"Tales, another dungeon grinder...but good"

This is typical Dungeon crawler grinder games that the PSP has quite a few of. But unlike the other Tales games that were old-school traditional RPG fare....this is a more action oriented game

To anyone who hasn't played this game yet.....it is very similar to Monster Hunter Freedom and Vahalla Knights

Review:

Graphics:

Some of the best graphics on the PSP. Characters have a nice set of polys and lush animations. Each character has a set anime style clips that are used during speaking scenarios. The town and dungeons look very well...although most of dungeons are very similar in appearance from their core level to the next levels.

Gamplay:

The gameplay is very varied yet repetitive. Like most other dungeon grinder games, you create a character from various pre-set options and go from there. You will be tasked by taking various quests from gathering items, killing a set amount of enemies, rescue missions, recon, and so on. These tasks are somewhat like MHF if you have played it. Though the combat system is this game is all real time compared to your typical RPG, making this a rue dungeon crawler. The action is very good and you can acquire new skills and attacks as you level up through the game.

Story:

Not much of one here. This is a game mre of cameos and character interactions than a major plot. This is where being a fan of previous Tales games come into play. Other than that, you start as a custom character who is born from a magical tree with no memory who need to find and defeat the mighty Devourer. That is as far as plot line you will get.

Sound:

A good soundtrack, good voice acting and battle sound effects are nothing really new...but still good, nice sound quality fir a PSP game, seeing as how some have had bad sound and volume regulation.

Replay value:

This game has 300+ missions and other things to be done, such as leveling u and item forging. This game will last awhile if you wish to do the entire game...it does get repetitive, but then again what game doesn't.

Overall:

This is a game worth every penny and will last awhile. It is similar to the other games of this formula but Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology uses a few new mechanics to this overall shallow genre and creates a game that is very well worth the time and stands out among the rest. This Tales game is truly a radiant game.

Pick it up as soon as you can, this is a good game for any RPG, Tale, MHF fan ou there.
