"PSP's Dynasty warriors live up to its originals."

Dynasty warriors come to PSP! Dynasty warriors is a hack n slash game with strategy elements in it. If you're new to dynasty warriors then you should

Graphics 10/10

Anyways this totally blew away what I thought it would be. The graphics are incredible for a hand held and I see barely any difference than the PS2 Versions. Sure I might look at the ground in this game then compare to PS2, but do you really stare at the ground when you are blasting away enemies left and right with massive combos? No, I didn't think so.

Game play 10/10

This game is a great hand held game. It plays just like any other dynasty warriors game, you pick and officer and level him up and fight for your kingdom. You're an unstoppable general, slaying thousands of soldiers left and right! A true warrior game!

The game has a lot of new elements. Instead of playing Yellow Turban and just have a gigantic level like in DW3 and DW4 you play it more as a strategic and campaign like mission. You move your unit (you and your officers) to different squares across the map. Each mission has a different amount of squares. An example is your objective is to destroy the main base camp, but you must fight through outposts and garrisons to get there. (Squares) Each outpost, battlefield, or garrison has a certain number of generals, troops and officers. You basically face on generals, officers or captains in each square, the battle in each square can last from 3 minutes to 15 minutes depending on who you're fighting! Its difficult to explain it in depth properly but this is definitely a major new and excellent element to the game.

In this game you have no body guards, instead you have officers who become stronger as you do. These officers can perform duties you tell them to do and you can also call them to your side if you're in trouble, but be warned! If you need one of your officers to help take down Lu Bu you might want to call him before fighting Lu Bu for it takes a bit for him to reach you depending on how far away he is.

As you gain experience, kill counts, and you complete feats such as taking down opposing generals your officers will gain respect for you and you'll see a little + sign then whichever officer gains more respect for you will say something like "Our general rocks!" or something a long the lines of a compliment.

The game play in itself is great, I'm enjoying it just as much if not more than the other DW. The game play is smooth, flows like water, and the controls are great.

Sound 9/10

The sound is great for the PSP, best I've heard on it so far. Unfortunately there are no new tracks, but they did remix some of the old ones to a better more flowing beat. The music and sound effects are sharp and to the point. They even have small voice recordings for when you do a Musou attack. Most of the tracks are of electric guitar and even though I'm not a huge fan of the type of music, it strangely fits in! Who would have know that rock would fit so well in ancient china?

Controls 9/10

The controls are great, the games default settings are nice and user friendly and fairly simple to understand. I personally changed the R button to parry because I felt that reaching up to hit the L button gave an awkward feeling while moving around with the analog, just a personal preference.

Re-playability 10/10!

This games biggest strength is the Re-playability! You can choose tons of generals to pick, each with their own UNIQUE move set and weapons, don't forget they all look completely different. You could master sword users but be totally clueless on how to effectively use blunt weapons and so forth, which in turn leads to tons of learning and fun in expanding your skill and talent.

Overall I'd definitely give this a 10/10! Sony sure knew what they were doing by releasing this on PSP launch!
