"The Reason Why I Bought My PSP"

Overall, I rate this game a 7 out of 10. Here's why:

GAMEPLAY 7/10
There is a handful of things that could be improved, but otherwise it is a great game, especially with friends. The controls are very simple and the quests aren't too complicated. The only big disappointments is that there is STILL no in-game headset communication for this game and that all of the moves for characters are very robotic and could be more agile.

PLOT 2/10
Basically, you're a wanna-be hunter who wants to be the next "Hero of Kokoto." Why? Who knows...

SOUND 6/10
The sound quality was better in the original Monster Hunter, but still quite impressive.

GRAPHICS 5/10
The ground you can touch is great, the characters and enemies look very realistic, but what people don't realize is that the sky and the land you can't reach is just a 360 degree two dimensional picture. Could've been better.

BLOOD/GORE 8/10
Some people complain that the blood/gore sucks and isn't realistic, but come on guys, the game is rated T FOR TEEN, not M for Mature. Any more blood/gore and the game would have to be re-rated, and the difference in sales between a rated Teen game and rated M game are considerably different.

TRANSITION 4/10
Personally, this game feels more like an expansion for the first Monster Hunter game, rather than a sequel. A lot of details were changed/added to be more user-friendly, but there isn't a real "umph" behind it. Also, there is really only one "new" wyvern, Yian Garuga; the other ones are just colored differently and are faster/stronger.

POPULARITY 5/10
The Message Board is packed, but this definitely isn't an MMO in-game. (Massively Multiplayer Online Game).

ONLINE PLAY 3/10
The is only Ad-Hoc mode for this, so unless you get "tunneling software" like Xlink Kai Evolution VII, you won't be able to play with anyone outside a 15 ft. radius of you. There are no more event sales and quests either. What's worse is now you have to go back to the village to save/buy specific stuff/put items away, adn then re-log yourself back in to continue playing online.

FEATURES/ITEMS 10/10
There is an amazingly high amount of items, armor, and weapons in this game. You could spend a good chunk of your life getting every single thing in this game.

OVERALL 7/10
As you can see, Capcom and the games Co-Creators spend most of their time on the DETAILS of this game, rather than the big picture. However, many of the game's aspects are a force to be reckoned with. They also made this game very appealing to teenagers, rather than just young adults.
