"Simply the best Syphon Filter to date!"

I may be a little late to make a review but oh well. I just wanna say what I think about this game. Well, after Omega Strain, I decided that I was done with the Syphon Filter series. The game was okay, but after Syphon Filter 2, it went all downhill. I never thought that I would find a game better than Syphon Filter 2.

Boy was I wrong on this one!

A few days before the 20 hour drive to Florida for vacation, I went to Target to get some stuff. And Dark Mirror caught my eye. I decided to buy it seeing as I didn't have very many PSP games to keep me occupied for 20 hours. Let me tell you something. this game was pretty much the ONLY game I played during the whole ride! There and back! A full 40 hours (give or take) of SF:DM and I still couldn't put the damn game down! I even got to play online and that blew me away even more!

Graphics - 9/10

Wow. Seriously, wow! These graphics are better than some PS2 games out there today! The cutscene movies are incredible. The movement is so smooth. And the gameplay graphics are just a little tiny bit pixelated from fairly close up, but its not a problem at all! Handheld games sure have come far!

Story 7/10

The story is cool, but a little random. Basically its the same premise of many games; the bad guy wants to do bad things that the good guys don't want. The problem I have with the story is that you don't find out what you were trying to prevent until AFTER the game. Oh well. It's not too bad of a story really.

Sound 10/10

Man. The music is just perfect for this game. When being silent, the music is very mellow. But when your in a gun fight, it kicks up a little. There is no music for online play though, but who cares. Also the voice overs are great. I was immensely impressed by them. The guns sound like guns and that's how it should be.

Singleplayer 10/10

Theres an easy mode, a normal mode, and a hard mode. The game play is intense. The gunfights are very nice. Not much to say here. The singleplayer is awesome.

Multiplayer (Online) 10/10

Holy freaking crap is the online play good. Well... where should I begin... There are four game modes (IIRC); Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Rogue Agent, and Objective. While I don't want to go into too much detail about them, here is a general idea. The Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch should be self-explanitory. Rogue agent is kind of like king of the hill. When your the king or rather, "Rogue Agent" you kill people to get points. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins. Objective only is for most of the level maps. Its pretty much just complete these objectives to win. Now, while playing online you can form Cells which are pretty much just clans of people. This is pretty cool. Choose a name, tag, patch, and if you want to, a message of the day for your cell chatroom. Now about mics, I strongly recommend you buy a mic and a remote if you are going to play online. It's not required, but it helps alot. Trust me. Anyways, the last thing I wanna say to you about online play is DO NOT USE GLITCHES TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! If you make it a habit no one will ever want to play with you. It also takes some of the fun away from the game you know? I just don't like cheating.

Overall: 10/10

I was amazed by the awesomeness of this game and I am sure you will be too.

Rent or Buy?

Normally I would say rent and see if you like the game, but not in this case. Especially with the online play.
