Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Review by Emperorwon
"Portable Iron Fist"
The Tekken series are super famous for its solid battles, top-notch graphics, and variety of combos for characters. From the arcades to home consoles, Tekken was always great no matter where or when it was played. Now lets see what happens if Namco puts the latest Tekken arcade game, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection into the Sony's PlayStation Portable.
Gameplay 8/10-
Tekken was always known for its great gameplay. With more than 50+ combos for each characters plus juggling, throwing, grappling, and all that, the only flaw was the difficulty pulling off those moves. New-comers of Tekken usually have no idea what they're doing when they first start playing. They usually button mash their way through or use some other cheap hits. Sure practice mode comes in handy to practice and memorize the combos but in the battlefield, you tend to forget some moves. But once you get the hang of it, you'll see the mighty awesomeness that is Tekken.
Graphics 10/10-
Of course like every Tekken games in their era, the graphics of Dark Resurrection are just plain awesome. You'll be amazed how strong the PSP is just looking at the game's graphics. It almost looks the same as PlayStation 2's Tekken 5. Of course there are some rough edges along the stages and some characters formed to fit the PSP. But overall the graphics are just wicked awesome.
Replay Value 9/10-
This game has a ton of replay value. All the 30+ characters have their own story, so story mode will be accessed numerous times. Plus earning money to buy outfits and accessories for your characters just keeps the game going. The new Tekken Dojo mode tests your skills as you climb the ranks and fight to victory while the mini-game Tekken Bowling tests your mind to find the character that matches your bowling styles. Also making a ghost to beat up other players for you is just wicked in a lazy way. Overall, the replay value is solid in this game.
Overall 9/10
After more than 10 years, the Tekken continually seems to shine. And even brighter in Tekken: Dark Resurrection. If you like fighting games, especially a one with great gameplay, over-the-top graphics, and solid replay value, don't miss your chance on this 100% pure awesomeness that is Tekken: Dark Resurrection.
