"Fifa 06 for the PSP...Hand Cramp Galore!!"

Fifa 06 for the PSP, Could have been great, Should have been great, but it just lets you down from the moment you start playing.

The game modes include season, tournament and juggling along with your usual "play now" friendly mode.

This seems great until you play one of them.

Take season mode. Lets say your playing the FA Premier League. There are no cup games or champion's league games within the season at all! nor can you get relegated or promoted leaving season mode feeling rather unrewarding.

Tournament mode allows you to select a few trophies from each of the footballing associations and play in its tournament. Pretty straight forward but...no champions league and no international cups...so for any Irish fans trying to live the fantasy of Brian Kerr and the boys playing in germany you'll have to look elsewhere.

Juggling is....well its keepy-uppy using Dance Dance Revolution type controls...hit the D-pad in the direction shown when the ball hits the target. The further you get the more points you earn to spend in the EA store...dont get excited...the store mainly consists of last years away strips and different match balls.

The control system is pretty good except the design of the PSP means trying to sprint toward an attacker (holding R + the nub) and calling a second defender (holding L) means your hands feel pretty sore after more than 2 matches. But hey...we could blame sony rather than EA for that one.

The sound and visuals are good...fluid with only a little slow down when taking a free kick around the penalty box. But on a few scenes when the ref is about to book someone, players have a tendency to disappear, leaving just there legs standing there to be booked!

All that and the fact you cannot transfer players (although you can download squad updates, but no making your own dream team) leaves this game feeling like there is alot missing. Great for multiplayer, available with Ad-HOC or by subscribing to EA nations and playing across the world with Wi-Fi (at a price!) but single player doesnt give you anything to work towards...no reward.

Better luck next time lads
