The Lord of the Rings: Tactics

"Lord of the Rings: Tactics = Best RPG on the PSP"

Lord of the Rings games have been pretty hot, but there was never a decent portable Lord of the Rings game. But don't worry because this portable LOTR game is one great RPG. I think we better look at the different goods and downs of LOTR: Tactics seperatley.

The gameplay is fun and addictive in this game, and it works simply. The game sets out different battlefields to fight on with different enemies. The battle is fought with 2 phases- the movement phase and the battle phase. In the movement phase you can move your characters around the battlefield to where you like, and there's plenty of environment and different objects to move on. Strategy applies when you move , since the place you move to determines if you can attack your enemy in the battle phase or not, and whether the attack will be accurate or not.

The battle phase is where you choose your attack, and then blast it onto your enemies. You can perform attacks from long or short range for almost every character, and also perform unique skills. After the battle phase is fought, you repeat the process until your objective is complete. The objectives in the game are all interesting, from making you escape the pits of Moria to fighting off the trolls. There are enough variety of enemies to satisfy any gamer, and they all fair well with the game.

You won't expect to blow through the game fast, since it's long and challenging complete with 2 different campaigns- a good and evil one. One lets you control the good characters, like Aragorn and Frodo, and the other lets you control the evil characters that range from the Sauron to Saruman. There's also a multiplayer that you can try with your friends, so expect enough value in this game.

Gameplay: 9/10

The graphics in this game is pretty good. Every character is made well and complete, up to the smallest detail. But there are a few flaws like the occasional object glitch where an object blocks your view. The special effects are stunning though, and is enough to make up for the sometimes bad-camera.
No slow downs are great too.

The sound is defitnitaley where the game shines, and it's perfect. All the characters are voiced by the original actors from the movie, even for all the enemies. The special effects are always toned right and never disappoint.

Sound: 10/10

There's not alot to say about it's controls because it's an RPG game. But the thing is the controls are set out nicely so there's nothing to worry about. The only problem is the camera view at times.

Controls: 9/10

Buy or Rent?: Buy!! This is a great game, so if you own a PSP you gotta get this. This is the best RPG game on the PSP.

Overall, this is a perfect game for RPG and Lord of the Rings fans, so PSP owners will do well to give it a try.
