Armored Core: Formula Front

Review by inuyashafanboy1

"A letdown...with perks."

This game is a letdown, but only in certain aspects. There are many good things in this game, and they're used to their fullest potential, but there's also the hinderances which weigh this down pretty damn bad.

Upon first glance of this game, I second guessed whether or not I should purchase this. I instantly questioned the idea of just arena battles was a good one. I mean, mission play kicks ass, why should we just fight other A.I.? Which made me wonder why there was no online play? The japanese have had online play since AC:3, yet we still don't have it.

Graphics: 10/10

The graphics are stunning. The detail is astounding, and the subtle details like the emblem are quite fascinating due to the limitations of the platform. The cores are all unique, and the only beef I have is the lack of paint patterns (camouflauge gets old).

Gameplay: 6/10

The fighting is okay, but it seems like the computer gets way too many boosts in performance, regardless of letter grade. Not to mention the sluggish controls, and the impertinent camera which hates your guts.

Sound: 3/10

I don't usually play with sound, but it would have helped if there was some f-ing good music in these games. All the music sucks, and the announcers aren't too hot either.

Multiplayer: 4/10

This game seriously needed online play. Since all you get are arena battles, they should have given more than just Ad-Hoc mode. I want to play people in japan with nothing better to do than play this game!!!

Overall: 7/10

Good attempt, for a first time, but could use some improvement.

Pros:
*Excellent graphics
*Decent controls (with lack of buttons accounted)

Cons:
*Horrid multiplayer
*Unbalanced core design

If you absolutely have to play mech battles on the go, buy this. But, don't buy new. It's not worth the new price. You can find this bad boy used for about $18. It's only worth about that much anyway.
