Star Wars: Battlefront II
Review by JK22290
"An Engaging and pleasing game"
Graphics: 8/10
For a portable the graphics are impeccable and highly pleasing. In space battles I can find no flaw but space battles aren't the main focus of this game. The bodies of rebel soldiers and other members of the rebel alliance are highly different ,but all of their faces are the exact same thing. If this was on an original PlayStation I wouldn't mind but I just expect a little more out of my next gen. games. Also I cannot tell the difference between Chewbacca and wookie soldiers except for the fact that the wookie soldiers have a head dress on there heads. Also sometimes Yoda does not have the bottom of his cape. Remember this graphics review is only for the PSP version.
Sound: 7/10
Lucas Arts in my mind has not made a good soundtrack for a star wars game EVER! It's true that a lot of the songs do just suck. Some of the levels are huge offenders of this crappy music. Most levels sound like rejects from a Germanic version of American Idol or from the audition tape of a poor Broadway play. Many of the battle sounds are acceptable, but just don't much variety. And only in certain spots do you hear the swing of the light saber nor do you hear light sabers clashing against each other.
Online Play: 6/10
Most of the time when you are playing online play you find your-self asking the question why aren't many people here? Well it is because the online play in this game BLOWS! There are many glitches that cause the game to lag for an extended amount of time. Most of the time your screen freezes and you cant move so people will just come up to you and kill you while your screen is frozen. To sum up the online play it is slow moving and awkward and just isn't worth anyone's time.
Game Play: 8/10
The game play is a pleasing mix of space battles and battles on planets. However when you are in an area surrounded by enemies the game will lag which isn't really a big deal it's just that the most basic CPU would be able to run it fine. The galactic conquest mode has been completely revamped so it resembles more of a board game. It uses battles to determine the fate of planets and your fleet of ships. The new assault mode where you can play as any Jedi from the movies or any Sith from the movies is a fun mix of strategy and 3rd person fights. Assault mode is only available in one level which is disappointing. I would love to see Obi-Wan Fighting The Emperor on Hoth or Dagobah. There are some levels that you just cant win while on one side in conquest mode. For example, it is practically impossible to win Hoth while on the rebels side. After you play for a while boredom will set in and you will realize that every level is almost the same and you do practically the same thing in every level.
Over All: 7/10
I want to make this section short and sweet. This is basically a time occupier that can be fun for a while but can get boring.
