This is my first FAQ on gamefaqs.com (and in general)! I've been a user of this
website for many years, but have never endeavored to submit a FAQ. I thought
that now would be a good time to give back to the community because I can make
out some of the Japanese in Brave Story, and it seems like there is a lot of
demand for a quick explanation of the menu and the Japanese words, because a
lot of players are importing the game. I have only taken 4 semesters of
Japanese in college, so some of the translations might be wrong, but please
feel free to email me with questions or corrections.
Version History:
Version 1.1: Added additional submenus in the world menu (specifically, book,
synthesis, and bird menus). Minor corrections and formatting changes. Added
copyright section.

0.A Introduction:

Brave Stroy: Aratanaru Tabibito is a game made by Game Republic, released in
Japan on 7/8/2006 for the PSP. The premise is based off of the anime movie
Brave Story by Miyuki Miyabe, but the storyline follows a boy (whom you get to
name) on a quest to save his friend, who collapses mysteriously one day during
a walk in a park.
Since I'm a Japanese student, I tend to prefer the JSL romanization of kana,
because it's more logical. However, when the Hepburn romanization differs from
the JSL reading, I have provided that reading in (parentheses).
The format of the menu will be the following:
kanji - hiragana/katakana - JSL reading (Hepburn reading) - explanation
