Monster Hunter Freedom
Review by chuahaha
"It's the bomb graphic wise, gameplay wise, well...."
This review is dedicated to my two friends, Joshua (Josh) Lawrence and Benjamin (Ben) Sandberg. They were great friends, aided each other when they were bullied. Unfortuneately, one day, they were driving around, and they got into an unfortuneate car accident. Josh's favorite song was "2 miles an hour" by Ludacris and Ben's favorite song was "oops, I did it again" by Brittany Spears. May they Rest In Peace.
Anyway, on to the review.
Gameplay: 9/10
The gameplay in this game was amazing. You can be a boy or a girl and you can customize your character to the max. There are many different weapons which you must earn. The clothes you can wear also affect your defense and how well you are protected. The camera was horrible though. Having to adjust the camera in the middle of a fight with a dragon isn't exactly pleasant to say the least.
Story: 6/10
Well, there really wasn't a story in this game. You're basicly just a hunter who goes and kills monsters to help your town. This was kind of like Coded Arms where you are just put into the action without a real story.
Sound: 9/10
I have to say, the sound was amazing. You can hear the outstanding effects on the first quest when you go outside of the cave. Very high quality sound, can't be beat.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics were amazing. This game has one of the best graphics, if not the best. Every dragon or creature has so much detail, it's almost as if it were real. Sometimes, when you move really close into an object or wall, it gets a bit blurry though which is why I took off a point.
Controls: 8/10
While the controls were pretty good, it was annoying to move around sometimes with the analog stick. However, this isn't really the games fault, it's more like sony's fault.
Replayability: 10/10
The replayability is great on this game. It would take over 220 hours to fully complete this game, in my honest opinion. The quests can be hard, so you often replay them several times before passing them and you don't have to do the quests in a particular order like you do in some games which I like, because if you're stuck on a quest, you have the freedom to move on to another quest to boost your confidence if you pass. Also, there are guild quests in addition to the normal quests so it would take a while to finish. There are also many different weapons that require different materials to build which can be time consuming. The replayability of this game is unbeatable.
Multiplayer: 9/10
I love the multiplayer in this game. You can do quests with friends and it's just a very enjoyable experience. But, it does not have infrastructure which is a big set-back. While there is a work around by using x-link kai or another similar program, it is such a hassle and many can't get it to work. So, what was a big set-back in this game was its inability to play others via infrastructure.
Overall: This game is a game that I recommend to get only if you don't mind it being difficult at times and you are ready for a challenge. If you are lazy and you don't like games that take a long time to complete, I recommend that you rent this game and see if you like it.
Overall, I give this game a 8.5/10 (rounds up to a 9)
