Driver '76

Review by joeyissoweird

"Superior to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in Every Way"

While I'm almost falling asleep after staying up for almost thirty hours, I'm still going to review this. I warn you that I'm very tired. This game is an almost perfect game. Driver '76 is your typical gangster crime games. This will have some great competition against Grand Theft Auto for the Playstation Portable, and I demand a sequel! What this game does is bring that whole genre of crime in New York driving, hit and run games and they turn it into the late seventies with stunning graphics for the Playstation Portable. This was my summary.

The plot is that you just found the girl of your dreams who will change your life forever. She is the daughter of the biggest triad boss in New York City. You have to win her over because her father chooses her guys. Make him happy, and you're in. I think the plot is a pretty decent plot.

The graphics are great for a Playstation Portable game. For the rest of this review, I'll call it PSP like normals. There's nothing that special about the graphics. The cutscenes are great and all. I do tell you that this beats Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for the PSP in graphics alot. I'm surprised they aren't made by the same game developer. You really feel like you're running away from the NYC police.

The sound is great. Great voice actors, well, not really. The man who plays.. I believe his name is Slinky, the guy with the afro, doesn't really do a good job at telling the story. Ruins the whole "mission" and cutscenes everytime he talks. I really do not like it. Everything else is great. I really love the cops talking on their Police scanners and the sirens, and people talking, it's just really great and makes the mood great.

The gameplay is simple. Wow, I've been saying that alot in reviews. Well, you follow the missions, look at the map, and drive to your destination. The game has a very big world in there that you just want to explore. You'll want to ignore the missions and hijack a huge bus and run people over. It's fun. But the missions are also fun, too. I suggest you to do missions to get the story well.

To compare the gameplay with Grand Theft Auto games for the PSP, I think this has the best. You get your HP shown, how fast you are going, and the map is better. Or what we now say, the radar since people refer to the map as the enviroment and the cities these days. I think they really did a great job for this. I'm wondering to see what Driver: Parallel Lines is all about.

Overall, Buy or Rent? Buy, totally. Very addicting. You'll want to play all the time, in the car, in the shower, in your bedroom. Well, not in the shower, but a lot of places!
