Final Fantasy

Review by MexRAGE

"The way it should be created"

Final Fantasy 1, it has been a long time since i play this game in my nintendo. What can i say? This game hook me to the series. The now 16 years old game seem some to have some battle problems and horrible graphics, but now it was remaked for the WSC.

Story: The Story of this game is the weakest point of it, You're the light warrior and you have to save the world by lighting the crystals, that's all, you won't have some plot twist like the other ff games. But hey, is one of the first RPG in the history.

Gameplay: Another thing didn't change too much was the gameplay, but this time in the good way, all the veteran of the first one will be happy to know the game is almost intact, the dungeon are exactly like the original, all the towns, npc, enemies, tresaure chest, everything, the menus has been fixed as well the battle system, now if 1 character kill a monster and the other one was meant to attack him, it wont appear ineffective, of course all this options can be turned off for the purist. The game is also very hard compared to the last released rpgs, in one if a enemies get you by surprise all of them will do Fire 3 and kill all your party members, and you can't do anything about it. The good thing about FF1 is that you chose what class of characters you will have: The powerful Warrior-Knight, The agile Thief-Ninja, The Crappy Monk-Black Belt, The versatile and well balanced Red Mage-Red Wizard, The necessary healer White Mage-White Wizard and the always big bad atack magic user Black Mage-Black Wizard

Graphics: The wonderswan color version looks like a Snes game, the sprite, the scenarios, monsters, everything has been upgraded, and it look good. This game kick most of the GBA graphics. Is like playing a Snes game only with out the mode 7. Square has always success to push the hardware to it's limits.

Sound: You can expect too much about the sound thanks to the WSC speakers. the soundtracks hasn't change too much.

Last Appeal: This game is a bit long, and hard and you can always experiment with different party members combinations. The game take about 20 or more hours to complete it.

Buy/Rent: You will have a hard time to get this game, WSC is not avaible in the States, maybe because the market here is totally dominated by the evil corporation nintendo. If you get it you can use some gamefaqs guide to traslate and if you played the original, there is no need to know japanese
