Metal Gear Acid
Review by soulpossumm
"Just plain awesome."
Intro:
The first game that I get for the PSP is this. Hearing good reviews, I thought I would try it. I pop it in and I couldn't stop. It was so addicting that I had to play through it 2 times just to get enough for the week. I though that this series would of been ruined by this game, but that was far from the truth.
Music/Sound effects: 10/10
This, on the PSP, sounds great! I never thought that a game on a portable system could sound so good! There are not any voice-overs in the game, but there is not a whole lot to read. The sounds of the guns shooting off are really cool, and sound like real guns. The soundtrack is perfect, which you could expect in a Metal Gear game. The music never got boring, so I'm giving it a ten.
Gameplay/Fun factor: 9/10
The game's fun factor is extremely high, and the only reason that I didn't give it a ten was because of the M rating. I thought that this game was incredibly violent, and it is definitely not for kids! The new thing that they put in this game was a card battling system. This is an extremely sharp turn from the Playstation 2's games. You have to do everything with a card. You can't even move without a card. This sometimes makes the game a little tedious, but you get over it after a while. There are different kinds of cards that you get during the game, and at each intermission you get to customize your deck so that you can decide on how you want to play the next level, which I thought was cool. As you go through the game you get better cards, and you might even see some characters on the cards from other MGS games. This game was very fun.
Price: n/a
This game costs about 40 bucks at any old game store, but if you hunt on the Internet or at a used game store you might be able to get it for a little less, but I wouldn't count on it since this is such a new game.
Story: 10/10
Like all other Metal Gear games this one has a great story. There are a couple main characters including:Snake(of course),Roger(his professional help through the game),a physic, and Leone(the bad guy). The story takes place during Snake's "retirement". Two dolls(being controlled by someone?)hijack a plane and Snake has the job of getting the plane down safely. The whole game is action packed, and never stops with the excitement. Perfect ten.
Graphics: 10/10
For a portable system, this game is the best I've ever seen. This looks like a late Playstation game. The graphics are very clean and very dark. Sometimes this may become a problem, because if you are not in a dark place then you won't be able to see very well. It won't bother you too much though.
Replayability: 8/10
The only real reason to play this again is to collect all of different card that you didn't get the first time. The game is still pretty fun, but the story is a big part of it and you will already know the story. I'd say replaying it once more is just as fun.
Overall: n/a
Overall this game was almost perfect, with a little bit of mistakes. If you have a chance to rent or buy, I would definitely say buy.
