Frogger Helmet Chaos
Review by DragonX32
"Good game for young kids."
Frogger: Helmet Chaos is a 3D adventure featuring who else, but Frogger.... Unfortunately, this is not the Frogger we all know. It is a new Frogger, one that talks.
Gameplay
I don't really understand why this game is called Frogger. The gameplay is nothing like any previous good frogger games. You must hop your way through levels using things like your tongue and super jump. Using those you can move obstacles or jump over them and reach your way to the end, collecting coins and other items on your way.
The controls are pretty hard to use. You simply jump using the directional pad, but to turn you use the L and R buttons. You turn a lot, especially when you need to move something or super jump in the right direction. It gets very annoying. You can do a super jump in the air and use your tongue to grap onto things higher up, but I have died countless times letting go of the branch too soon.
The levels aren't very fun, and some are short. At times though, the game is very hard and you may die 10+ times in a row if your not paying full attention to what your doing. The puzzles are boring and long sometimes. There simply isn't much to this game. The voice acting is also VERY annoying.
Luckily, there are some bonus mini-games which can be fun. Too bad you have to unlock most of them. The first one that is there when you start is the original Frogger game from the arcade. You turn you psp sideways (d-pad on bottom) and play from the bottom to the top of the screen saving the 5 frogs. It is pretty fun for a while.
Story
A young boy named Frogger has an accident when he is a kid, and he is afraid of water (thus him dying when he falls into the water). One day his friend and him are fishing. He sees a fruit in a tree and goes to get it. While he is in the tree, someone mysterious (not really) character places a helmet on his head which makes him some type of slave I guess. Frogger goes off to find his friend and stop the bad guy.
Graphics/Sound
The graphics in this game are a plus, maybe one of the only pluses. The sound is nothing special, and as I said earlier, the voices get very annoying. There are no options to turn the voices off.
Replayability
There isn't much re-playability in this game.
Final Recomendation
There are only two reasons to buy this game. Either you have a young kid, or its <$10 and you are rich (perhaps you have a large collection).
I bought it because it was $10, which I regret.
