The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch
Review by Gnrl_Seanrogie
"This game is by far, one of the best RPGs I have ever played."
"Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch" is a great game. Let me just start off by saying that. I do not have the first game, so I cannot compare the two. However, I do recommend this game to anyone who enjoys RPGs.
Gameplay - The gameplay in LoH2 is very basic. You walk around the frames, while enemy's move as well. This game has a Final Fantasy form of combat, with a legend of Zelda appearance. The gameplay is fine, it's nothing special, but there are no flaws that I noticed. You also get a pet, to feed, take care of, it can even fight. I would give the Gameplay an 8/10. Nothing special, but good.
Story - The story in LoH2 is probably the reason which makes me love this game. I have played many RPGs, but this story really stood out. The back story is about a girl who traveled around Tirasweel, getting visions of the future. When she predicted good things, she was loved by the people. When she predicted bad things, they blamed her when the time game. She is given the name "The Moonlight Witch", based on her predictions and silver hair.
You play as two young kids who are on a pilgrimage for their village, Jurio and Chris. Over time they have many adventures, which will keep the player hooked. They also learn about the Moonlight witch across their journey, which plays strong part in the story line, as one could probably tell based off of the game's title.
This story is amazing, and I really don't wish to spoil it. So I will leave off with the story there. 10/10, simply amazing.
Graphics- The PSP is known for its graphics, which are far better than that of the Nintendo DS. The thing is, with RPGs, graphics don't play a major role at all. However, they do help make the game look nicer. The Graphics are slightly 3D, I will give them an 8. Not great, but not really important.
Sound - The sound is nothing major in this game. A few nice happy little melodies, but they fit into the game really well. The music truly makes the game more enjoyable. I'll give sound a 9/10. I would hate playing this game on mute.
Play Time/Replayability - Let me say this quickly, this game will take a long time. Experienced role players could probably beat the game in about 30 hours. I would say the normal gamer would take 35 hours to beat this game. The replay was not that special in my opinion. The most powerful element was the story, and when you know it already, it seems a bit dull.
Final Recommendation - Overall I give this game a 9/10. Great Game, Buy it. If you don't have the money, borrow it from a friend, or rent it. Great Game, people who enjoy RPGs will not want to miss this one.
