Hello, and thank you for viewing this guide. Hopefully you will find lots of 
helpful advice that you may not have been able to discover on your own. Even 
though this game came out...geez, was it a decade ago? I feel old. :( I would 
still like to create a guide, because I haven't really seen a lot of solid 
walkthroughs out there to this day. I hope to explain a lot of the frequent but 
small puzzles in this game thoroughly. Ironically, this is probably the hardest 
of the Crash games. With some luck, this will clear up some troubles.

PLEASE do not e-mail me about corrections this guide may need, because I'm not 
updating this again. One shot deal. This is why, just as my other insta-post 
guides, I don't have a Credits section and the FAQs are all ones I've thought 
of. But I'd like to think this guide is perfect already. Heh.

                         010 - Characters Of The Game

Crash Bandicoot - Yep, your standard main hero (that doesn't say anything). Not 
really a whole lot to say about him, sadly. He was created as part of a lab 
experiment gone wrong from Cortex's place.

Tawna (girlfriend) - She's the one you're rescuing. I don't know what happened 
to her between this game and the next one, but this is her only appearance. She
is also way taller than Crash.

Neo Cortex - The main protagonist, duh. "Creator" of Crash...and yeah. He's 
really insane and his reasons for being mad at everything are vague. For some 
reason he becomes more calculating in the later games instead of just "let's go 
find Crash and kill him!"...oh well.

Nitrus Brio - Cortex's lab assistant. Probably is even more insane too. That'd 
be an interesting contest. He becomes good in the second Crash game for 
absolutely no reason at all, because the makers are sellouts.

Aku Aku - Yes, the mask has a name. Helps Crash along the way for some reason 
by acting as his health. Naughty Dog was very vague about a lot of things that 
go on in this game, and the mask's origins are unknown.

Wumpa Fruit: Your basic item. Collect a hundred to receive an extra life.

Extra Life: Gee, I wonder what this does. Looks like Crash's head. Sort of.

Mask: Your "health" so that you won't die when hit. 3 will cause invincibility.

Bonus Round Pieces: Collect 3 in a level to reach a bonus area with boxes.

Gems: Fun little things that add percentage. See section below.

Keys: Unlock new levels for Crash. See section below.

Gems are special rewards once you reach the end of the level. There are two 
requirements to receive a gem: one is that you must break ALL of the boxes in 
that level. The other is, in this game only, that you CANNOT die ONCE while you 
try to obtain it. This factor is what makes Crash 1 the hardest Crash game of 
them all. In addition, there are certain colored gems that will allow Crash to 
access areas in other levels that he couldn't reach before. I'll point these 
out to you later when needed.

Keys are a little different. They allow Crash to access entirely NEW levels. 
There are only two in the game. They can be found by receiving the three pieces 
needed to reach the Cortex bonus round. Again, there are only two.

Exclamation - Causes some sort of action to occur

Arrow - Allows Crash to jump up, you can bounce on it as many times as you like

TNT - Will explode after 3 seconds--do NOT spin to break

Here's where it all began folks. You see Crash recover from washing up on the 
shore. Smash the three boxes and run down the path. Kill the crab and jump over 
a few pits, getting boxes along the way. Encounter an "arrow" box and use it to 
reach the higher one. Kill more crabs and jump over more pits. Climb up the 
steps while getting more boxes. Spin the checkpoint.

Now, listen carefully. The following is very helpful. Walk PAST the next mask 
box if you already have a sparkly orange one following you. That's right, leave 
it alone for now. Kill the turtles and go across more pits. There's one box 
that's kind of hidden behind a fallen column, so look for that.

Go down the RIGHT path and spin the exclamation box, but do NOT go across the 
bridge. Return over the pit and now go LEFT. Take care of the lone turtle and 
the boxes. Now go back to where you left the last mask box, remember? Be 
cautious of the pits. Smash the box--you are now invincible and can destroy 
boxes upon contact. Return to the "box-bridge" and simply walk across it while 
in this form. All of them will be automatically counted towards your number.

Remember that will only work if you did exactly how I told you to do it. Kill 
the last turtle and exit the level after one more box.

102 - Jungle Rollers

Bounce on the arrow box for the higher box, then grab the mask and jump on the 
TNT. Run down the path, killing several skunks along the way and hopping over 
pits. After the first stone wheel, you should acquire the first bonus round 
part out of three. Kill the venus fly trap and then more skunks, jump over the 
pit and then around the wheel.

Get the mask box. Jump over more pits. Take the checkpoint and smash the wall 
out of boxes. Pas the next wheel is the second piece for the bonus round. Kill 
the skunks. When you reach the part with an extra life sandwiched between two 
TNTs, time your jump right. Don't spin the at the top of your jump, but rather 
when you're coming back down. Run while they explode. Kill the skunks and the 
venus fly trap. Smash the boxes and time your jump carefully over gaps.

Soon you should acquire the final piece for the bonus world. This one is very 
simple. One measly gap and a few boxes. Next to the portal is Crash's 
girlfriend, whom you mysteriously never see again after this game.

Continue on. Avoid the enemies like you've been doing so far. Jump the gap to 
the opposing wheels and you should be fine.

103 - The Great Gate

Hm, a side scroller. Break the boxes and jump up. Grab the mask box and 
continue on. Kill the turtles and venus fly trap. Break the box that contains 
the bonus round piece and time your jump between the bouncing steel boxes. Kill 
the monkey when he's not moving, or just jump over him.

Soon you should reach a spot with three logs above you. Spin them so that they 
will now serve as a platform. Be careful though, because after a while they 
will turn back. Break the checkpoint and take care of the various enemies. 
Dodge the spiky poles (which is easy) and receive the second bonus round piece 
now. When the lady with the shield approaches you, the trick is to jump on top 
of her and then spin her away.

More tricks. Be careful of the new moss-like stuff and the torch-platform. Time 
your jumps well. The torch-platform will warn you that it is about to flame up 
with another, smaller flame.

You should receive the final bonus round piece. Everything you must do in here 
is fairly self-explanatory--be careful towards the end with the boxes between 
the steel ones. At the end are two extra lives.

Now you're pretty much done. Spin the turtle away before the spiky poles come 
down. Exit the level after jumping onto the final platform.

104 - Boulders

Heh, I had SO much trouble with this level when I was in fifth grade. Take care 
of the boxes and get ready. Actually, the first one is easy. Simply jump over 
two pits while running from it. Grab the boxes inside this area.

The next one has more pits, a few fences, and two boxes. The fences won't hurt 
you, but you WILL slow down, which might cause you to miss the boxes. Note that 
the boulder will NOT break the boxes for you.

Finally, we need to deal with both circular platforms and higher wood...things. 
The key is to follow the fruit path, except when you need to get that one box. 
After a bunch of circular platforms, you should reach the end of the level.

105 - Upstream

Move back first to grab the mask. The lily pads in the river levels will sink 
after a while with you standing on it, so move quickly. The first question mark 
box will contain a bonus round piece. After the fish, you should come to a leaf 
that floats back and forth. Wait for it to come near you before reaching the 
other side.

Jump across more lily pads and avoid more fish. Be wary of the moss-covered 
log. Nab the checkpoint. Jump to the leaf while avoiding the fish. Here's an 
interesting enemy--what do you think happens if you stay on this green venus 
fly trap for too long? Hmm. Go quickly to the other side. Receive the second 
bonus round piece. Jump across more leaves, lily pads, and green venus fly 
traps. Soon you should come to a blue venus fly trap--obviously don't jump at 
it right when it's about to snap. A ways up you should receive the final bonus 
round part to complete your collection.

This is both simple and hard. My advice is to spin the boxes you're about to  
jump the bottom one with, but use the next row to stop yourself from moving 
further. Again, receive the two extra lives at the end.

Move forward on the leaf. On the next leaf, you must jump onto the blue venus 
fly trap as soon as you can to avoid dying.

106 - Papu Papu

Boss

Oh man, this guy's so easy it's embarrassing. Okay, he has the traditional 
three hits before he dies. He only has one attack--using a giant stick/staff, 
he spins around in the center of the room. Simply jump to avoid the stick. To 
attack him, wait until his back is towards you, then jump on his head. He will 
lose one health. His pattern never varies, so it should be over very quickly.

107 - Rolling Stones

Kill the venus fly trap and get the boxes. Up ahead is a mask and a bonus round 
piece (girlfriend). Avoid more stones and use the arrow box to reach an N. Brio 
bonus round piece. Run down the path further to kill venus fly traps and avoid 
more stones. Carefully obtain the mask sandwiched between the TNT.

further up is a set of nine boxes, four of which are TNT. The MIDDLE one is an 
extra life, and the top left one holds an N. Brio piece. Move past more of the 
stones--time everything carefully. Soon you will come to the second girlfriend 
bonus round piece. Avoid more stones while hopping across moving circular 
pillars. Now listen, this is important--you should come across a venus fly trap 
soon. DON'T spin it, but jump to kill it. If you spin, then it will destroy a 
crucial arrow box that allows you to reach another box. After that you should 
eventually find the last girlfriend piece.

Heh, this requires patience. Time your jumps carefully and don't be hasty. If 
you are a true Crash vet though, you know this is fairly simple in comparison 
to what is to come later in this game.

Return to the level. This is a little hard. Time your jumps very carefully 
across the circular pillars and avoid the stones. Be patient. At the end of the 
level is the final piece of the N. Brio collection.

Basically, you just need to get to the end quickly while avoiding the gaps. You 
must act fast because obviously the TNT will go off. Have fun, heh. After that, 
grab the three extra lives. Spin the first box, causing the TNT to start its 
countdown. Move across the top steel boxes. Get the three extra lives at the 
end. And now you should be at the end of the level.

108 - Hog Wild

Hahaha, I love that look Crash gives us. Jump the gaps and move quickly to 
break the boxes. You need to always have a sharp eye on where the boxes are up 
ahead, because we'll be making some sharp turns.

When you reach the part where there's moving hula ladies, go in the opposite 
area they're headed in. Jump on the drum to make it to the other side. There's 
not a while not else I can say. The worst part of course is trying to obtain 
all of the boxes during those tight turns. Keep practicing!

109 - Native Fortress

Yay, we're almost off this island! Grab the boxes, one of which is a girlfriend 
bonus round piece. Go up. Use the turtle to reach the mask. Take care of the 
various enemies here and avoid the spiky poles and the torch-platform. Spin the 
three logs and head on up. You should happen upon the next bonus round piece.

When you reach the top, head right now. Be extra careful of all the torch-
platforms. Use the hula lady to reach the extra life. Continue on carefully. 
When you reach the TNT, be quick about getting the extra lives, then jump up 
from the steel box right when it's about to go off. Soon after that you should 
receive the final bonus round piece.

Jump on the first box and use the arrow one to reach an extra life. After that, 
jump across the next two boxes and you're done.

Continue up the area. Get the mask to the left if you dare. Nab the checkpoint. 
Use the turtle to get the other box. Notice how in the background there's a 
pole that doesn't have an end to it? Jump back there to avoid all of the icky 
stuff to follow and you'll end up at a torch-platform. Continue forward while 
being careful. Eventually you'll come to another pole in the background with no 
end (near three torch-platforms). Go behind there for an extra life. Finish the 
level off by heading up again.

Jump past everything for awhile. It's very self-explanatory. Soon you should 
come to the first bonus round piece after jumping past a blue venus fly trap. 
Kill the monkey AFTER he rolls past the end of his platform. Continue past some 
easy jumping stuff. Wait for the blue venus fly trap to jump snap before going. 
Run past the row of lily pads.

Jump on the exclamation box. Run BACK down the row of lily pads once you see 
they've come back up. Below the log is an extra life. Bounce on the TNT before 
returning to take care of your box count.

Now proceed back. Soon you should receive the second bonus round piece. Run 
down the lily pads and be careful of the fish and the various venus fly traps. 
The final bonus round piece is up ahead.

This is fairly self-explanatory. Use the arrow box to get some of the boxes, 
then make your way right and break the rest. On the triangle shaped thing, it's 
best to reach the middle and then work back, then forward.

There's not much else in this level. Continue to use careful timing to jump 
past the venus fly traps while avoiding the fish that jump up.

202 - Ripper Roo

Boss

My favorite boss, probably. Roo will first hop between the lower left platform, 
the center, and the lower right. Jump on a TNT around the area that he will go 
by when it is about to explode. For this first hit, I recommend hitting the TNT 
when it's in the center, because he goes there twice.

The second time he'll jump between the three middle platforms and the middle 
bottom one. Then for his last hit, he'll move around in a diamond pattern. Time 
things right and he'll soon be gone.

203 - The Lost City

Immediately you should see a mask hidden in a passageway. To your left is an 
extra life and an arrow box that you can grab by jumping around the steel 
boxes. You will then approach stones that try to push you off. There is also a 
lizard you must kill and extra lives behind him. Jump across the platforms (one 
of them will fall) and kill the bat, then immediately fall down to the pit area 
below and wait for the bats to pass overhead. Get the box, which has the first 
girlfriend bonus round piece. Enter the thing that looks like a face and jump 
on top of the box high to see off an exclamation box. Once you're brave enough, 
kill the other stationary bat and grab the checkpoint.

Up ahead is a single box that you must obviously break to reach the N. Brio 
piece. Kill the bats and hop across more platforms. Kill more bats and a lizard 
while noting the boxes behind you, with a girlfriend piece in one. Ahead is a 
hopping lizard that you MUST use to reach the N. Brio piece. Jump on the 
extending platforms to reach the checkpoint. Land on the exclamation box after 
you get the extra life. Go in the area behind and to the right for the final N. 
Brio bonus round piece.

Obviously you must jump on the TNT, going across before it explodes. Spin the 
boxes so that you may jump further. Get the three extra lives. Hop across more 
TNT fun and receive more extra lives at the end.

Hop across a weird stone-swing thing and kill the red lizard. When you reach 
the part with the moving stones, wait until they move back in syncopation. 
Use the lizard to reach the box. Soon you should see the final girlfriend bonus 
round piece.

This is very straight-forward. I guess they really wanted to give you a break. 
You won't be able to get all of the boxes, so just grab a few.

Kill the lizard while he's back at his original place. Make sure to wait until 
the last lizard is in the center so you can reach the exclamation box for two 
boxes that will appear. Done!

204 - Temple Ruins

Here's one I really hate. Walk quickly past the spears and get the boxes here. 
Jump past platforms. A snake will appear in the hole, so defeat him. Jump 
across more platforms and encounter another snake eventually. Time your jump so 
that you avoid the spears and land safely on the moving columns.

Be careful in this next area--bats will come. Time your jumps. The next area 
has an easily-killable spider. Walk onto the circular platform, which will 
transport Crash somewhere else. Time your moves across the torch-platforms 
while dodging the spears. Checkpoint is ahead.

Another area with bats. As long as you are careful, this shouldn't be too much 
of a problem. Grab the mask.

Once you jump past the platforms, you should come to another area with spears 
coming out. At the tile before the spears, go left (so that you will seemingly 
fall) and watch as boxes appear for your path. At the end is a large amount of 
boxes that form a staircase.

Soon, you should encounter a circle of moving pillars. Be careful--they fall 
down. After you reach the center, continue down. Break the checkpoint and take 
care of the stupid spider.

Delay your jump over to the next torch-platform, as its flame burns longer. 
Carefully make your way through the huge circle of falling pillars. Go through 
another area of bats and you're done.

205 - Road To Nowhere

Heh, this is fun. Grab the boxes and proceed up. Mote that the darker colored 
wood pieces fall after awhile. Also note that the partial pieces won't hold you 
up at all. After you reach the checkpoint, you should receive a girlfriend 
bonus round piece. A boar is up ahead--all you can do is jump over it. If you 
jump on top of two out of the three boxes up ahead, you'll receive an extra 
life for your efforts.

In this level, it really pays to keep a careful eye on Crash's shadow while 
he's jumping to figure out where to land. Soon you should come across another 
checkpoint. After you pass the boar, there's another girlfriend piece. Continue 
down the road, or lack thereof. Another girlfriend piece for you.

Spin the box and jump between the steel boxes. Land on the TNT and wait on the 
top steel box so that, when it goes off, you can reach the top. Activate one 
more TNT and you're at the end of the bonus.

Now use the turtle to bounce to the next platform. Another shell is ahead, so 
do the same thing. Now you're pretty much at the end.

206 - Boulder Dash

Yay, another one of these. Get the boxes and be on your way. The first bit is 
mainly jumping on the circular platforms. After that you must avoid both fences 
and falling into pits. Grab the checkpoint.

The next one now involves circular platforms that move. Always be looking to 
see what is ahead! Weave between the wooden structures while using the wumpa 
fruit as a guide. More moving circular platforms, and then rest.

Now you must navigate both through fences and through the wooden structures. 
After that, it's another dose of circular platforms. Then do this while jumping 
over pits. More circular platforms, and you're done.

Here's a hellish level if I ever saw one. Go into the little area and break the 
one box. Jump past the torch-platform and onto the moveable stones. Quickly 
go past the moving stones and into the area that has a mask and an extra life. 
Be aware that the bats are faster now.

Take care of the lizards while avoiding more bats. Checkpoint! Move past the 
circulating platforms. Be careful with the extending planks--a mask is in the 
small cove, which may or may not be worth it. Another checkpoint.

Wait until all of the stones have pulled back before proceeding. Act fast. When 
going up, you should find a girlfriend piece. Go into the small room for a box, 
and up ahead is another checkpoint. The next area is self-explanatory--wait 
until you have enough time to run to the end without being shoved off. Wait for 
the bats to fly across before going ahead when you start climbing up.

When you reach the top, wait for the lizard to be lured to the exclamation 
point box so you can use him to reach it. Go to the back area and get these 
boxes, one of which being a Cortex piece. On the right is a mask you can get. 
Way up ahead are two boxes you MUST use to reach the extra life and the Cortex 
piece. Not too far after that is another girlfriend piece. Enter the area with 
the extra life for the final Cortex bonus round piece.

Quickly make your way through the TNT. Finish your jumps and quickly spin as 
fast as you can. He'll leave you a key.

Then up ahead is the final girlfriend bonus round piece. Get the boxes and the 
TNT. It's pretty easy to follow here.

Go up more platforms for a checkpoint. Lead the red lizard to the left so you 
can kill him easily. Get the boxes now and you're done with this stupid level.

208 - Koala Kong

Boss

The battle pattern itself is simple. Avoid getting hit by the TNT blasts and 
the rocks he throws. When a rock lands next to you, spin it back to him when a 
coal mining cart is not in the way. Obviously the number of TNT boxes used will 
slightly increase by the very end, so make sure to pick out a corner you can 
hide in to avoid its blast radius. Kong should be done with soon.

Jump past the platforms and the camera thing. Spin the robots. Note that 
touching the red pipe will cause damage. reach for the mask and avoid the spiky 
robot. Soon you should find the first girlfriend bonus round piece. Jump down 
between where you should see two spiky robots and go left. Get the mask, the N. 
Brio bonus round piece, and the extra life. Step on the transporter.

Now continue on. Jump over the pits and various pipes. You should reach the 
next N. Brio piece soon. Go past the conveyor belt while breaking boxes. Jump 
on the transporter at the end and reach the extra life if you dare. Soon you 
should reach another conveyor belt with a spiky robot--go under him to avoid 
damage. Go across fallible platforms and find the second girlfriend piece. Walk 
past the pipes that shoot out hot air. You should find the last girlfriend 
bonus round piece.

Some of the question mark boxes have extra lives. Don't try to break them all 
though, unless you want to risk falling. When you reach the triangle-shaped 
setup, land in the middle and work your way up. We've seen this before.

Go down and left. Navigate your way through pipes, conveyor belts, and robots. 
Break the box with a mask. Hop on the red platform to reach boxes. Run past 
more pipes and take another transporter while dodging pipes again. At the end 
is the final N. Brio piece.

You'll need some steady jumping hands for this one. Jump across boxes and reach 
the exclamation points at the end to go across another path. At the end is a 
bunch of extra lives, and Brio not looking too pleased.

Go down more platforms. At the end, use the red platforms to reach the boxes 
and, eventually, the end of the level.

302 - Cortex Power

path to take. Hmm...let's go right. Grab the box and avoid falling into the 
acid pits. Dodge the electricity and you should soon reach a checkpoint. Dodge 
more electricity and take the right path after you get the mask. Kill the 
hitman by gradually approaching him when he laughs. Hit the exclamation box. 
Now go left. Get the two boxes (don't go down left).

Destroy the checkpoint. Jump past the pool of acid and avoid the electricity as 
best you can. You should soon come to another crossroad--ignore it. Continue to 
jump past danger, and that's all we can do for now.

Grab the boxes and continue down. For awhile everything is self-explanatory. 
Take the girlfriend bonus round piece and the exclamation box before that. When 
going right for the newly made box path, keep in mind that the huge platform 
will only stay up for so long. Then, get the boxes going back. An extra life 
and a checkpoint is up ahead. Soon you'll see the second girlfriend piece. Be 
careful with these jumps! They're far apart. Move up and jump between moving 
platforms. At the end is the last girlfriend piece.

Make your way through the boxes. Two extra lives are along the way. Obviously 
this requires careful timing...practice for what's to come...

Break the mask box and proceed across the moving platforms. Be wary of the 
spiky robot that is here. At the end is a long column of boxes--an extra life 
can be reached with two of them. Move down and then left. Things'll get pretty 
hard (like it wasn't already!) so be extra careful. Reach the next checkpoint 
and break the wall of boxes. Carefully avoid the spiky robots zooming by. Go up 
the pathway and set off the TNT. Move up now. Avoid the red pipes, then do the 
same going forward. Yikes. Three extra lives await you at the end.

Despite the last two levels, this one isn't so bad if you're not too hasty. 
Kill the guy throwing barrels before getting the boxes. Barrels will start to 
roll in the next area. One box set has a girlfriend bonus round piece, while 
the other has two extra lives. Kill the guy and nab the checkpoint.

More of the same ahead. Break the boxes containing the girlfriend piece and the 
extra life. After that the guy will start to throw a barrel that will bounce up 
and down every three, so be aware of that. Grab the next checkpoint. All 
bouncing barrels here. You can kind of memorize where the barrels land by 
looking ahead. Be careful with the TNT. Soon you should reach the a girlfriend 
bonus round piece.

You must quickly run past the TNT and reach the end so you won't get caught 
when they go off. Find some extra lives at the end.

The very end is pretty tricky. If I were you, I'd get two masks from Heavy 
Machinery to deal with this section alone. All bouncing barrels here. Pay close 
attention to the pattern of the barrels and where they land.

305 - Pinstripe

Boss

Taking this guy out is easy once you know what to do. Hide behind the chains 
where he fires, then spin him when he moves. Do that for about three times. 
Then he'll start jumping on the overturned table. When his gun jams, that's 
your only chance to attack. Lastly, he'll need to be attacked on the table. It 
shouldn't be very long for Pinstripe.

Take the two extra lives. Go back and walk where the single wumpa fruit is. 
You'll have to jump, but there are four boxes back here. Now continue forward. 
Dodge the boar and get the extra life before breaking the box. The next area is 
all about jumping on turtles.

Break the checkpoint box and the one containing a girlfriend piece. More turtle 
stuff up ahead. This will quickly become much harder. Carefully navigate across 
the lone turtles that will help you. Soon you should reach a checkpoint and 
another girlfriend piece. Dodge some boars and reach another checkpoint. For 
the next checkpoint, you need to reach the top of the steel box before the TNT
goes off.

More turtle stuff. I obviously don't need to tell you to be careful. However, 
that's about all I can tell you. At the break between all of this is the final 
girlfriend bonus round piece.

Break the box and use the steel box to reach the other side before the TNT goes 
off. Pick your poison as to which path to take next.

Another turtle section. Amazingly, I got this on my first try. Have absolute 
patience and keep practicing. That's about all I can say.

307 - Slippery Climb

Gahh this gem sucks so much. Break the boxes in the beginning and head left. 
Note the stairs that collapse. This'll be really frequent later. Look at the 
guy with the hand in the jail cell up ahead. Be sure to spin that. Further are 
birds you must jump onto in order to reach the next platform. After you reach 
some tough-placed boxes, you should find the first N. Brio piece.

Continue on. Kill the birds/prisoners while jumping across the planks. Soon 
you'll reach four stairs that collapse. Time things well. Go up more stairs to 
another set of fun tricks. Eventually you'll reach a checkpoint. Yay. Continue 
up the platforms that move around, etc. Kill the henchmen throwing chemicals. 
Jump past more self-explanatory things and reach the second N. Brio piece. Not 
long after that is the final piece.

Jump on the arrow box to reach the TNT. Reach the extra life and then do the 
same thing again with another TNT and arrow box. Carefully arrive at the end of 
this bonus area and say hello to N. Brio.

Not much left. Jump across more platforms and birds. Kill one more henchman 
after going across three birds. Whew.

308 - Lights Out

Can't get the gem right now, so don't worry about dying. The masks give you 
light--two things are obvious. The first is that you must reach the next 
destination quickly before the mask runs out of power. The second is that you 
cannot take damage, or the mask will go away.

Start by jumping over a few pits. Next you must make your way across some 
platforms that fall. Hurry! Grab the checkpoint. Now Crash needs to jump across 
orange moving platforms--be sure of its distance before jumping. Soon you will 
encounter some rats--you can see them because of their red eyes. Take another 
checkpoint. Look for more platforms and rats.

Eventually you will reach the swinging axe. From here until the end it's "go as 
fast as you can" even more so than before. Most of the axes will have a partner 
axe that you need to watch out for. Be careful of the pit that exists at the 
very end of the level.

If you thought the Temple Ruins level was hard...grab the boxes and get the 
snake. Carefully jump across the platforms and kill the spider. Endure the 
circle of pillars and land onto an area with a mask. Run across the place with 
bats and eventually be transported on the small circles. At the end of the 
downward path is the first N. Cortex bonus round piece.

Up ahead is a spider. You MUST use it to jump to the next place. After that is 
the first girlfriend bonus round piece. Soon you should reach another, large 
circle of pillars--they move faster, so be careful. Use the spider coming up to 
reach the smashing pillars and bats. Break the checkpoint. Run past the spears 
and the snake, BUT. Don't spin to kill the snake. Jump on it instead. If you 
spin, it's body will fling towards the boxes ahead, ruining your chance to get 
the second N. Cortex piece.

You should soon notice a Wumpa fruit slightly off to the side--this reveals a 
path that holds an N. Cortex piece.

Jump on the boxes to land on the TNT. Land on the upper boxes so that you won't 
be hit (at the last second). Then go up the next set of boxes and land on the 
TNT, this time continuing forward on the path of TNT, before it explodes.

Now continue on and eventually you should come to the main path again. You 
should find the last girlfriend bonus round piece soon.

TNT time. If you set the TNT boxes off correctly and break the others just 
right, there's an extra life in it for you. Two more extra lives at the end.

That's basically the end of the level. Just a short section of smashing pillars 
and bats and whatnot. Congrats on making it past this tough area.

Jump down and go left, with very self-explanatory things here. Go up the stairs 
and up the transporter--jump off it before touching the hot pipes! Be carried 
across the conveyor belts. Another section of hot pipes awaits. Run across the 
pipes that blow hot air and jump down. Use the red platforms to reach the next 
area. When you fall, DON'T go on the next red platform, but instead proceed to 
a whole bunch of 'em.

After you travel down conveyor belts, you should come across a weird looking 
path of boxes. What you need to do is get all of the ones on top, then jump 
down to the second-to-last, jump to the first, then second, then last, then you 
should be able to land on the other side. It's tough, but it is possible to 
make. Go to the end and ride up the platforms. Avoid the hot air from the pipes 
here. Carefully avoid the hot pipes and you're done.

311 - Nitrus Brio

Boss

Kinda tough. Kinda. If you approach him, he'll smash his chemicals together, 
damaging you. First he'll throw a green chemical at you, causing a green blob 
to come out. To kill it, simply jump on it. That'll take away his health, too.

Next he'll throw red chemicals at you. Just plain avoid these. Then he will 
repeat with the blobs and explosions. finally, he'll drink his concoction and 
turn into a monster. Hop onto the falling platforms and jump on his head. Do 
this three times and he'll be done for.

second one contains a TNT, so it would be unwise to spin. Open the door and 
find the last girlfriend bonus round piece in the game.

Very straight-forward. Get any boxes you like, or none at all. Jump on the last 
three boxes to reach the end--no extra lives included.

Up ahead is a guy with electricity in his arms. Spin him when he's not giving 
off electricity. Do this until he falls. Kill the next yellow blob. Soon you 
should come across a guy who is throwing chemicals--quickly run past the vials 
and take care of him.

Allow the TNT to explode. Be careful of the electricity guy. Run past the other 
electricity ahead while avoiding the yellow blob. Time your jumps just right to 
land on the bridge and leap again before it goes away. Hop across the TNTs 
while avoiding the electricity before that. You're done!

all--keep looking for that green energy to spin back at him.

Strangely, you can die as much as you want in this one. Basically this is the 
same as the first hog level, except a lot harder. Start by avoiding the spiky 
poles and go left when at the hula lady. You'll soon approach a drum. Jump on 
it--with feeling! Aka press X once on it. Do this again to avoid spiky stuff. 
Go under the hog, and the one after that too. Go left with the hula lady and 
time your jump just right over the next hog.

Jump with the drum and nab the checkpoint. Go left for the hula girl again and 
make a right for the one after that. Continue to do what you've been doing. If 
you survive, the gem is yours.

This level is insane. Actually, no word can possibly describe the frustration 
you will feel over this level. I know I did, because I'm writing this guide. I 
did this for you. First off, take the mask and go back towards the screen to 
find seven hidden boxes back here. Do NOT break open of of the first mask boxes 
here--you'll need it for the short journey back. Then continue on other several 
fallible platforms. Next you should come to a section with moving platforms. 
Note that you will need to stay on the fallible platform no matter what until 
the next one comes for you. Stay on it until it falls.

Soon you should encounter a swinging axe. Get the next mask and jump past it. 
Kill the rats. You need to time a jump onto a moving platform. Next mask. Kill 
more rats while being careful to avoid axes. Grab the checkpoint.

It becomes crazy from here on out. Between the swinging axes are VERY small 
ledges you can jump onto. Time your jumps across here. Soon you should reach a 
spider--JUMP on it, don't spin it. A lot of times with spinning an enemy here 
you run the risk of the body opening a mask box up ahead. Note ahead that there 
is a stone ledge--this means that the axe is swinging directly on top of it, so 
don't stay long. Kill the spiders and reach the next mask.

You must jump to the next moving platform as soon as you can, because the axe 
will block your path. Soon you will come to two swinging axes with stone ledges 
here, so time your jumps carefully. Up ahead is another mask--you'll need to 
wait for the spider to come down so you can jump on it across. Kill the other 
spider, avoid the axes, and then use another spider to reach a checkpoint.

Kill the next spider. Run across the walkway, killing rats while avoiding axes. 
Reach the next mask. Avoid the axe while jumping on the spider. Avoid more axes 
and jump on three spiders and a fallible platform to *finally* reach the end.

At the very end of the level are gems you can hop across. Go up the logs and 
avoid danger while going right. Jump behind the fence for an extra lift, then 
go back. There is another place like this with lots of fruit, so go behind now. 
In addition, Crash will eventually come to some resistance while he's walking 
behind here--this is a box with an extra life in it. Don't forget this. You 
must go back if you want the gem. Continue past the various torch-platforms, 
the spiky poles, monkeys, venus fly traps, and hula girls. Reach the end and go 
up. The very end of the level is here.

504 - Upstream

Soon into the level you should see a group of gold gems beneath a log. An extra 
life box is down here. Simply hop from the gem to get back up. Then right 
before you exit the level are more gems. They'll transport you to leaves, which 
will take you to venus fly traps. Grab the two boxes. The exit is not far.

505 - Rolling Stones

Next to a pillar that can fall is the blue gem. Go down to the chamber below 
and collect the boxes that you need.

Gem Required: Pink (Slippery Climb)

Towards the end of the place is a pink gem that you can ride on. This will lead 
to a very, very, very high area. Notice how you can walk on the clouds. Grab 
all the boxes along the way, including the extra life at the end. Then, go up 
further to break more boxes for an extra life at the end.

507 - Road To Nowhere

Next to one of the checkpoints is a pink gem. Go to the very end and jump to 
press the TNT. Use the box created to reach the next exclamation box. Use the 
next new box to reach the center steel box, which is another exclamation box. 
This reveals the extra lives. The mask box can be used to take care of a final 
TNT, or you can set it off by using the other TNT that appears. At the very end 
of the level is another pink gem you can use. Walk on the area that it brings 
you to so boards appear. After you find these boxes, go back to the end.

508 - Boulder Dash

The gem is literally at the very end of the level. Use the arrow boxes down 
below to reach the extra lives. Kill the venus fly traps. Get all of the boxes 
at the very end before the exit.

509 - Cortex Power

I'll outline the best path to take: Go straight, then right. Then right, then 
backtrack, take the left this time. Backtrack left after breaking open the 
checkpoint. Take the blue gem's path. Get the mask and jump across all of the 
platforms. When you see the box bridge, walk all the way down before jumping on 
a TNT. Avoid the spiky robots and electricity to be safely transported with the 
gem. Now you must backtrack right UNTIL you see the extra life box, then go 
forward until you reach the end of the level.

510 - Jaws Of Darkness

Soon you should come to the blue gem. On the first platform, there is a hidden

Gem Required: Green (The Lost City)

You don't actually have to do this part at all, but if you hop onto the green 
gem to the left, you'll be taken to an area with 27 extra lives and then Crash 
will be lowered to the end of the level immediately. Awesome.

You should see a gem next to the portal. Once you hop across all of them, you

Q: I need some advice for those hard-to-get gem levels...

        A: Go to Heavy Machinery and find the quick two masks I've mentioned. 
Quite handy when you keep dying because of enemy damage.

Q: How come some of your levels have more than one super password?

        A: The first few = the passwords given from the bonus rounds. The last 
super password will ALWAYS be as a result of receiving the level's gem, unless 
it is in the levels revisited section instead.

Q: I found all of the boxes in a level but it still won't give me the gem!

        A: Well, did you die at any time? In this game, you can't die at all if 
you want the gem. If that wasn't it then it may be because there is a hidden 
box that you missed along the way. This happens frequently.

Q: What is the super password for 100%?

        A: It should be the final Jaws Of Darkness one.

Q: How do you find keys?

        A: You must successfully complete a Cortex bonus round.

Q: How do you view the beginning clip?

        A: It won't play automatically once you choose the new game option. You 
must wait during the start screen. Eventually, if you do nothing, the clip will 
automatically play for you. Not much there...
