"The Internet is Out of Controll"
Coded Arms
This is the first FPS on the PSP but I think Konami pulled it off quite well. This is (besides Luminus) the best time chewer on the system because of its infinity mode that by its name is infinite. It is my personal goal to find out if it actually ends. But eneough about me, on to the review.
STORY: 6/10
The story goes like this. It's the 2150's and technological advancments have allowed for humans to directly connect to the internet using their brains. The military at the same is having a secret war with an alien race and needs soldiers. So they make a training program that uses that cybernetic, connective crap. It's called the A.I.D.A. I don't know what it means, and they never tell you. The AIDA had one fatal flaw in it that made the military abandon it in the beta testing phase. But instead of disapearing , it started spreading into the networks on Earth. Then hackers started finding it, and they all had to bet their personalities with no backups in order to enter the AIDA. The police stepped in and tried to destroy it but it had already moved into every single concievable part of Earth's networks, making it imposible to destroy. So they Quarentined it making it punishable by law to enter it. But hackers continued to enter it anyway, and were highly respected in the hacker comunity. They were reffered to as "The Coded Ones." They went in to try to get all the rare and valuable files in the system to get rich off the new black market that Coded hackers made. And that is it for the story because Konami never goes back to it for the rest of the game.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
If Half-Life 2 was ported to the PSP then this is what it would look like. The Enemy models are spectacular ranging from flying bugs to 7 ft. tall robot chickens that have huge guns. The light and shadow efects are very well done, and these are the best visuals I've seen on the PSP yet,
AUDIO: 7.5/10
The audio (unlike the graphics) are nothing to write home about, but they are pretty decent. You can tell the difference between an assault rifle firing and a Photon Mg. The enemies make audible noises and the soundtrack isn't half bad either. With futturstic teechno following you through the entire game It is deserving of its score.
GAMEPLAY: 8/10
The gameplay has a few flaws in it. First, the A.I is some of the worst I've seen. They see you and start shooting with whatever the RLG (Random Level Generator) gave them. They could be 30 feet away shoothin with a flamethrower that can only can reach 10 feet. Second, If there are more than 15 enemies on screen at once then the framerate chugs. Now this has only happened to me twice and I'm on Lv. thirteen in infinity mode. Third, The game will never end. That's right I said it'll NEVER END in infinity mode. Now for some Posotives. The game is divided into Sectors, Areas, and Levels. The sectors tell you how far you are in the game, the areas are either City, Base, Or Ruins in sectors 01-02. Sector 00 is training, and sector 03 is infinity. Then the Areas are divided into levels with a gate at the end, and sometimes gatekeepers that you have to kill in order to unlock it. Then a terminal gat at the end of an area. Good gameplay that will never stop, makes this a good game.
OVERVIEW:
+/- Infinite amount of levels
+ Kickass graphics
+ half decent multiplayer
+ Random Level Generator
- no infrastructure mode
- Bad A.I.
- Controlls are hard to get used to
FINAL:9/10
If you want to chew up a bunch of time then get this game, but if your tight on money then wait for the price to drop.
