"good for hardcore gamers"

I myself, enjoyed the game to an extent. You would like the game if you were really, really into getting specific. I found most of the skills and resistances mostly pointless. There is a lot to keep track of. It's probably the world's most complicated "hunting" game.

There is absolutely no way to make your character stronger or faster or just have better overall "skills". You rely solely on your gaming ability, which MUST improve significantly from hunt to hunt, and your armor and weapons. I found this very different. Different in a bad way. I'm the kind of gamer who likes to use skill or stat points to make my character awesome with or without the crazy awesome armor.

Aside from the complications, It is a very hard game. You literally have to know your environment like the back of your hand. You can never tell when a monster is about to die except for the fact that it bleeds and limps away.

We all know the best way to beat a boss is with a great weapon and some great armor. Monster Hunter doesn't give you that option. The only way to get the great weapons or armor is to kill the boss and use its hide and claws and other things to make weapons.

The "scared" feature was very aggravating to me. This was in the original Monster Hunter Freedom, but I found it was unnecessary unless you like being that far in the game.

Although I found this game to be frustrating and difficult, this game has some major things I like about it. You can upgrade your equipment and get really into it. Farming at your farm was really fun. I also liked going into the mountains with my great weapons and armor and just destroying the things that were previously difficult to me.

The graphics are very good for the PSP and it makes you feel like you're watching a movie with lush scenery rather than playing a game.

There is a wide variety of items and other things you can farm. Once you sell them, you get money, new armor (possibly) and points for your farm.

Also the feline kitchen is very unique and well done. Hiring a bunch of cats to make me food is a great thing to add to the game. Different foods give you different power-ups among other things, to help you with your hunts.

I think the good outweighs the bad. Incredibly fun game, but a bit frustrating. If you're really good at real time role playing games I would say this game is a must.
