    This guide is not a walkthrough. It consists solely of charts and information
    and stuff. Please look elsewhere for gameplay information.
    
    PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS GUIDE:
    
    Before you use this guide, I have three simple requests:
    
    1. Don't send me corrections about this walkthrough. It is a done deal - 
    a complete document. It's not 100% accurate, but life is rough like that.
    
    2. Don't email me looking for help. If it isn't here, I don't know. Try other
    FAQs, the official guide, message boards, whatever. But please be courteous -
    I've received thousands of emails about this guide. THOUSANDS. Almost all of
    them have been ignored, because I simply DO NOT have time to be a help line.
    Square has employees who get paid for that sort of thing; this guide is
    something I've done in my free time. So please, if you need help, seek it
    elsewhere. A lot of other people have put great effort into making other very
    worthwhile guides. Try finding your answers there as well.
    
    3. Don't ask for permission to use this guide on your site. You can't. I used
    to be a lot more lenient about this, but then a lot of lazy slobs whose idea of
    a "worthwhile website" is to harvest new documents from GameFAQs.com and never
    update them posted early versions of my guides on their site and then - ugh -
    NEVER UPDATED THEIR COPIES. Which means that in January of 2002 I'm still
    getting inquiries about completing FAQs which were finished two years ago. I no
    longer have the time or energy to deal with the fruits of their laziness and
    incompetence, so this guide is available ONLY at my website and GameFAQs.
    
    And it probably goes without saying, but you'd be surprised at how dishonest
    (or stupid) some people can be: do not use this guide without my permission.
    Don't rewrite it, don't hack it up for your website, don't copy it, and don't
    post it without my name. For most people this is an obvious matter of respect,
    but I'm worried about the 4 or 5 freaks out there who failed their ethics

    I. ELEMENTS ----------------------------------
    
    Magic is divided into classes, just like in Chrono Trigger. Some of the
    spells are similar to Final Fantasy standbys, but are categorized
    differently (i.e., Holy is Spirit magic in Final Fantasy, but in Chrono
    Cross it's Light/Lightning). So don't rely on your encyclopedic knowledge
    of Final Fantasy to get you safely through Chrono Cross, my young
    apprentice.
    
    I've broken this up alphabetically by Level for your convenience.
     
     SPELL NAME: Name of the Element.
     TYPE: Element class and level variance (+/-).
       R=Red - B=Blue - Y=Yellow - G=Green - W=White - K=Black
     EFFECT: What the Element does.
     EQUIP.: Character Element classes who can equip this skill.

    II. SUMMONS ----------------------------------------------------------
    
    Summons are like elements, except that instead of attacking enemies with
    lightsourced polygons, you call a monster to dish out the special effects
    for you. Summons are limited in use and difficult to activate, sort of the
    opposite of Final Fantasy VIII's Guardian Forces. As such, judicious use of
    Summons is key to winning many of the tougher battle.

    III. COMBINATION TECHS --------------------------
    
    Just like in Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross offers its share of combination
    attacks. With 40-ish characters in the game, expect there to be a LOT of
    possibliities. The combos seem a bit less obvious than the regimented Tech
    system in Chrono Trigger, meaning you can probably expect to unlock more
    abilities as you earn and discover new skills throughout the game. Sadly, 
    there really aren't as many special Combo Techs as there could be.

    IV. WEAPONS -----------------------------------
    
    Weapons, you know, those crazy things you use to dish out damage. Woo hoo.
    Everybody starts with a weapon and weapons cannot be unequipped, so consider
    Bone/Ivory the base type and all attribute improvements are an increase over
    the base type. Interestingly, many items sell for more than the cost of
    forging, but bear in mind you abandon all components used in the construction
    of a weapon when you sell it. While it's possibly tempting to sell a Spectra
    Glove
    for 10,960 G, can you really bear to part with the seven rare elements used to
    make it?

    VII. TRADING ------------------------------------
    
    Why sell your Elements for a tiny pittance when you can trade them for doodads
    to make your weapons with instead? To create components, you have to trade in 
    Elements; the number required is a cumulative sum of the Element levels you
    trade in. So for an item which requires 20 Element levels, you can trade in 4
    L.5 FreeFalls or 20 L.1 AquaBeams, or any other combination of Elements which
    adds up to 20 or more. Capsules are a great trade item, as they're cheap and
    plentiful L.3 Elements.

    the person you're facing. These are listed in roughly the order you acquire
    them, so you can look without being spoiled for future items.

     Shark's Tooth......... Given by fishmonger in basement of Arni Village  
                            (Home). Allows you to recruit Mojo.
                            
     Heckran Bone.......... Good for soup? Found beneath bed of restaurant in
                            Arni VIllage (Home). Use to entice Poshul to join.
     
     Safety Gear........... Keeps you from biting the dust in the marsh. 
                            Acquired on the fungal stalks at the west end of 
                            the forest (Another).
    
     Heavy Skull........... A strange, talking skull named Skelly marked with 
                            clown paint. It joins your party as an inventory item 
                            and occassionally reacts to verbal cues. Found in the 
                            valley of dinosaur bones (Another).
    
     Big Egg............... Poached from large bird in dinosaur valley (Another). 
                            DragonChild hatches from it.
    
     Bellflowers........... Plucked from atop the cliff in dinosaur valley. 
                            Give to Glenn (Another).
    
     Tele-Porter........... Given by Kid - allows you to switch party members 
                            while on the world map (Another).
    
     Manor Key............. Found in dragon stables at the Viper Conservatory 
                            (Another). Use it to enter the mansion.
    
     Hero's Medal.......... A shiny badge given to you by one of the children 
                            in the training yard at Glenn's house. Pierre was 
                            looking for this (Another).
                            
     Decor Shield.......... A purty blue shield in Viper Manor. Part of Pierre's 
                            3-piece hero set (Another)
    
     Aroma Pouch........... Found beneath the waterfall in the forest east of 
                            Termina (Another). Used to lure the small polyps from  
                            the bushes in the woods.
                            
     Book of Poems......... Talk to the waitress a few times in each dimension and  
                            she'll give you this to hand to her other self (Home).
    
     Astral Amulet......... Acquired in Guldove when Kid is wounded (Another). Use 
                            it on the beach to cross dimensions.
    
     Green Tinkler......... Acquired from the dwarf in the bar in Guldove 
                            (Another). Use it near the large vine plants in Hydra 
                            Marsh to cause them to allow you to pass.
                            
     Parlor Key............ Allows you to enter the locked door of the first 
                            basement of Viper Manor (Another). Found in a bucket 
                            outside the prison cells.
    
     Beeba Flute........... Insects dig it, baby. Get it in Hydra Marsh (Home). 
                            Use it on the platform beyond where you received it to 
                            summon a Hydra.
    
     Hydra Humour.......... A cure for an ailing friend. Acquired from the Hydra 
                            (Home).
    
     Ice Breath............ Can freeze magma. Acquired from Blue Dragon (Another).
     
     Garai Keepsake........ A memento of Garai - a small mirror. Can be used to 
                            pass through other mirrors.
    
     Einlanzer............. The only sword which can destroy the Masamune.
    
     Station Pass.......... Dropped by shade in Geddon Station. Used to access 
                            Medical Book.
    
     Medical Book.......... Give this to Doc (Another) to teach him "HangTen."
    
     Handle................ Necessary for cheating Casino sharks. Get it on 
                            Zelbess (Home).
    
     Smith Spirit.......... Once Zappa is in your party, this allows you to   
                            reforge your weapons on the world map (Home).
    
     Mixed Bones........... More of Skelly's bits 'n' pieces. In the cave on the 
                            Island of Bones (Another).
    
     Angry Scapula......... Found beneath the waterfall in the eastern woods where 
                            you can meet Nikki (Another). For Skelly.
    
     Sturdy Ribs........... Found in the Island Ruins (Another). For Skelly.
    
     Pelvic Bone........... Acquired from the Element disassembler in Guldove    
                            (Another). For Skelly.
                            
     Prison Key............ Norris will be a good lad and give this to you to help 
                            you rescue Riddel (Home).
    
     Fiddler Crab.......... Given to you by the Sage on the Zelbess (Home). Use at 
                            the south area of the eastern vortex on the map.
    
     Star Fragment......... Found in a chest beneath the mysterious stone triangle 
                            in the southern ocean (Home).
    
     Prop Sword............ Found in park area of ruined futuristic mall (Home)
    
     Good Spine............ Another component for Skelly's skeleton. Found in  
                            Hydra Marsh (Another).
    
     Ancient Fruit......... Defend the Beeba in Hydra Marsh (Another). Feed 
                            fruit to a flying Hydra to reach a remote area. (Can 
                            also be acquired by defeating the same Beeba in 
                            Hydra Marsh (Home).)
    
     Life Sparkle.......... Found in a chest in Hydra Marsh (Another). Used to 
                            acquire NeoFio.
    
     Tear of Hate.......... Given by Zoah or Karsh in Termina (Another). 
                            Apparently this was taken from the top of the 
                            mysterious dungeon after the event with Lynx.
    
     Dragon Emblem......... Show the Shattered Crystal to Deria in Guldove 
                            (Another). Needed to recruit Steena.
    
     Explosive............. Given in the Sand Cave (Home). Use in the same area to 
                            move a stubborn turtle.
                            
     Mushroom.............. A rare delicacy with some disturbing properties. Find 
                            it in the cave beneath Viper Manor (Another) and give 
                            it to Lisa's father.
    
     Sapphire Broach....... A piece of jewelry given to you by Orlha when you 
                            defeat her at Guldove (Another). Proof of Serge's 
                            identity.
    
     Black Relic........... Defeat the Black Dragon.
    
     Red Relic............. Defeat the Red Dragon.
    
     Blue Relic............ Defeat the Ice Dragon.
    
     Yellow Relic.......... Defeat the Yellow Dragon.
    
     Green Relic........... Defeat the Green Dragon.
    
     Tear of Love.......... The alternate world counterpart to the other shattered 
                            Dragon Tear.
    
     Chrono Cross.......... Receive this for reuniting the shattered Tears at 
                            Divine Dragon Falls.
    
     Card Key.............. Found on the 4th Floor of Chronopolis; used for 
                            basement access.
    
     Ice Gun............... Necessary to pass burning debris. Luckily, the burning 
                            debris you encounter is in the house where you find 
                            it.
    
     Time Egg.............. Use this to access the Gate to the final battle.
    
     Relief Charm.......... Allows you to swap a character into Serge's place 
                            during battle (New Game+ only).
    
     Time Shifter.......... Allows you to accelerate or slow game speed with the 
                            L2/R2 buttons (New Game+ only).
