: The player can let Cam die or keep him alive in the mission.
Since he's not seen in the GTA universe after that it doesn't matter.
It's up to the player if he dies or not.

the car parking lot structure on Staunton Island. Several Yakuza
members witness this and the gang war between the Cartel and Yakuza
begins.

D-KT. Kasen, Toshiko

Full name: Toshiko Kasen
Nicknames: None.
Affiliation: Yakuza
Lives in: Liberty City

Toshiko is the wife of Yakuza leader Kazuki Kasen in 1998. They were
placed in an arranged marriage when they were younger so they aren't
madly in love with each other. Toshiko hates Kazuki as he enjoys
spending more time with his Yakuza men then he does with his wife (for
anyone who doesn't get why, Kazuki is gay). So she hires Toni Cipriani
to destroy the Yakuza and kill Kazuki. Toni destroys several of the
Yakuza's heavy artillery and then manages to kill Kazuki in a katana
sword fight on top of the Yakuza casino. Once Toni informs Toshiko
that her husband is dead she's overcome with feelings of regret, grief,
and remorse. She jumps out of her apartment window and is killed by
the fall.

D-KC. King Courtney

Full name: Unknown
Nicknames: King Courtney
Affiliation: Yardies
Lives in: Liberty City

King Courtney leads the Yardies gang on Staunton Island. They're into
street racing and distribution of SPANK and other drugs on the streets.
In 2001, King Courtney needed a driver. He held a race for anyone to
enter and Claude won. Claude is sent to Hepburn Heights to kill as
many members as possible of the Diablos gang. Claude also gathers some
gang cars for King Courtney so he can perform attacks on rival gangs.
Finally, King Courtney sends Claude to get something from a parked car.
When Claude gets there he finds it's a trap setup by King Courtney and
Catalina to kill him. This ended King Courtney's relationship with
Claude.

D-KH. King, Hilary

Full name: Hilary King
Nicknames: None.
Affiliation: Vercetti Gang
Lives in: Vice City

Hilary King was a highly skilled driver in 1986. He's known on the
street as one of the best drivers but was also known for having very
little confidence. Tommy asked Hilary to join him in his bank heist
but Hilary said he would agree only if Tommy would beat him in a race.
Tommy was able to win the race and they robbed the bank. However, in
an attempt to save Tommy, Phil, and Cam, Hilary was killed by the SWAT
team that came to arrest them.

Comment: Hilary's racing mission is thought to be one of the hardest
missions in GTA Vice City. I would have to agree.

D-LM. Latore, Maria

Full name: Maria Latore
Nicknames: None.
Affiliation: Leone Family, then went to the Yakuza
Lives in: Las Venturas, moved to Liberty City

Maria started out as a waitress in Caligula's Casino in Las Venturas.
In 1992, Salvatore Leone came to Las Venturas and took total control of
Caligula's Casino from the Forelli and Sindacco Families. Salvatore
and Maria start flirting and she becomes his girlfriend. She quits the
casino and moves with Salvatore back to Liberty City. Here, she has as
much money as she wants and people at her service. In 1998, she uses
Salvatore's man, Toni Cipriani, to drive her around as she robs places.
She even puts herself up as a prize in a street race. Maria then takes
a boyfriend who beats her up. Toni kills him for this. Maria
overdoses when Toni finds her again and he races around town to find a
counter drug and saves her life. In 2001, Maria is introduced to
Claude by Salvatore. Claude drives her around town to get drugs and
attend a party. Maria respects that he treated her very well and falls
for Claude. She informs Salvatore and he's furious. Salvatore
attempts to kill Claude but Maria helps him escape. Claude kills
Salvatore. Maria and Claude join the Yakuza gang thanks to Maria's
"friend" Asuka. Whenever Claude visits Asuka and Maria it appears that
they have an intimate relationship. Eventually, Catalina kidnaps Maria
but Claude rescues her. As Maria and Claude walk off she won't stop
talking and a gunshot is heard. It's unknown if Maria is killed or if
this was merely a joke by the developers.

Comment: In 1998, Maria is referred to as the wife of Salvatore. By
2001 she's only introduced as his "girl" or girlfriend. Since GTA: LCS
was developed after GTA3 we should take its history as correct.
Therefore, Maria and Salvatore married at some point between 1992 and
1998.

D-LJ. Leone, Joey

Full name: Joey Leone
Nicknames: None.
Affiliation: Leone Family
Lives in: Liberty City

Joey Leone is the only son (that we know about) of Salvatore Leone.
Joey doesn't appear to want to follow in the family footsteps. He goes
on personal feelings and holds any type of grudge he wants. Joey uses
family resources for his own purposes. In 2001, Joey was the owner of
a garage on Portland Island. He developed bad blood with the Forelli
Family but was quick to dispose of them. Joey would later lose his
father who was assassinated. It's unknown if Joey or Toni Cipriani,
the Don's capo, took over the family.

D-LS. Leone, Salvatore

Full name: Salvatore Leone
Nicknames: Don
Affiliation: Leone Family
Lives in: Liberty City

Salvatore Leone is the head of the Leone Family Mafia. He runs the
family business from his mansion on Portland Island. He has one son,
Joey, who runs a local garage. In 1992, the Leone Family owned a third
of the Caligula's Casino in Las Venturas. The other owners were the
Forelli’s and the Sindacco's. Salvatore decided to make his move, came
to Las Venturas and took over Caligula's Casino. With the help of CJ
he killed most of the Sindacco Family and an assassination group of
Forelli’s. But the casino would later be robbed by CJ. In 1998, a
returning Toni Cipriani assisted Salvatore in taking out the Sindacco
Family and decimating the Forelli Family. However, the Diablos,
Yakuza, and Triads would move in on the Leone turf and take over
several key areas. By 2001, the Leone Family had lost a lot of turf.
They were in wars with the Yakuza, Cartel, and the Triads. Salvatore
got Claude to do some work against these gangs. But Salvatore would
eventually betray Claude after he thought that Claude was going behind
his back with Maria. Claude would return and kill Salvatore as he was
leaving the Sex Club 7. It's unknown who took over the family after
this time.

on in establishing the Four Dragons Casino in Las Venturas and becomes

could from Avery about business and how to develop property. Donald
later moved to Liberty City and began building his own empire. He
decided to run for mayor in 1998, but lost, and in the process, lost
$20 million. He had nothing. He got Toni Cipriani to kill his former
mentor, Avery Carrington, in order to steal his plans for the Panlantic
Corporation. Toni was successful and Donald Love began to build his
empire back up. By 2001, Donald ran the Love Media company which owned
most of Liberty City. He hired Claude to rescue a friend of his and
