"Viva la Resistance!"

Resistance Retribution is a PSP game made by Bend Studios. It takes place after Resistance Fall of Man and takes place in Europe. Player are going to play not as Nathan Hale but instead a new protagonist, James Grayson, who is let's just say really cool.

Story: 10/10
The story of the resistance series is as follows, the Chimera have invaded the world and have destroyed most of humanity. Following the events of Resistance Fall of Man, where London is liberated from Chimeran control, the European resistance tries to free Paris. James Grayson, a british marine was forced to kill his own infected brother and goes on a rampage, destroying many chimera conversions. He is court-marshalled and sent to death row when he is saved by the marquis who require is skills...

The story is absolutely fantastic as it continues to depict humanity's desperate struggle for survival. I found it to be reinvigorating and way better than the story in Resistance 2. So anyone who found Resistance 2 disappointing should find solace in Resistance Retribution.

Gameplay: 9/10
Now people might freak out because the PSP does not have two analog sticks, thus making it weird to play a first person shooter. However, Bend studios, which had made the Syphon Filter games on the PSP, have crafted a well balanced control scheme. the triangle, square, circle, and x buttons are used to moved the camera while the analog stick controls James's movement. The left d pad is used to switch weapons and players can also press the right d pad and r button to use a quick weapon selection. R button is used to shoot while the L button is used for secondary fire. All in all the controls can take a while to get used to but work very effectively.

The guns used in Resistance Fall of Man return in Retribution. There's the auger, and many other weapons that are renamed. On a side note, players canswitch control schemes, as there is an alternate scheme where the triangle, square, circle, and x buttons are used to move while the analog is used to aim. Some people say that is more accurate however I found it frustrating to use. I also higly recommend adjusting the speed at which you can move the camera as it helps with shooting opponents.

Sound: 10/10
Resistance Retribution is just fantastic. The sound is loud and clear. The voices all sound perfect. James sounds like a cool wise cracking Britain. The guns actually sound like guns. Nt once did I want to turn off the sound. I also would like to mention that Parker and Cartwright return, so for those who missed them in Resistance 2, enjoy.

Graphics: 10/10
Resistance Retribution looks almost like Resistance Fall of Man. If you thought you've seen what the PSP can produce, you'll be amazed at Retribution. The environments look great. The snow, the water, everything looked wonderful.

Final Words:
Resistance Retribution is for anyone who wants a great shooter that has a great story, sound, and replay value all in one. While I did not play online, there is online play. I hear there are only 5 maps which is a bummer, however that should not deter anyone from buying this game. If you're a Resistance fan, you owe it to yourself to pick up this game.
