Gitaroo Man Lives!
Review by Petesl
"Major disapointment :("
Having played other games in the series I was excited about trying this one out. Unfortunately it was not what I expected at all :(
Story:
You play as this extremely wimpy kid. Your dog teaches you how to play the Gitaroo. You get attacked by a bunch of different Gitaroo wielding monsters. Eventually you have to go to some planet and "save the world". The typical lame "save the world" concept and a generally very shallow story line.
2/10
Graphics:
The character graphics look decent, but graphics alone a game does not make. The scenes are also rather generic and laking in detail. Expect to be floating in guitar space quite often.
7/10
Gameplay:
Its just like previous version, except instead of a PS2 control your stuck with the PSP. Which sadly fails miserably as a control for this sort of fast pace button pushing. Unless you are under the age of 10, your going to find the insides of your palms hurting really quickly. Can you say carpal tunnel :( Plus with all the frantic button pushing you'll likely get sweaty hands. The PS2 controller has a better design, so you can still hold on ok. With the PSP, you be playing juggle more often then Gitaroo.
2/10
Music & Sounds:
The songs are pretty average. It really depends what sort of music you like to listen to. I personally didn't like their the choice of music. Unfortunately, the voice acting is incredibly irritating and really distracts from the game.
2/10
Overall:
Story - 2/10
Graphics - 7/10
Gameplay - 2/10
Music & Sounds - 2/10
Final =3=
It might be a novel pick up for those who are old fans. I would recommend it as a present for a small child to play, except its really probably to hard for kids under the age of 10, while too painful an experience for kids over the age of 10. Its definitely a no go for older players as you will find the experience of actually trying to use the controls to be so frustrating that you can't even begin to try out the game itself.
