"Old-School goodness reborn on the PSP"

As the hosts of X-Play said, Capcom seems to be releasing as many Megaman games as possible and praying that one of them will be a success. This is that game. Megaman Maverick Hunter X is a remake of the classic platformer on the SNES, Megaman X...here's my review.

Story: Slightly altered from Megaman X in the fact that X starts as a Maverick Hunter, in the original he doesn't know Zero when he meets him after the intro level and decides to try and become a hunter. Other than that, same as the original, X and Zero try to stop the maverick named Sigma from wiping out mankind, same good story....back when this was an original game.
Story: 9/10

Graphics: Immense update from the old game's graphics. Beautiful backgrounds and character animations, fluid movements most of the time but there is some occasional lag (most notably at the end of Armored Armadillo's stage). Capcom made a good choice by going with the MMX8 style graphics. This game has some of the prettiest graphics on the PSP.
Graphics: 10/10

Sound: Fantastic. Capcom did an excellent job remixing ALL of the tracks (and making Zero's theme sound even more amazing). The voice-overs are well done (finally X doesn't sound like a girl) especially with the pre-boss fight conversations, and of course when X shouts "Hadoken!" when he uses the fireball :D. The music sounded great before, now its 10x better!!
Sound: 10/10

Gameplay: Same as the original, though capcom did change the locations of the armor upgrades, everything else remains intact alothough dash-jumping off a wall is a little more difficult. Some of the boss patterns have changed slightly and new attacks are introduced, Sigma's first form now shoots at you occasionally, and the final boss has a new attack. I advise everyone who trys to get the upgraed buster earlier: DON'T!! the one you get from Zero in sigma's palace (now Sigma stage 3 instead of stage 1) is MUCH better. Oh, and you can only get the fireball after you beat the game...AND you need to get to its original loctaion in Armadillo's stage WITHOUT TAKING A SINGLE HIT....yay for charged chameleon sting.
Gameplay: 9/10

Replayability/Extras: After you beat the game in "X mode", you unlock the anime movie "The Day of Sigma" which shows how Sigma betrayed the Maverick Hunters. You also unlock the brand new "Vile mode" where, as the title suggests, you play as X's rival, Vile. AND, after beating the game, you can revisit any stage and play it as though it hasn't been beaten. Each character also has a special "ability" they can use after you beat the game with their character, X can use the fireball, which now kills EVERYTHING (including the last boss) in 1 hit, Vile just has infinite weapon slots.
Replayability/Extras: 9/10

Overall: Megaman fans who have eagerly been waiting for a GREAT MM game have finally gotten what they wanted. Maverick Hunter is a fantastic game in every aspect and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Megaman Maverick Hunter X gets a 5........out of 5 (10/10)
