Review by MTAsaiddhey

"An enjoyable shooter, while not too deep, it still provides you with the thrill of being a good portable shooter."

Many pondered over how a PSP shooter would play. Judging by this game, I'd say pretty darn good. SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals is a series on the PS2 which I've never bothered to play. I bought FTB in hopes of a fun online experience similar to Counter-Strike. And that's exactly what I got...

Gameplay 8/10

Any FPS fan would be skeptical of the concept of an auto-aim combat system, and rightfully so. FTB implements this mechanic and hit's it dead on. Basically, you use the analog nub to move around, and press R to target someone. Then you fire. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. You can just release fire like a madman, but recoil will kill your accuracy, making you miss your enemy. Skill is involved on knowing your gun and how much you can shoot without getting off target. Online is fast-paced and tons of fun. Grenades, bullets, and bombs go off all around you, making it quite exciting. Although, sometimes the camera will turn in an awkward position near a wall, rendering your vision.... Other than that, nothing hinders your experience.

Graphics 10/10

What more could you ask for? The environments are awesome, the guns are sharp, and the character models look outstanding. Often times I thought I was playing a PS2! The frame rate is steady, and there's no slowdown whatsoever. I was blown away at how amazing these graphics were for a portable.

Sound 10/10

Amazing.... Blast the sound, and you're completely immensed in war. The guns have unique sounds, as do different grenades and explosions. When a RPG comes whizzing by, you'll know it. The voice overs are also good. Giving commands online and off are easy and useful. Online wise, you can actually buy a headset and communicate in game. This is great and makes the atmosphere even more army/military like.

Replayability 10/10

Single player is fun and unique, especially because it is more tactical and stealthy than online. It will last a while, and then gives you an opportunity to play against bots on the maps you've beaten. This is great practice for online players, and also for people who can't access online mode. Online is incredible, allowing clans and message boards. Gameplay online is very fast paced and fun, because it's easy to be decent.

Bottom Line

Buy it. This was one of my best PSP purchases, especially for a shooter fan. Get it, and you WON'T regret it.
