Coded Arms
Review by chippychip
"If you want a straight-forward FPS this is for you..."
Let me first start my review with saying that, one, you may hear a lot of complaints about the controls, that is all crap. The controls are fully customizable to fit your likings, so don't let that change your decision on getting this game. Two, you should know that there is a little storyline, a very little and short one, with no ending.
Graphics-8
Everything you would expect from the PSP, the graphics seem as if they were from a console, and not a hand held. This is an FPS (First Person Shooter) which means the screen looks kinda like Halo, where all you see is the first person view and your hand holding a weapon in front of you. The reason I gave the graphics an 8 was because some of the objects are a little boxy.
Controls-9
As I said, the controls are very easy to master, especially because you can change just about everything. The only set back here is that the PSP only has one joy stick, so you have to analyze that fact.
Game play-8
First let me start with replayability. Most people wouldn't need to replay the levels over again, unless they missed a certain weapon, grenade, or armor. The storyline is that there is a super virtual reality training program abandoned by the military that hackers try to gain access to and enter it. They try to beat it for cash rewards and such. And you are one of those, "Coded Ones" as they call them. The story has a twist at the end where, well, I don't want to give away too much but something happens and you stay in the game forever, and ever, and ever, and ever. LITERALLY. Oh yeah, and one last thing, unfortunately there are no cutscenes, except before bosses but that is for like 4-5 seconds.
Sound-9
I would give the sound section a 9 due to its intense sound effects emitted by the weapons, let me simply put this...the sound you hear from the weapons are excellent. The music changes as you are in different situations, when no enemies are around, it is silent, then when you walk into a room with enemy presence, the music fires up. That is how i tell if a room has any enemies left in it ^_^. I wished there were voice acting in it aside from the enemies you encounter, but unfortunately you never get to hear anything other than grunting sounds.
Extras-7
There are really no extra features, there is single player, and then there is multiplayer. Multiplayer in this game is very fun, I play with my friends all the time. Of course, I always win because he just got his game and i had it for a while now and i have all the weapons.
Coded Arms receives an 8 out of 10 simply because it is a solid FPS. If you like FPS's, then I suggest you buy this game. Multiplayer is VERY fun. But if you just want to play this game to enjoy for a while, then rent it. I'm sorry about the long review lol.
