Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony
Review by Geohound_Ryudo
"What agony? This is quite enjoyable."
I've never even touched the PC versions of the Dungeon Siege series, so don't expect me to notice any connections. Because my PC only has the graphical power to handle solitaire.
Graphics 10/10
This is certainly ne of the best looking PSP games out there. Environments are the standard RPG types. OHHH! A forest full of monsters! Time to enter it! OHH! A cave now! YAY! The character models are truly gorgeous. Each armor looks different depending on which of the three main characters wear them. The enemies look fabulous, but still suffer from the "let's change its color and make it a new enemy" attitude most of the dungeon crawlers that I play seem to decide on.
Audio 6/10
A beautiful feast of slicing and dicing and magic blasts and arrows flying. The sounds fit. Plain and simple. The music, well I never really noticed. That's a bad thing.
The All Important Gameplay 10/10
You only have three characters. Each has one of two allies available at the beginning. You have the bow woman, the hack and slashing warrior, the multi elemental mage. The characters have the ability to change classes at certain levels. Each has a choice of two the first time, and two more for each of those. That is four paths with each character. You level and gain stat points and skill points in the predictable fashion. Your allies level just like you. The only difference is that you have to spend gold to use their skill points. Which is just really annoying. You get the enchanted weapons and equipment as you hack your way through dungeon after dungeon. Its quite fun, believe it or not.
Story 3/10
Seriously. Maybe I should play the PC games or something. Each character has some unique pieces of story. But it really doesn't matter.
Some Minor Complaints
-some bugs here and there
-long load times
-your inventory feels small...and the equipped stuff still counts towards your weight
-paying to allocate skill points?!
Rent or Buy.
Buy. When the last time you beat an RPG in a rental?
Final Grade 9/10
Loading is really the only thing holding it back.
