Crash Tag Team Racing
Review by Blue Man
"An evolved classic"
Crash is very popular children's game, now crash has made his first journey on the PSP. But is it really worth buying? Here you will find out.
This game is separated in to two parts, you have racing on the track and regular levels on land. The controls aren't the best. Most people would use the analog stick but the directional pad is easier to control in both racing and normal game play.
In normal game play you have many activities to play through. These challenges include chicken hunting, looking for crystals and plain old racing plus many more. You can also collect coins to buy special things such as costumes and extra cars.
In the races you can do multiple activities. These activities include classic racing to the finish, time trials, and shooting targets and many more. When you are racing you can use weapons to destroy other cars and overtake them. If you look hard enough you can also find minigames like bowling and shoot the ducks. There are so many different race tracks; you won't be bored for a minute.
They are slightly cartoon-like i.e. bright, colourful and unrealistic, however unlike most cartoon graphics, these graphics have small piece of realism. Therefore the graphics do not have the same graphics as any other games except spyro or another crash.
The graphics look great in the volcano locations, and more outer space locations. Also if you can get these on PS2, so they must be good on a PSP. When you shoot guns the graphics are beautiful how they display the fire.
I like the music during races it's fast and cheerful to suit the mood whilst you are speeding along. When you are in regular levels the music is still cheerful.
A good part is, each race track has a completely different tune. They vary upon the location.
The sounds of weapons being used is quite realistic, it does indeed sound like a homing missile for example is right behind you. The car sound is like the sound of a Ferrari ever so slightly. But the best sounds of all are the farting and burping sounds you can make whilst the game is loading, that part never gets old.
There are so many extra features to play through. One is connecting to your PS2 to get some extra things unlocked. You can play head to head wirelessly with up to four players. If you go on multiplayer player mode alone you can get coins to buy things to use in multiplayer mode. You can also replay any stage with a mode to do so you can pick a race to replay for fun.
Crash tag team racing does contain quite a lot of life span, there are many activities to do, and it will last you a few weeks. But the activities get very repetitive, once you have done something once, all you do is do it again somewhere else. It may take to longer due wanting to get off the game for a while. But this game will give you some enjoyment if you are out for a couple of days.
When you have got 100% though, you won't particularly want to finish it again, the reason being is crash tag team racing is mainly based on finding things, and if you know a location of something you do not usually forget it.
I personally enjoy Crash. The only one thing I forgot to mention was the loading time is long and slow, so you do need patience. It is indeed underrated, because there is some enjoyment to gain form this game and with the amount of activities you'll enjoy yourself incredibly. You should buy this because this is a great game. Even though it's aimed at children, a teenager would have good fun with crash.
