To beat the great spider u have to use fire spell which cause great damage like "fire lance" and special fire combo.

...Your pretty much under-trained.You skipped & missed too many things.In Chapter 4,you should do this.At the beginning,DO NOT use Spiritual Concentration.Lezard will not appear if you used Spiritual Concentration and visited the Seal Reducing scenes early.Before Spiritual Concentration,visit Brahm's Castle,Weeping Lilies Meadow and visit Lucian's town.Then use spiritual concentration and continue the game as per normal.You have to restart the game if you want to get the A ending.The Great Spider is fairly easy to kill and if you cannot kill it I can easily guess that you missed alot of things.But if you want to go ahead with the game,equip Guts ability and Auto Item ability and set Auto Item to Union Plume 100 %.Max out your Guts ability,you will survive 60-70 percent of the times.
