Prince of Persia Revelations
Review by Legendaryscmt
"Could be better."
Graphics
By far, this game has decent graphics, with little chopping or lag. Characters look alright, while the cutscenes look amazing. I was surprised when I first started it up, watching what thiks little game has to offer.
Controls
Uh...alright. Simple moving and fighting is alright, but whewn you get more into combat with combos. running on walls, controling the camera, etc, it gets a little confusing at points. I will give it thought that the controls are not impossible, where the PSP does a nice job of controling the prince.
Sound
Did you hear that? Yes, it's the sound of sucking. The audio tracks are alright, but as a whole, god damn it all. You'll hear the music stop during gameplay, then start again, or even not at all. When the prince is talking, he'll stop mid sentence most times, then start from where he left off a few seconds later. The music, thank god, does not crap out during the cutscenes. Besides that fact, the music isn't too bad. Rock music playing when you're fighting, running in a lonely hall, solving puzzles. It's Prince of Persia material.
Gameplay
Not bad at all. Considering what I've played on the consols, it's a good port. With the controls, it seems that the combat flows quite nicely. Yet, when you're trying to solve puzzles, or trying to get out of a tricky room, the camera angles to make it hard, and when you try and change them, ether you get an angle you don't want, or you go to the full view, in which you really can't see much anyway. The AI is a little lagging, where as they are easy, and when they gang up on you, they tend to hold back and come at you one at a time. As noted before, the music doesn't really work out, so most of the time it's better to just turn down, or off, the sound on your PSP. Combat has some nice combos, but you'll just mostly be hacking and slashing through your enemies, not even remembering the combos. Graphics flow nicely, so you won't see any figures moving through eachother or anything like that. Remember the nice cutscenes I talked about earlier? Well, there is one downside. During gameplay, when it happens, the gameplay will completely freeze up for a few seconds. At first, I thought my PSP froze itself, but then the cutscene popped up. The load times in this game are a little long, with some load times happening even during gameplay, which is a no no.
Overall
Not a bad port. The guys did a good job on the game, with the exception of the sound, which needs A LOT of work. It's not a very hard game, the AI not quite up to par. All in all, I would say rent this game. It really isn't worth 50, or even 40 dollars. Buy a good game instead, like Liberty City Stories, or Metal Gear Acid, or even Smackdown VS. Raw 2006 (good game, long load times).
