Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Review by YamiTyger
"LSWII A must have for any die hard SWs fan."
The fun of Lego's combined with the excitement of all three classic Star wars games! This handheld is sure to be enjoyed by old andyoung alike......or if you have never seen any of the original 3, but played LSWI.
Video Quality: 10/10
The images are crisp and sharp, almost makes you forget you're playing a game, and instead watching a CGI Movie that was made with Legos. Everything from the inside of the Jawa's Sandcrawler, and the battle on the planet Hoth, were expertly rendered. What I especially enjoyed was after throwing, then kicking, the detonator into the AT-AT, and falling into the snow and seeing white little square pieces puff up, was nicely done.
Audio Quality: 10/10
The sound quality with this game, whether with headphones on or not, is just breathtaking. It's almost as if the original live orchastration was playing in your ears, as well as every sound of blaster fire, combined with the hum and clash of the lightsabers.
Gameplay: 9/10
This is one of the parts that gets a lower rating, merely because of a few points. The gameflow is nice, and whatnot, but I remember fomr the SNES title, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, that when the Millenium Falcon was flying through the asteroid field, it ducked into an asteroid that was actually the rectum for a space going creature. Now, I would have liked to see thise scene played out in Legos, with the teeth menacingly closing down, and the 'Falcon flying out, clipping a tooth and you see a shower of bricks following you. This is the only thing I did not see, that I would have enjoyed.
Controls: 8/10
Another problem with the game.......and as far as I can tell, it's only one major issue with myself. When you're playing a Jedi Chara, double jumping was easier to do then with a non Force using Chara. I can't begin to count the number of times I tried to double jump with Luke going through the Jundaa wastes, and losing about 2-3,000 studs every time I tried double jumping, yet ol' Ben was pulling them off with ease. I don't know if its the PSP that I have, or if the gamne itself was designed to make double jumping harder for non Force Chara's.
Other then then, the controls are fine, especially piloting the Snowspeeder and 'Falcon.
Overall Review: 9/10
A must have, if you're thinking about looking for a whimsical take on a classiczl movie series, then pick this up. If you're just looking for something to while away a few hours with, then rent it. But, if you like it after you try it, then by all means buy it.
