Metal Gear Acid
Review by cammy1888
"Great Game with many twists and turns."
I believe that this game is one of the better card based strategy games for Sony, as it combines Metal Gears stealth element with an effective turn based system, that (as far as I know) is unique to Metal Gear Acid. This ties in well with the other games in the Metal Gear series (Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) as it shows the other key characters skills in their respective cards, such as Solidus Snake (Snake's Brother), in his card the effect is that if you are standing with an enemy in front of you then Snake will use Solidus's twin swords to slash the enemy for 200 damage, whereas Cyborg Ninja will, when his card is activated, appear behind an enemy and slash him 5 times for 10 damage a time.
Story: I was able to follow the storyline basics with ease, that unless the US Government obtains the disk known as "Pythagoras", many innocent lives will be lost through a multiple plane collision, one of which the favourite for the Presidential elections, Viggo Hach, is on, this plane also has a bomb on it that will activate if the plane drops below 50000 feet, thus rendering landing impossible:
Solid Snake is forced out of retirement (AGAIN) to save the day by infiltrating a research facility that has been seized by the Mercenaries of Leone, and steal Pythagoras.
Gameplay: This game is easy to get into, as the cards sometimes go in your favour, and you keep saying to yourself, "just one more stage", and other times you will be saying "this games not going to beat me", as many gamers will experience when it comes to a certain fight. I will not disclose any more here, as I do not want to spoil anything...
Graphics: The Graphics in this game are pretty extraordinary for a hand-held, as the graphics are MGS2 quality at least, with great picture when the characters are talking, its pretty unbelievable at times, but any MGS player know that happens every game from them. And this in itself is worth the long wait times between games as we all expect from such a brilliant company.
Sound: Although there is no voice acting in this game, the music enhances the Gameplay by alerting you to things happening around you, for instance, if you are spotted but the alarm haven't been raised yet then you can tell by then change of music and the customary ! that appears, with its own special sound, and the weapons have a quite realistic quality to them.
Game Time/ Replayability: I personally believed this game to be extremely good when it comes to replaying as all the things you ended your last game with are kept in your inventory into the next game and this allows you a major advantage as you can then use better cards on the earlier enemies.
Final Word: This game is DEFINITELY one to buy, as A: the rent stores won't have it yet and B: you will never grow tired of it; fans of both MGS and card games will love this game
